what you comment around 6:41 is one of the current problems of the Superilles: Airbnb and other tourist accomodations have been taking space and raising housing prices over the roof. That plus many buildings in the city center are converted to hotels or offices instead of renovated for housing means the need for commuting into the city for the workforce for those offices and amenities is needed, causing the expected reduce in car traffic not really happen and the busy streets become busier by basically having fewer of them. I hate driving into or through the city because it's rare the day the rondes (which are the highway-like roads that cross the city through the top and the bottom, supposed to funnel most of the city traffic closer to where it's expected to go) are not fully jammed, making the emissions reduction a zero sum in the end

If you are considering moving to South Florida, double triple quadruple think it over. It's expensive, hot, humid, always rainy, poor job market, poor public infrastructure.

$65 Billion? We're already spending that much on the consequences of illegal immigration and "progressive" crime policies... We're spending 10 times that much each year to service the $34 TRILLION national debt.... (and growing)...

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. Galveston should be turned into a large national park to visit when there aren’t any storms.

As a Texan, I can say with confidence Texas govt hates infrastructure development and construction and they are slow at it and don't have the money cuz of no state tax. I-35 has been under construction for over 10 yrs, ppl i met who live here all their life said its 35 but under construction for over 20yrs, there's no end to it. That's what it's gonna be to build this wall. Instead of 18 yrs, it's gonna take 6 decades. The only quick civil engineering marvel texas has built rapidly is their make shift border wall.

OMG... doesn't anyone remember that due to Climate Change / Global Warming / Polar Ice Caps Melting... 98% of Florida will be UNDER WATER in less than 20 years... along with 90% of the U.S. continental sea coast... basically anything lower than 30 ft above current sea levels, if not higher... and that is if it survives all the extreme Hurricanes that are expected to get worse, year by year...
@t.c.2776
@t.c.2776 7 күн бұрын
Considering the weather/Climate is getting worse... how many times in the next 18+ years (considering normal construction and budgetary delays) will Galveston be destroyed? Do you think Mother Nature is going to hold off for the next 18 years? And when finished, it "may" handle a surge by 30 - 60%... that means 40-70% of whatever size of a future surge, with worsening storms due to Climate Change "might" be... but shouldn't we mention the "expected" sea rise?... This is typical Political "SAVE THE RESORT AT ANY TAXPAYER COST, for the votes" even though we expect it to be totally underwater in the next 10-20 years anyway... just like the majority of all seacoasts... if you go by all the "scientific evidence", anything that is less than 30 feet above the current ocean levels should be underwater in 18 years...

Gates Galveston and some warm fuzzy words about dune renewal. These storms have come in with THIIRTY FOOT WAVES / SURGES. Homes that survived had to have been on 3 story piles, makes for weird pics. Pumping in enough sand to resist just ONE storm means FIFTY FOOT HIGH DUNES as the waves will crash in to them and run up even higher than the 30 feet they did running under jacked up homes. for 50 foot high, the top will need to be HUNDREDS of feet wide so that it won't erode out in a single storm, the base will need to be THOUSANDS OF FEET WIDE, same reason. If you want it to last say 50 yrs, every inch will need to be armored with solid concrete, interlocking concrete, sports car sized boulders.... THEN planted and plantings nurtured for 10 or 20 yrs until robust enough to make it through a bad yr and recover in just one good yr. Of course the alternative,, a galveston sea wall along the whole coast, well, that got issues too. You have to back fill up to top, no one wants beach property looking at a 30 foot concrete wall. You MIGHT be able to keep it at 30 feet as the curved section reflects waves back to the ocean, I'm not a hydrologist, not a clue, but it's worked at Galveston.

Or your country no longer has the uranium since Russia took it all and is now sabotaging Africa and no steady supply is available any more. Your only option now is to build it in Africa at the source and wait for the inevitable war to break out all over Africa. Knowing that uranium is a byproduct of weapons grade uranium you now no longer have the option of peace and are now forced to mine and sell said radioactive product in Africa with a 100% guarantee of nuclear war breaking out on the continent. This is precisely what is going to start in less than 13 years. Africa is 99% doomed. And good ridence.
