I love the reminders of NORTH BY NORTHWEST: Cary Grant traveling between rooms via the outside of a building from left to right, a man and woman conversing via nearby phone booths, Grant hanging above a precipice with a villain standing over him, Grant taking a non-shower, a director cameo, Ned Glass in the cast, a Mr. Bartholomew impersonator echoing the Mr. Townsend impersonator, etc.

Yes Robert Elswit won the oscar for Best Cinematography. He and director Paul Thomas Anderson work together on all of Anderson's films.

Back in the late 90s when I saw this, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Just complete immersion.

The eyeliner on all the men is hilarious. 😆I wonder what that decision was all about. Griffin Dunne (son of Dominick Dunne, who wrote about true crime among the wealthy elite, and brother of Dominique Dunne, the teenage sister in Poltergeist) is in a very funny, very underrated movie called After Hours (1985), a dark comedy directed by Martin Scorsese. It all takes place in one night as this guy experiences a series of misadventures while attempting to make his way home from Manhattan's SoHo district. All-star cast.

Good to see someone else enjoy another John Carpenter movie. This non hero, hero movie that Kurt Russell played was a first of it's kind as far as I know and the audience and critics didn't get it back then which only proves how far ahead of the curve Carpenter was. I suggest checking out other Carpenter movies like, "Prince of Darkness" and "Escape from New York" if you haven't already seen them.

The music HAS TO BE LOUD ... to convey a bit of "dissonance" ... just like the angles you mention! It is all used to give you a "slight headache" and the feeling that something is OFF.

A great example of "the villain not appearing through most of the movie BUT BEING FELT throughout". EVERYTHING is about him or how he affects "the world".

One of the most underrated / UNKNOWN movies of all times, because ... - it is a document of the time (americans usually have no clue how it is to live in a city occupied by four nations and the BUREAUCRACY this involves) - many people dont know about the destroyed cities in europe, but there were no outside sets involved in this - the "cuckoo clock remark" is important, because it is TRUE and people can learn from it for modern day politics

It might be "beautifully shot", but it still has the problem of BORING AMERICAN LANDSCAPE / ARCHITECTURE as the basis of it, which cant compete with anything in "To Catch a Thief".

I enjoyed the first two hellrazors when i first saw them when i was 9 and 10 years old a lot more than i do now. Part 2 was my favorite when i was a kid. I saw part 3 about 8 years ago and i like part 3 more than part 2. The first one is the best one but i enjoyed these movies a lot more when i was a kid.

This was the humour of the 70s. I went to a lot of comedy shows when I lived in NY. Bad language, racist slurs, homophobia and a lot of other stuff was hilarious and silly. You had to live back then to appreciate the jokes. I laughed a lot. I don't laugh when I watch Friends or any other comedy or comedy shows. They put down thier lives and act as victims. that's not funny.

Original script called for Grant to pursue Hepburn, but when he read it, he said he is too old for that. The screenwriter spent a sleepless night, gave some of his lines to her and hers to him, and presented a new version to Grant. He read it, got delighted, and agreed to star in it. And later he said he only wants one thing for Christmas, and that's another movie with Audrey Hepburn. Alas, it never happened.

When Cary Grant says to Audrey Hepburn that they were on "the street where you live" it's an inside joke. They were scheduled to co-star in the film adaptation of MY FAIR LADY but after seeing Rex Harrison in the Broadway production Grant said he couldn't top Harrison's performance and insisted they cast him in the movie.

Cary Grant was concerned about the age difference between he and Audrey Hepburn so the script was changed so that she chased him.

Yay! I am so happy to see a reaction to Pillow Talk! 😊 One piece of advice on your thumb nails, they aren't eye-catching. I almost missed this reaction. The title fonts and colors do not stand out. I noticed the same thing on Legends of the Fall, wrong font and no use of color somewhere to catch the eye. Just some feedback.

Gonna have to disagree with you. Daniel didn't change. The ominous music at the beginning should've clued you into his true nature. He never cared about the community or the boy. He might have attempted to rise above his sociopath nature at some point, but he failed. Daniel was an empty vessel from the beginning and the only thing that was ever going to fill it was hate.

There are some other Cary Grant moviesthat you may enjoy. For Halloween there s "Arsenic and Old Lace" a great comedy from 1941 released in 1944, "Father Goose" from 1964 also starring Leslie Caron, and His last movie "Walk Don't Run" 1966.

If you're as taken with Audrey Hepburn as you appear to be, then you need to watch Roman Holiday with Ms. Hepburn and Gregory Peck. Very good movie.

I don't think Audrey Hepburn was capable of making a movie where she didn't always look incredibly stylish and attractive. For a more dramatic side of her talents I can recommend 'Two for the Road' with Albert Finney.

One of my all-time favorites. In addition to the wonderful performances, the music of Henry Mancini and the Paris locations add to the romance. The plot probably doesn't make any sense, and it doesn't matter at all.

The gracefully aging Grant didn’t want to appear as lecherous in this film, & so demanded a rewrite that had Hepburn pursuing him romantically instead of the other way around before he would accept the role.
