Significant number of cars in the gravel at Paddock Hill bend!

Sound like you have the motor dialled in! Love to know more about the car and this event?
@jonniev84 ай бұрын
There is loads about the event on the web; it's one of my favourite places. Check out www.angouleme-tourisme.com/en/fete-manifestation/circuit-international-des-remparts/ the car is sold now but had a lot of brilliant races in it including outright wins at Monza, Brands Hatch and Nurburging Nordshleife. Lots about all my racing on wolfitt.com

I enjoyed the race, thanks for posting, I hope you had fun. Now I must make progress on my +2 Elan.

I’m halfway through watching, so maybe I shouldn’t comment yet but two things struck me, that MGB was surprisingly good under braking, I thought a much heavier car would lose out. I’m not sure what the regs are but my B’s brakes are good for road use, I would expect them to struggle whilst racing. I’m interested why you took that line through Druids, it seems to compromise your exit speed, you must have a reason, please enlighten. Thanks for posting I’ll go back to the race.
@jonniev84 ай бұрын
MGBs are amazingly good and he's probably better at it than me! Exit speed on Druids doesn't really matter as going tight is much shorter and it's such a short sprint to the left hander plus don't forget it's a whole train of cars in front and behind so you ae always watching for someone diving down the inside and wiping you out! Thanks for watching.

Excellent driving, seemingly calm and measured. Congratulations on the class win.

Thanks, it's amazing how many drivers get in a complete mess at the start of an endurance race!

Great stuff! Bit of excitement behind at 03:58, but what caused the exclamation at 06:29 just before overtaking the 240Z?
@jonniev810 ай бұрын
I thought Dean (240z) had seen me and was letting me past but probably hadn't and moved back over the track. You can see it more easily in the forward camera version of this race, also on KZfaq.

Survived! well done! looked mighty slippery, may have been worth trying to find grip 'offline' (like the yank tank), but easier said than done! :-) ps Was your HANS meant to be unattached? could have been costly,,,,

Yikes! Was proper wet out there yesterday - had the Galaxie in Libre and it was a handful😅
@meanredspider Жыл бұрын
There’s a bump, river or something in the track - I’ve done the same thing in the wet just there and, even aware of it, had to collect the car as it was suddenly stepping out of shape

Nice…..a pretty cagey first lap, amid some sketchy driving, then into the groove. Which brake pads were you using?

I almost lost the rear left. It started coming off during a drive on the street. When I pulled over, it was just about off. Apparently, when I was tightening the Nader nut in my garage, the car is so light, the wheel started turning on the smooth concrete surface. I gave it a good yank, but obviously, that wasn't good enough. Really need someone to step on the brakes while tightening the nut.

Had one of these back in the day, and I'm quite sure I didn't drive it this well...

Well if you are going to lose a wheel better lose a rear than front

Ooh! Apparently that happened to my GT6 with previous owner at Morgan Park in Queensland Australia. Still have the rub marks inside the wheel arch! Triumph weak point apparently, and cars known to flip (not sure how though).Glad your ‘issue’ ended safely.

Yes and yes again, We did a quick fix for the next meetings by buying another similar unit and being super-careful on race starts. The following winter we undertook an entire rear drive train upgrade with bespoke shafts and some special joints made especially for the car by GKN.

Great battle well driven could not get passed either of you fairly or safely got punted of by 74 Dave Roberts earlier and safely and ended up with bake issues 7 mins to go that kept putting me into a spin even when I tried slower. I had to come in as I did not want it to end on my roof as it nearly did on my last try, next time if I make it to Mallory?

Jon, great drive - cant see the fuel in the video, but I think a new breather valve required...

awesome stuff Jon ,what transmission were you running in the mk2
@jonniev84 жыл бұрын
It's a close ratio 5 speed Ford type 9 in a Quaife casing; very well matched to the car's torque. No need for 5th at Angouleme...
