No credit to Oakwood Garden Rooms for the base system?
@HandySam
@HandySam 10 күн бұрын
Not in this video but in another video I @ them. @gardenroomguru I think it is now isn’t it ? 100% of the credit of the methodology goes to Liam and the oakwood GARDENROOM guys. Great method! I pretty much did their whole system other than the roof and upgraded the insulation on what they do. I’d do hardwood ply instead of chipboard when I do it again. Good spot tho! Loved the process would do it again!

Yeah it’s an investment but if you’re planning on doing a bunch of work with the router I feel it’s worth it. They seem to hold their value if you choose to resale it after.

The laminate flooring was done in two stages as the extension was done after the renovation on the main house. The main house renovation took a year and then the extension took 9 months in evenings and weekends. The laminate flooring took about a day each time

Wow! Very nice. Would purchase and keep some extra boxes though, in the event changes are made or repairs are needed. It would suck if that flooring was discontinued and you needed more.

That’s a good idea! £75 a box puts me off doing that as I’m planning on selling the house soon.. but I have left the extra lefts in the loft and details of what they are just incase. The lefts could be used in an emergency if the tongues are cut off maybe 😅

Nice looking room. It looks like you need to adjust the faucet/tap handle and rotate it to the right. That’s if you’re right handed or to the left if you’re a leftie. It shouldn’t be directly under the faucet spout.

What did u do about insulation on those walls?
@HandySam
@HandySam Ай бұрын
I had cavity wall insulation however it was causing damp so had to remove it, which was a real pain. I had to make holes in the wall and vacuum out the insulation. I did this in a previous video but I opted for underfloor insulation where previously there was no underfloor insulation and the removal of the damp causing cold bridging/wall insulation.

Hello, I like watching these kinds DIY videos but I have to give you some constructive criticism, you're talking so much that I have no interest in watching anymore because what I want to see is the job being, start to finish (not pictures, a video) and should also be in a time lapse way and definitely not too long, 48 minutes is long......way too long. All the best.

"Image of it done.. sad really because he does lovely work, just not showcasing his talents properly.. the view of his back when showing us some actual sawing was classic.

Looks great. I did the exact same for our whole downstairs. About 90sqm, no doorbars, tricky going backwards into rooms as they are intended to be laid in one direction, loads of waste, lots of left or right spares (can't remember which), edges broke where I finished for a day or two and we walked across it, glued some joins where it only clipped in one edge. I didn't remove skirting so slipping it under the skirting as I laid it was a challenge. I did have to scrape the floor area and hoover before laying the rows to ensure it was flat. I did install a few trim pieces to hide edges, they are stuck to the vertical wall/door frame not the floor to allow for expansion and contraction. Overall really pleased with the result and saved a fortune laying myself as people charge more to fit herringbone, understandable as it takes longer to fit.
@HandySam
@HandySam 4 ай бұрын
Sounds great Andy! The going backwards is tricky but sounds like a great saving over a Loverly sized space! I thought I had it tough with my space and it’s half the size of that! 😅 Slipping under the skirting boards 😅 I have PTSD from doing it with regular laminate with skirting boards in place let alone herringbone !

Hello they’re Lithe Audio Bluetooth.. they do have more premium ones that have a WiFi connection too which allows them all to sync together with TV’s other branded speakers.. but were a bit more expensive. I bought from an eBay store new, you need a master and a slave I believe you can have up to four in one grouping. Lithe audio but you need a master one !

Yeah I’ve sold that house now but luckily to a friend, they’ve primarily used it for parties and storage. There is not even surface rust when we had a look under the GARDENROOM when we did some decking out the front last summer. But I’d certainly do it this way again. We had up to 15 people in there at once and there is currently a pool table in there. Much less concrete,much less prep and I think a more accurate finish, get your spacing correct so the load is distributed evenly and you’re good to go !
