Thanks! I'm glad I found this because all the other videos had he easy breezy screws and I didn't even know what these were called to search them. I think that it will probably be worth it, because 1) as you mention, it's more environmentally friendly to re-use and 2) I think picking out the fabric to use will be part of the fun!

That was my hope! When I began reupholstering these, it took me a while to figure out how to do it and all the videos I saw showed the easy peasy screw chairs. I hope your project was a success!

I've been considering using Live Education but wonder, do you feel it would be a good fit if a child is behind in reading, writing and math? I am referring to a mild to moderate learning disorder not an intellectual disability.
@PepperandPine29 күн бұрын
That’s a great question and while I can’t answer fully, I will say that all my kids read far later than what’s expected in schools today and would have been “behind”. However, when we look at development and appropriate teaching content and expectations, I don’t believe my children were ever “behind”. I would advise you have a consultation with the live education team before buying to make sure it’s a good fit. I believe they consult with anyone choosing to buy their curriculum.

Hi Hannah! (Apologies if spelling is wrong) do you utilize both curriculums? Could they potentially mesh well?
@PepperandPineАй бұрын
Hello! Good question. I haven't tried meshing two curricula that are similar, but I have tried to mesh curricula/philosophies that are not similar and it didn't work well for me. I tried with Charlotte Mason and Waldorf for our lessons and it was disastrous for me. However, I do think where philosophies overlap or can mesh without compromise, it's great to combine to make it authentic for your family needs.

I always used the DK books to spark curiosity. I used whatever caught my daughter's attention in those books as a jumping off point so my daughter could do a deeper dive into a specific area of a topic. For example, my daughter found information on lichen really fascinating, so even though we did a botany unit, part of that was having my daughter go to the library, and online, to research more information and then propose either an experiment related to that topic or she would develop her own lesson plan and teach me. This approach really allowed her to do a deep dive and understand that learning isn't just about receiving information given to you, but also actively researching and learning about those things that are of interest to her.
@PepperandPineАй бұрын
Brilliant! Truly, when a student researches and teaches, it's some of the best learning possible. Sparking curiosity then diving deep is what a flexible teacher may facilitate. Often we may get caught up with our own lesson plans or the rigidity of the curriculum and minimize these tangents which are the light of learning, but when we follow that student's lead, usually the path is easier and the learning deeper. Well done!

Hello, I wonder how this book compares to form drawing blocks in Waldorf homeschool curriculums? If i purchase Waldorf Essentials or Live Education etc, is it still worth buying this book, or will form drawing be covered in the curriculum?
@PepperandPineАй бұрын
I love these form drawing books and they contain far far more than what's in the curriculum. However, the curriculum provides enough for the lessons suggested, so the form drawing book would either be extra, additional inspiration or a replacement if you didn't have a curriculum that provided form drawing.

Newer to your channel but curious about why you do the drawings. They’re great drawings but does your daughter replicate what you do or how does that work? It caught my attention that you said she picked two and you picked two. Does she not do all of them?
@PepperandPine2 ай бұрын
Welcome! Good question. This time around with this unit I’m approaching things a little bit differently. I’m doing illustrations and written work in advance of presenting these lessons. Then she’ll copy the illustration and compose her own written work. For this lesson, I didn’t research ahead of time so she researched two kinds of mountains and I did two. Then we talked about our findings. We continued this lesson for almost a week. During that time, while she was occupied with other lessons, I did the illustrations which she later copied into her main lesson book. In the past, I might have done some chalk drawings or offered my student an illustration to copy from another source or ask them to come up with their own illustrations or skip the drawing altogether.
@3akhomeschoolАй бұрын
@@PepperandPine I see, that makes sense. We're just starting a similar process with a written work/summary but I'm trying to incorporate more drawings. Wish I had your drawing skills tho!!
