Hi Ashton 🙂 I never take a reading with a thermometer, the main rule is to NOT put your heating element on "high" and a very good quality pot ( heavy bottom ) is your friend, this will ensure you don't burn your pastry cream. I have a few videos using this recipe here, if you watch another one maybe you'll pick up some more info you need. I really hope you take a chance and try this, you will NOT be disappointed. I learned this recipe in French baking school many years ago. Thanks so much for watching ! 😊

Just found your video The problem when I make banana bread is the middle is still not cooked all the way but the outside is brown. Maybe I mixed it too much before i poured it in the glass pan?
@BakeLikeAPro2 күн бұрын
The most common problem is an oven that is baking at too high of a temp. An inexpensive oven thermometer can help to see if this is the problem. Placement in the oven is also important, and of course - pre-heating the oven. If you place somebody in the oven while it is pre-heating you can have bad results, in this case extreme heat hitting your glass baking dish. Also if your dish isn't of a standard shape this can cause problems too. - P.S. - if you have a convection oven, turn convection OFF. -This will cause browning much quicker on the outside of all cakes before some are 100% baked inside.

I don't leave reviews usually but have to share my experience with this recipe. I have made this twice. First one came out like a charm. And I made doubled this recipe today. There were some obstacles as the electricity went off suddenly in the middle of baking. I decided to cook it in the gas stove. I thought that this may result in a denser cake. However to my surprise it was delicious. I topped it with chocolate fudge frosting.

@BakeLikeAPro9 күн бұрын
Hi Norita 🙂 Thanks so much for watching my video ! and yes, you can omit the pecans and add anything you love, chocolate chips are great, and walnuts really are the #1 nut that goes in a banana bread so you can't go wrong. Thanks so much for watching ! 😊
@CandlewoodSuitesMilwaukeeAirpo10 күн бұрын
do you have to use gelatin? can you just use the jello and water??
@BakeLikeAPro9 күн бұрын
Hi Candlewood Suites Milwaukee Airport 🙂 If you don't use the gelatin, you will never get the gummy bears to become that firm. IF you don't have gelatin, you can take a second package of Jello and add it to the mixture, but do not add any extra water. This will make them more firm. I hope this helps ( p.s. I don't know exactly how firm they will be with that extra box of Jello, it could take 2 extra boxes of Jello to make it the same firmness as you see here in my video ) Thanks so much for watching ! 😊

Can I use the same recipe replacing all purpose flour with whole wheat flour?
@BakeLikeAPro12 күн бұрын
Hello, yes you could. The dough will be much more dense, so that is something to keep in mind. I would try it with 75% whole wheat and 25% all purpose just to lighten it up a bit, but try it out and see how it goes. Thanks so much for watching ! 😊

Hi. I hope this message finds you well. I am 6 years to late fo question, but just need to know is 130 °c normal or fan force oven ? Cheers
@BakeLikeAPro17 күн бұрын
Hello, it is with forced fan OFF. I really try to do it this way as 99% of my viewers do *not* own force fan ovens. In North America they are a lot more expensive than a regular oven that doesn't have the convection option ( forced fan ) Thanks so much for watching ! 😊

Hey, I really like your videos. Could you please tell me why didn't you temper the chocolate?
@BakeLikeAPro17 күн бұрын
99% of my viewers do *not* know how to temper chocolate, it's *not* an easy thing to accomplish, so from time to time I will just use non-tempered chocolate so viewers know that they can also create what I did on the video. If you have watched most of numerous chocolate videos, you'll notice that I do indeed temper my chocolate, and I have videos on how to do this, both by hand and with chocolate machines. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching ! I do appreciate it ! 🙂👍

I came here seeking help... I made fudge last night...mine didn't set and I see where I went wrong. On mine there was no mention of boiling time. If mine didn't set. (Took screenshot off line. Can I save this by putting back into pot or do I need to start over.. Thanks! Yours is identical to the one I did..except it was a cup of PB. Wished I'd have seen this first!
@BakeLikeAPro17 күн бұрын
You can indeed save it by boiling it a bit longer, I'm going to guess it was the amount of time that you boiled yours. I can't really comment more than that as you used a different recipe and used a cup of peanut butter. I used 3/4 cup peanut butter so it does changes things as your will have a lot more moisture vs my recipe, so boiling would be longer. If you do try it again in future I hope you have success.
@Mike-mn8wy17 күн бұрын
@@BakeLikeAPro thank you. I froze it for now because I knew there had to be a use for it. I believe you're on it as far as my boiling time! Thanks for your help. I'm gonna put it back into a pot and give it another go! Definitely won't waste it. Thanks again!
