Nice work Clint. It's hot in Tennessee right now and I've been putting off some of those outdoor jobs or doing them early in the morning. Thanks for taking the time to show how to do this one. Stay cool!! Good to see you back on the KZfaq!

Did you test existing compressor for a too-large air gap? On my 1998 Frontier I removed an AC clutch shim to fix my AC, back in 2019, and didn't even need to loosen or remove the AC drive belt.

I did not. Once I saw the clutch was not functioning, I knew what I needed to do.

The only thing id add is by taking out the ac condenser fan its much easier to get to the top mounting bolts as well as remove your ac lines before removing the compressor. Especially if you are limited to basic tools and don’t have swivel sockets. Since your already disconnecting the electrical of the compressor all you have to do is remove the hood latch, loosen up the t-bar, and take off the expansion tank. Im always a fan of removing some easy components to put back than fight to reach hard to get bolts. Great video!
@clintsearcy32526 күн бұрын
Good tips. I agree totally with removing the lines before removing the compressor from the mount.

I had to throw on front Quickstruts on my AWD 2007. After about 6 months I got terrible banging when rolling over bumps. Tie Rod ends were replaced about a year earlier. It drives straight, but it feels like strut assembly is loose and banging. But its completely tight. Any ideas on what I need to fix?
@clintsearcy32526 күн бұрын
It's really had to diagnose front end noises on these things without seeing it. Could be axels, ball joints, struts, motor mounts.ect
@underground279 күн бұрын
ugh... working on this same mount for my Element. The old motor mount was so jacked up that the area of the motor mount where the front, left bolt goes in broke away from the bolt. So its spinning freely still attached to the old mount's fastener smh. I am trying to use some grip pliers on the fastener while trying to loosen the bolt from the bottom with a ratchet but I guess its not gripping it tight enough. I wish I had an impact gun likes yours. Lucky me smh. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just sprayed some PB penetrator on the top side of the bolt where the old fastener sleeve is located hoping it may help loosen it from the bolt when I try again
@clintsearcy32525 күн бұрын

A method I find works well with track rod ends and would work with this ball joint due to the way it is fitted is to put a trolley jack under it and jack up under the thread so there is a good bit of upwards pressure on it, if that's not enought to pop it free start smacking the hub with a hammer and the combination of both should work.

It's usually only the microswitch in the buckle. I've fixed a few by removing the two torx screws and seperating the two plastic halves on the buckle. You'd be surprised how much gunk accumulates in there over the years. The plunger on the microswitch gets sticky and can usually be unstuck with some silicone spray.

Been there done that. About 2 weeks is what I got. Toaster grease works for about 6 months and crowned clean plastic restorer from amazon lasted about a year. The first time for crowned lasted a year and the second batch it ordered was a different formula and it didnt last a week. Toaster grease is my current favorite.

**03 Honda CRV LX** Anyone know why im constantly leaking power steering fluid on my belt and everything else on that side? I replaced both hoses on the reservoir and the high pressure hose that goes to the top of the power steering pump over the engine to the back. Maybe the part where the reservoir hose and return hose connect? Its in such a tight area and bolted to the frame its almost impossible to check. Edit: is it possible that im leaking oil out of the smaller back oring that goes onto the intake part of the power steering pump?
@clintsearcy325220 күн бұрын
Mine was sucking air around that Oring. That cause the fluid to foam up and run over the top of the reservoir and dump fluid all over the belts. .

I got quoted $1300 for a compressor replacement. No thank you. I've done the starter already and this looks to be about the same level of difficulty. I think the scariest part of this whole thing is drilling out those bolts because of the potential for spreading metal chips. Gonna attempt this myself.
