This was so satisfying to watch. She has beautiful teeth so it never makes sense how these things happen. I just went through so many procedures but the one thing that still exists is this small palatal abscess after my root canals. It’s definitely smaller but so uncomfortable.

Local anesthetic. Usually they take ibuprofen for one to two days but very little swelling or discomfort and almost zero bleeding

Prettyvsure their teeth keep growing. They dont eat stuff in captivity that grind down teeth naturally. If you don't take care of it they could slowly starve or choke.. be too thin...

Great question! Horses teeth grow throughout their life and they can get jagged and unusable. This causes them to have poor digestion and nutrition. They sedate the horse with medication prior to starting. She did great and was totally fine after words

i had one on my root canal #18 and that tooth had a root canal done 2 years ago and i have no idea why it had a abscess. i went to the dentist and he said it's a reoccurring root canal and then i went home and my whole left cheek was swollen. i was in so much pain. i couldn't sleep. i felt my jaw burning and so much pain. it was terrible. i went to the ER and they gave me antibiotics too. i'm on antibiotics. hopefully not doesn't come back. but i have to go get my root canal redone. root canals never work 😢 he said if it comes back i have to pull the tooth out. hopefully it won't come back so i can go get the root canal done. i'm so tired of this pain. then i have the upper right tooth that has a root canal years ago and it's infected. ugh so annoying. Root canals don't work. i have no idea why it's bad years later. so weird. should have worked and killed the infection in it too.its not bad but when i eat cold things on it its so senstive and hurts

Dang it, im sorry. Unfortunately they arnt always perfect and can have complications. If you want to explore other options you can ask your dentist about an extraction and implant rather than to attempt the root canal retreat.

Hey Doc. I’m a new grad and have had a patient present with palatal abscess. Can you advise what you do after it’s drained? Irrigate with saline then suture? Then root canal tooth that’s the cause of infection?

Yes you got it. Drain, put them on antibiotic and schedule for rct or ext.

They wanted to keep the tooth but in severe pain. Draining the lesion allows them to have immediate comfort and then time to do the root canal to save the tooth.

I have the same exact thing cause of the tooth decay. Dr has advised root canal. But the lump is growing day by day and have been given OTC medicine for pain relief. Should I get it surgecially removed or wait for it to pop on its on? Please advise something the pain is literally unbearable. I have been on painkillers now by urine is turning red
