You know...it would really be a lot more effective if everyone just sat in the back of the bus to add more weight over the back wheels. Do these morons really think they can "push" a bus in the snow?

That was nice of those passengers to help push the bus. Either that or wait for a tow truck. I always wondered why buses have a hard time in the snow when they should do pretty good considering most of the weight of the engines and transmissions are over the drive wheels. Unfortunately the drive tires on most buses have no cross lugs in the treads (like bald tires) so they have a tough time getting traction. Next time you get a chance take a look at the tread pattern on the drive tires of a bus and you will see the problem. Here in Denver during heavy snowfalls the city buses run until they are totally stuck, some of them blocking all lanes of traffic. Then the passengers walk home and the buses are abandoned. I know, I saw it happen and it's unbelievable!

Don't know the type of bus, but some of the systems to limit environmental impact by tuning fuel usage might be at play as well: we have Scania Omnilinks in my city and next to the type of tires, it's mostly the Euro-system that at times when you might need a particular fuel efficiency (for instance by requesting peak power) it might not give you it immediately because it looks at your driving history and see you didn't save enough fuel, or it doesn't give you peak power at all. Drivers here have complained that the gas pedal feels like putting their foot down on a sponge due to how it's basically always giving them the same amount of power.

It’s a low floor bus which are way lighter than older high floors so they will have a higher chance of getting stuck in snow

why do these buses not have chains on their wheels? in NYC buses are equipped with chains when heavy snow is coming especially lightweight hybrids
@QiuyuanChenRyan9169 жыл бұрын
It is not easy to have such heavy snow in that area and facility didn't manage to clean that snow either. Which the Bus will stuck and passenger either wait or do something.
@corinagodson54599 жыл бұрын
chains are illegal to use in the province on Ontario

chains or use towels............ believe me, it works. o, and better higher gears and slowly on the gas than much gas and low gears
