I think the idea of a more down to earth and relatable everyman type protagonist for this series can work… the problem though is that Garrod exists and does the entire concept better. In fact X is basically the better ZZ. It’s a more lighthearted show about a scrappy street kid trying to survive who starts out selfish but changes after running into the Gundam along with a girl that he has to save. I was utterly flabbergasted watching Nadia for the first time after years of reading about how Atlantis 'copied' it, only for me to see they were barely anything alike outside of the basic surface level details. I felt like I had been lied to. What especially got me was the comparison of the two doctor characters between Nadia and Atlantis, when Atlantis's doctor is African American and I am pretty sure Nadia's is supposed to be from Asia and Buddhist. Like come on.

I feel lucky to have seen Atlantis (and, while we are on the topic of movies Disney took behind the shed, Treasure planet) in my daycare, of all places, and that they stuck with me throughout my childhood and growing up. It is cathartic to see those movies that I have seen only once come back to the forefront in this age of internet.
