Hi. I'm trying to antique project colored with acrylic paint. I tried using tan-kote before applying antique, but it gets paint darker and looks like shit. How long you wait after tan-kote applied? Or have you some other tips? Thank you.
@AttackLineLeather
@AttackLineLeather 2 сағат бұрын
@@Azarexify tan kote can darken leather and paint but generally i havnt had that issue. I use water based paints mostly so maybe that changes the outcome. I let my tan kote set till its fully dry. You can build up tan kote layers to build up the ptrotection from the antique. The antique will definitely darken paint and leather.

Thanks for this video. What would you say is the minimum size font you could tool into leather belts and wallets/cardholders?

@@jayplays568 thank you. As far as tooling goes you would just have to test your skills to see how small and legable you get. Id recomment a small blad swivel knife and some modeling tools. As far as stamps, the smallest i have were custom made and are absolutely tiny

This finished piece looks awesome. I have a question about your finishing, do you always use Tan-Kote or do you also use Resolene for some projects? I'm curious what the difference is and when to use one vs the other?
@AttackLineLeather

@@jayplays568 thanks soo much. I mostly use tan coat as my sealer. I have used resolene in the past and it works fine but i find the tan kote leave less of a chemicaly feel to the leather. I also use resolene to clean up panting accidents on my work

@@AttackLineLeather thanks. Are all pdf patterns for belts drawn in the inverse? Or are most drawn normally and then you can just trace normally without any flipping of the paper?
@AttackLineLeather
@AttackLineLeather 21 күн бұрын
@@jayplays568 soo i draw my belt patterns right onto the leather, but when i used to trace my patterns i left them normal. One of the reasons i flip the vellum is also because of the lead transfer from paper to leather. Im able to do this without wetting/casing the leather. If i mess uo or need to make adjustments, i just erase the lead and start over. Hope this is making sense

Very good job! I like the portability of your pipe stands. You inspired me and have me thinking about the leather pipe stand… I need something that is kind of sturdy since I’m occasionally clumsy…maybe it’s the rum beverage I enjoy when I smoke a pipe? What if the leather loop was made with three or four layers. Possibly glueing or lacing the layers together? And maybe make the layers staggard in height possibly a quarter inch to give a wider base? I saw one guy use leather spacers and a bolt with a nut rather than a snap. I might experiment and use spacers of varying heights so that it forms a slight cradle. I have not tried leather working since I was in the Boy Scouts 45 years ago. I might just give it a try. Thank you!
