Lexington is a great place to live. Recently moved to the area and enjoy the fact that its not crowded and alot of trees and cleaner air. Even though it is a lower cost of living the cons i would say is the limited job opportunities and low pay scale in specific job roles. However it is very peaceful there as well.

Isn’t Columbiana Mall closed? Native of Columbia here, moved away years ago, now living in Beijing but thinking of moving back to Columbia. I saw a video several yrs ago about the demise of Columbiana.

Columbiana Mall is still open in the Irmo area. You may thinking of Richland Mall in the Forest Acres area. That one closed a few years ago. They currently bulldozing it down and transforming it into a community park and business area. The plans for it looked spectacular! Thanks for watching.

We bought our 5 bedroom 3 bath house in Irmo last July and will move there next month. Our himeowner's insurance is $2,200 per year and half of that cost is for "wind and hail" coverage. i called the agent and was told that they don't have any companies that will insure without that coverage. The house is 24 years old and never had any kind of wind or hail damage. Does anyone know of an agency that offers homeowners insurance without wind and rain coverage? Also, what do you mean by the people are red in Florida? If red means conservative, aren't the people also red in SC?
@MovingtoColumbiaSC
@MovingtoColumbiaSC 2 ай бұрын
I'm sorry to hear about the high costs of your homeowner's policy. Most people want wind and hail coverage, which is the cause of most claims. I don't know your situation, but the house sounds like your home may have been vacant or rented since you purchased it last year, influencing your insurance premium. Yes, both states are red politically but I've had clients that have left Florida because it was "too red" for them. Thanks for watching.

After living in Lake Carolina for a year, seems like almost on a weekly basis, school lockdowns, car thefts, attempted child kidnappings, shootings on Hardscrabble Road, Killian and Clemson Roads. Thugs harassing shoppers at Sand Hills, it’s all getting too much. Police are to frighten to clamp down crime for fear of being labeled. Columbia, you get what you tolerate.

Your math is flawed. If there is a rate of 35 per one thousand residents, then you don't have a 1 in 35 chance of being a victim. If the rate were 35 crimes per 35 residents, you would have a 1 in 35 chance.
@MovingtoColumbiaSC
@MovingtoColumbiaSC 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and paying attention! I’d have to look at my notes from Neighborhood Scouts that provided the data but I believe the 35 in 1000 was for crimes to a person. The one in 28 was for crime involving a property or on a person. If I did misinform or mislead in any way I apologize.

In Columbia, South Carolina, you can find communities with amenities "tailored to seniors" in various areas. Some neighborhoods that prioritize amenities for seniors and offer opportunities for hosting out-of-town guests include: Saluda River Club: Located in Lexington, just outside Columbia, this community features resort-style amenities including a wellness center, swimming pools, and social clubs, perfect for active seniors looking for a vibrant community atmosphere. Woodcreek Farms: Situated in Northeast Columbia, Woodcreek Farms is a golf course community with amenities like tennis courts, walking trails, and a clubhouse that can be enjoyed by residents and their guests. This neighborhood is still being developed today. Cobblestone Park: Another golf course community in Northeast Columbia, Cobblestone Park offers amenities such as a fitness center, resort style swimming pool, and dining options, ideal for seniors looking for recreational activities and entertainment options. These are just a few examples, and there are more communities throughout Columbia and the surrounding areas that cater to seniors and offer amenities for hosting out-of-town guests. The communities mentioned are not 55+ communities but lean that way.
