Hello Ed and Elizabeth, Thank you for the 5 important exercises for 60 yrs. I’ve so of out at home for years. For the first time I injured the ligament under my scapula.. air was from doing weights with my arm over my head… The pain was so severe & I could not move my right arm the pain brought me to tears.. I knew I would not take pain meds. I found movements for under the scapula which I did 7!times a day. I went thru the aweful pain and screamed as I continued.. After 2 days I was pain free.. UNBELIEVABLE.. I. Believed that was the safest way.. I truly am grateful for all you do!! With Respect

I can do an hour of zone 2 exercise on the bike or rower or even zone 3 on the elliptical but if i try to jog even at a slow pace i get dizzy and have head pressure despite my heart rate being lower compared to the elliptical. It makes no sense. I used to love running prior to covid.

Thank you and God Bless you. Woke up yesterday morning and was barely able to walk. I had not turned my ankle and there was no pain and swelling. I resigned myself to the need to see a podiatrist. After several hours of online research, I found this video and followed the instructions. I felt several "pops" and almost miraculously am 90% better; able to walk normally. Again, THANK YOU!

when an elderly person wants to live alone, the consequences of that must be made clear to the person. It means if he or she falls, or become unconscious etc, then the possibilty of henceforth departing is high. If he or she in clear mind decides whatever will be will be, then let them live alone. They are happy and prepared mentally for the horrible eventuality.

Aging is big business for pharmaceutical companies. Dizziness, vertigo, immobility, "falling" etc are frequently SYMPTOMS of over-medication. Nursing homes represent the "success" of over-medication - the "pot of gold" for pharmaceutical companies and family physicians are the complicit "pushers" with 10 minute/one issue appointments where the physician invariably makes a quick buck for writing a prescription. Let your elected representative know that health care should provide health promotion (versus drugs) via senior access to: exercise, nutrition/dietary assessment and consultation; physiotherapy; chiropactry, massage therapy, occupational therapy, psycho-social support, income supplements to meet basic needs where required.

Have a look at Australia. Most residents in aged care have to rely on third world labour. They have never done these jobs, but to survive in Australia, they have to accept any job to stay in the country and to survive.

Yes, pushups should be fine. You may need to modify them at first and would do them 3 times per week. You can plank on the other days. Good luck!

I'm 60 and diagnosed with osteoporosis. When I was told I have it, I asked if I could still do yoga and was told yes, no one told me be careful with some of the positions. They suggested pills and shots, which I'm not doing. I enjoy my yoga. Also I started walking, using weights. I'm glad there are videos for bone density.

Hello Ed, i suffered a large hematoma on the inside of my upper leg. from a ladder collapse. I had x-rays to insure nothing was broken. I have feeling in my knee and lower shin, but it is the middle of the shin where there is no sensation. Does a hematoma lessen the feeling of the affected area due to the buildup of fluid? I am not looking for medical advice just opinion. thanks

Hello. I am very interested in this and your opinion - I am 70 years old, female, good health.... - 3.5 years ago going down some stairs (I was not used to going down stairs), About 20 minutes later, I felt some pain in my left knee while on my walk. I am close to bone on bone medial left knee but no knee issues before this. Since this slight injury, I walk weird/limp/some instability but the instability has improved now, from some real alarming incidents on uneven ground, including falling once. I don't want a total knee replacement. I saw the Surgeons Phyiscians Assistant yesterday because I wanted an MRI. They said an MRI wouldn't show me anything. I always suspected this was a ligament but they wouldn't give me a MRI... .The hands on test said I did not have torn ligaments, but PA said I had swelling on back of knee. Although no tenderness there, I dont believe it is inflammation at this point, 3.5 years later taking Meloxicam ….there is no pain there and never has been... but is a Bulked Up Muscle ?? due to the injury and the way my compensated walk has possibly bulked it up and distorted it......... I do have a slightly bent left knee that cannot be straightened no matter what I tried in the past, so I gave up....... Strenghtening my legs hasn't worked for me. No difference. My good knee is smooth back there. There is a real difference when I touch them. No pain on rest, just uncomfortable walking but learned how to walk better to avoid instability. No striding or quick piveting for me...sideways stairs and careful curb negiotion for me....................... Can you tell me if you think your exercises will work for me? Would a pro massage help since I can't do that myself. I have tried many other things, but this Popiliteus muscle is what I think is involved now. Nobody had told me that. .. or even mentioned this...... ... Maybe it is too late. THANK YOU for the video and Thank you or your opinion on my knee situation..

I had an older man named George from our church had an operation and would up in a " nursing home" twice.. There were a disaster. Both nursing dumps had a staff that barely spoke english and he could not be understood. Older people can't tolerate places like that. There is a difference between assisted liking and a nursing home. My mother went to assisted living after not being able to do the minor tasks, but she liked it there, people around, clean and organized. We were able to get George out and we wre able to get him help to be in his home. I asked where they get these people? I was told foreign countries. Assisted living is fine, nursing homes..count your days. BTW I live in California if that makes a difference. If anyone doesn't believe me look up nursing homes and look at their reviews. California anyway. Hasn't been the "golden state" for decades. Look at San Francisco and Oakland.
