It is surprising to learn the number of younger folks that only know the ending of this song because of Brentford FC.

The guitar countermelodies on this album are frickin beautiful.

It was at the San Diego Zoo. A producer's idea. Didn't really have much to do with the music. I love the bass line during the verses of Wouldn't It Be Nice. Carol Kaye played it. A member of the famous wrecking crew. Glen Campbell likely played the intricate guitar part at the beginning. Three brothers, a first cousin, and a high school football friend. America's band.

The #1 ranked album by many publications. #2 by Rolling Stone. Caroline No... it makes me cry. The water bottle percussion is simply amazing. The chord progressions are to die for. The melody... haunting and melancholy. Brian's singing is frickin beautiful. The alto flute solo... gorgeous. Than the dog barking and the train in Brian's real backyard. The Beach Boys helped me through some troubling times. You skipped that part. It puts a button on the ending. But excellent review. Respectfully done. Thank you.

In the vernacular of the day, "Turns me on" is about the state you attain when doing LSD or other drugs and also of a sexual nature "She turns me on" i.e. "She gets me going." Turning on was a way to connect with the deeper parts of yourself. It was a state of being where the interconnectedness of EVERYTHING was experienced on an individual level and you felt a communal connection to everyone. That one experience of the 60's and the anti-war protests was sadly lost and we're still trying to figure out how to live as a world-wide community. "Because the world is round..." We almost made it and now we have "Nationalism, Trumpism, MAGA" and everything that is anathema to what we almost had 60 years ago! The connection that the Beatles made to an entire world is and will never be equaled and it's so inspiring to see new generations making that connection. BUT you have to see it in the context of the times to really get how it's relevant to today!

I hope NPR Tiny Desk will feature some UK R&B too! SWV discography is one of the best catalog in R&B, the albums, the singles are well written, arranged and produced. Brian Alexander Morgan wrote and produced all their hits in their first album It's About Time, Taj and Coko co-wrote You're The One and Lelee co-wrote Don't Waste Your Time in their New Beginning album, Rain for me is their best song overall.

I swear JPJ on bass is plucking 32nd notes on those runs. They're so clear and distinct! What skill!!! Robert's vocals, early in his career, were JUST FORMING -- hints of greatness to come. Page showing his lightning flashes of fretwork. Nothing needs be said about Bonzo's rhythm machine.

People have always loved to hate on #9, but I always liked it (even at 14 when this was new) BECAUSE it’s so weird. Had to figure out what was going on 😏 It is art made of sound. Sound art. Conceptual art was huge at the time and post-modernism (can mix styles) was gaining traction John was exposed to the avant garde art world by Yoko, and it fascinated him.

This band is actually one of the seminal punk bands. Here's the leader, Jonathan Richman, being interviewed at the beginning of this episode of the history of rock and roll put out by PBS. He is considered by many to be the father of punk rock. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q82knrF9zLuunJc.htmlsi=4d5p89PxF8R87z7o

As a child born into the 70's, I have no idea where music has gone. It all seems so bland but it maybe my age. The Beatles albums are sublime, exciting, still intersting and changed the world.
