Yes, I was very happy it was not the gears and I was not going to have to hunt down more gears for it. These are getting very difficult to find and replace! I believe they are slightly different from the standard Ultima, I assume for handling the bigger tires. At least that is what it seems as the ones I got originally were not the correct size.

I was very happy there was nothing wrong with the gears in it. sadly I had to tear it all apart to check everything but I certainly did not think it was the pinion slipping on the motor shaft. That was a first for me! It was terrific to see and hear it running around like it is supposed to again! Yes, with the almost daily storms over the last couple weeks the grass and weeds have exploded and taken over the track. I have my trimmer set up with the brush cutter blade as I was trimming all the under growth off the side of our road and have not wanted to swap it back over just to trim the track as I still have some more to do on the road. In the woods here the humidity lingers around much longer so it feels very jungle like most days, no breeze and just swampy! We are getting a little cooler weather this weekend and I got out and tore the jump off of the track yesterday. I have some more work to do but I finally got that project started after something like 10 months LOL!! Take care Mark and have a great week yourself!

I got a Gens 7.4v 60c 5000 2s for my Grasshopper2 and i noticed a huge difference in it. Thing is a bit faster than it used to be and really when on cement just wants to spin out vs the regular NiMH batteries i use in it. But your car is awesome and totally surprised it didn't break on that first curb. Really thought from the way you looked that it had broken right off the bat. Cant wait to see the follow up video.
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground 18 сағат бұрын
The performance gain from lipo power is a very noticeable difference! Lighter weight and much more punch from them adds up to a lot of get up and go! I was a bit surprised nothing broke with the first smack into the curb! My wife thought it did! I was just frustrated as it was my fault it hit the curb, I hit the brakes a bit too hard and with those big grippy tires one locked up and turned it right towards the curb. Thankfully with the tumbles and flips everything came home in one piece! I am going to try and get out with it again tomorrow morning and see if I can squeeze a few more MPH out of it. I made a couple changes that should help, I hope!

What a terrific vintage RC. When I watch vids of these old Kyosho rigs, I'm always impressed at how well they perform even at today's standards. I think that's what sets them apart from the old Tamiyas. That’s not a knock on Tamiya, as they certainly have a huge stake in the "nostalgic" RC market. But those old Kyoshos just perform so well!!! Nice run Addam 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks! This one I did very well on! That app is called BUYEE and it spans multiple different auction sites in Japan. You buy through them and the products get shipped to their warehouse and once there you get 30days of free storage. once you get however many items you want then you can consolidate them into one shipment and pay one fee for the pile of stuff to get boxed up and shipped to your home. You need to sign up for an account at buyee and then link a PayPal account or CC for the purchases and shipping charges. It is not like eBay so my suggestion is to watch a bunch of auction and read the details on the auction to get a feel for it for a while before bidding on things. Email me if you have more questions, I am not expert but have used it successfully a few times now! LOL!!

Runs good now, recently rescued a Kyosho Citroen ZX Rally Raid kit number 3163 in need of some parts. (It's a stretched Kyosho Raider buggy chassis the particular one i got here. (Literally a plastic piece pushing the motor mount back 15 mm for a longer wheelbase.) From Kyoshos Scale car series, which had the Ford rs500 group A car sharing the same chassis & layout. But there were ones based on the Ultima II chassis on a few models as well.) Among the missing parts are steering links, servo saver, servo, bearings, battery mount. As I'd imagine it will just slide out with what i have atm unless i use electrical tape, zipties or a battery strap probably. Rear dogbone on one side has sheared off the pins from the added shocks the previous owner used on it, way too high ground clearance & was binding up the axles completely unless you pushed down the shocks pretty far so it doesn't run like that. But i know the HSP 88mm ones fit this just fine from reading on forums of people fixing these up. Also a diff outdrive is looking a bit worse for wear & actually falls out if nothing is there to hold it up, might try if a TL01 diff outdrive fits in there. Though for a temporary fix a zip tie to lock the other diff outdrive in place over the shock tower could get it moving as a 1wd car as long as i fix the steering links & mount up electrics. Do you know how long the steering links stretch out from the servo saver on the Kyosho Raider ? Basically all thats needed besides servo, esc & receiver to get it rolling under it's own power for a temporary run down the street & back. Gonna try using a Tamiya TL01 style servo saver but don't know the length of the links themselves to each front wheel. Also borrowed some wheel axles from said TL01 on the rear too fit on regular 12mm hex drives that aren't friction fit for some reason. Don't know if that was some home fix the original owner of this did or something as they look homemade or from another rc of some sort that had them friction fit. It as mentioned has way too long rear shocks which I've had to mount higher up to make it sit more neutral, think they are shocks off a 1:8th scale buggy or a 1:10th scale monster truck of some sort, dampens pretty good now though with them sitting higher up & doesn't cause issues with jamming up the dog bones. bodyshell is a bit sloppily painted up around the windows & not to boxart, as well as missing the top piece of the rear wing. Currently soaking the stiff rear tires & wheels in some hot water with green soap to let them soak up a bit & get a bit softer, they could almost be used as drift tires even on a brushed motor setup.
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground 17 сағат бұрын
You sound like you definitely have you hands full with it! I will have to go measure the links on the raider and get back to you. I know they are two different lengths and the servo saver on the stock setup is a bit wonky. I am pretty sure I switch ed mine over to either a Kimbrough or a generic Tamiya servo saver on my runner. I will try and get the lengths for you by tomorrow evening. Have fun with the rebuild and I am sure there will be some more surprises in store. This one seems like it has been tinkered on multiple times over the years!
