Hey I love you vids, I'm so excited to see the turbo get put on. I've personally been eyeing the JDL one for a while now (mainly for the catted uel turbo manifold and I have a single exit cat back from them). I'm kind of copying your build with my 23 brz. Right now I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some FA 510 or 520CR haven't decided yet. I've been in contact with Fortune Auto and they recommended me similar spec to what you have. 8-9k front and 9-10 k rear with longer stokes and a helper spring. After seeing your other video where you talked about how a sway bar up front made you car to stiff I was wondering your opinion with you current 8k front and 9k rear spring rate and if you would recommend it or change it based on your extensive track day testing. Do you ever think its too stiff at all? I will be basically have the same aero as you, but that's down the road. Again love the vids, big supporter of the monster your making!!
@phelpsgarage4202
@phelpsgarage4202 3 күн бұрын
I appreciate the kind words and you taking your time watching the videos. I will say this the car is faster when it’s softer… more grip, but there’s a trade-off with aero you need the stiffer springs to take the extra down load. This helps at speed but at slow speed, it hurts. It’s one of those pick your poison type of deals. I sacrifice the low-end grip/speed for all the high-end stuff. I plan for go with even more aero so I can be faster in the corners! I recommend the white line swaybar kit, which I believe was 20mm in the front and 18mm in the rear to me that felt really balanced and neutral. Hope this helps

I'm not sure why people are confused about this 5w30 and 5w40 oil... the 40 is simply for hotter climates... where the ambient outside temperature is regulary 40+... example... use it in summer... and yes it privies more pressure... around 10psi which shouldn't even come into consideration unless you operate a car under heavy load or in the D3 AND D2 auto gears to towing stuff... 5w30w is just a better oil runs especially for better fuel consumption... only time you'd jump to 5w40 is when the car is getting older and high kms... like over 200.000k... minimum ... and you want to introduce heavy loads as I've already stated. Also go either liqui moli or motul or mobil 1 or get the bet best shell or Caltex if you can't find or afford those other 3 brands... always buy the best oil money can buy.

I’m getting a GJP kit after my delicious tuning kit broke on me because their build quality is pretty bad. The soldering on their board came apart so now i’m just waiting on the GJP kit to come in and i’m super excited to run E again. Also I can definitely relate to your problem with having no places for oil sensors. I’m boosted and already have the glowshift adapter and I still need another tap in for oil temps but have no clue where to tape it into at this point. I already have my turbo feed line, oil pressure, and stock oil pressure/temp sensors lol i’m running out of place.

How did you secure the gauge inside the pod? How much tape is required to screw sensor inside the adapter plug?
@phelpsgarage4202

@vpr0
@vpr0 10 күн бұрын
@@phelpsgarage4202 I meant how much teflon tape on the sensor thread. It's pre-installed on the adapter, but not the sensor. And I've already made a TPU 3D print that will friction fit the gauge in the pod. With the rubber band it doesn't fit and two nuts are used for a bracket that's for a completely different way of mounting.

you should get a 4.6 rear diff with a 1.5 LSD... and if you want to go crazy, a slightly lighter clutch/flywheel, pulley kit, wheels, and CF drive shaft. You will get better acceleration and exist speeds. Then your 86 will be a freaking weapon!
