What if the connector from the original wiring harness if kind of fried???
@DIYNate
@DIYNate 19 сағат бұрын
That one is a bit tricky to diagnose or help with through comments, but if it is the connector from the ice maker to the fridge, generally, the icemaker will come with a replacement harness. If the issue is with the wiring from the refrigerator to the icemaker and it is the part that is connected to the fridge, you are likely looking at needing some pretty good electrical skills plus needing to disassemble quite a bit to get to those wires. Hoping your issue is with your wiring from your icemaker and it is on the easier end to swap out. You can also purchase the wiring adapters separately. Good luck and thanks for the comment! - DIYNate

Hot effin darn! All I had to do was turn the Allen key from a set I had in thr tool box clockwise and I could hear draining, and it worked after that! Whoo hoo, thanks! I was stressing and thinking o great more money, and water sat in the drain all day I didn't know what to do. YT and your video plus the last one to the rescue! The plunger was next, we have one labeled "sink" and thank you for the warnings about light pressure due to the precautions! Glad I didn't need it. And I found some things under the sink I didn't need to rebuy 🥳

These Maytag ice makers must not be very good quality. 2 years ago, right after we bought this fridge, the ice maker stopped working after only about 4 months. They came out and put in a new one at no charge but now I'm having problems again with it not making ice except once in a while.

I think it was sticky in the first place. If the glue / adhesive melted, you may still try running it under the warm water - you may be surprised what can be restored with that approach. Good luck! - DIYNate

The issue with those things is an inherent design flaw, because moisture from the non-frozen section is allowed to go into the freezer zone. If it had separate compartments like the full size refrigerators have, then this kind of thing would be somewhat rare. Other than that, the utility of the appliance is nice. Just would be better if the companies making them didn't cheap out on some things.

I have the same fridge. I felt in the tray and it was empty. I filled it with a garden hose and it did dump. Now what?
@DIYNate
@DIYNate 12 күн бұрын
Good question there - if you filled it with water and it dumped, that may be a good sign that the ice maker is behaving how it should be but it could be your water valve in the inside back of the fridge (or on the back of the fridge in general - depending on make / model) has an issue. When I replaced my water valve, I found that was the issue in one of my fixes and I didn't need a new icemaker. If I ordered the icemaker and changed that out, I would have been disappointed to find that I had more work to do in replacing the water valve. Good luck and hope you got it up and running! - DIYNate

I have been trying to find a video on how to take the ice chute and the surrounding plastic out to give it a good cleaning. We haven’t used ours in a long time. Mine has mold on it and using a hot rag and dish soap is not working. I really want to disassemble it and give it all a really good cleaning. I’ve done the inside parts that was easy but I cannot figure out how to take the outside parts apart.
@DIYNate
@DIYNate 12 күн бұрын
That is a bit hard to diagnose or approach from the comments, but if you were able to get the whole ice maker out (e.g., disconnecting the cord from the inside) then being able to wash it / scrub it, or swap out the funnel could be done I would think. At the same time, with the mold challenge, not sure how good you would feel about that cleaning vs. starting fresh. Good luck and hope you got it solved! - DIYNate

Hey Trevor - sorry for my slow response and thanks for being the first to comment on the video. Couple thoughts as I didn’t / don’t know the answer (yet) to your situation. 1. It is possible, Ryobi may have changed the layout of their boards vs the ones in my video. Want to share what model / year your batteries are? We may get some other comments. 2. Wondering if you look very closely if you see a 1 hole reset button or something else that looks like it may work. May be a different style reset. I’ll keep my eyes out for other comments where people aren’t seeing the reset holes - I did review a few other very popular Ryobi reset videos but very few had this issue in the comments and no one seemed to have an answer for a different type of reset. Couple other reset tricks mentioned were putting it on and off the charger multiple times, cleaning the contacts and even putting it in a freezer. Not sure about those. Good luck and thanks again for commenting! - DIYNate

Question, why does it seem when I go to replace light bulbs, if I take them out and then plug them back in they all of a sudden magically work? I've had this happen three times on house light bulbs recently and just had this happen using the method in the video to replace the bulb. I decided to try plugging the old one back in and it worked fine. Is there some kind of corrosion or connection issue happening between the connections? Thank you for the video by the way.
@DIYNate
@DIYNate Ай бұрын
Hey there - great question and I certainly don’t have the technical knowledge to answer that question but I would bet either a combination of corrosion, or a loose connection or over time, the bulb not making as tight a connection anymore. With house light bulbs, I have seen that little copper piece in the socket getting pressed down and not making as strong a connection so when repositioning the bulb, it sometimes makes a difference or pulling that tab out a bit (carefully with the electricity off of course). I would imagine though that it is possible the bulb may be getting close to end of life as well but hopefully in your case just resetting the bulb is better than buying a new bulb. It likely is either a connection issue and no bulb issue or a bulb issue and no connection. Great thought and thanks for your comment! DIYNate

Tried all three methods and the water is still not draining. All pipes have no clogs in them. Any ideas?
@DIYNate
@DIYNate Ай бұрын
Well - I think you may want to start deconstructing the problem. If you disconnect the PVC connection and you see water is coming though the disposal and out of the drain for the disposal, then you can rule out the clog is in the disposal. I would definitely check that out drain from the disposal. Then, I would try seeing if past the disposal connection - pvc pipes down, I would try maybe pouring some water down to see if it drains fine. My guess is there may be a clog in one of the two of those places and once you know where the clog is, you can go about attacking it. You could try a drain snake in the down pipes and / or some Liquid Plumber (Plumr) / Drano. Good luck and hope you get it fixed! - DIYNate
@qfingers10
@qfingers10 Ай бұрын
@@DIYNate tried both of those already. When I run water through the disposal side it comes right out the open pipe. Disconnected the pipes all the way to the exit line out of the house and they are all clear. Also ran water out of the disposal side and that came through fine. Assuming it’s the piping leading out of the house

My battery is going what the second one is doing, it resets and then gives me one blinking light. But then the second time I click the battery button it goes back to 4 blinking lights! So it won’t charge and won’t reset
@DIYNate
@DIYNate Ай бұрын
Rats - sounds like you are having the issue I had with the battery that I couldn’t get to do more than reset and it still wouldn’t take a charge. Hopefully, we’ll get someone else to comment on how to fix that specific scenario / situation. After I reset that one, even though it was blinking, I put it in my leaf blower and it ran for about four seconds then died again. At this point, not sure what the fix is if anything for that specific combo but would love to hear if others have had success with a hack for that (e.g., the old battery in the freezer trick or something else). Hate that for you, brother! Good luck and best wishes! - DIYNate
