It's so barren. Sadly. No abundant trees. Just little sticks that will take decades to grow. When our subdivision was built many years ago, the builder agreed to plant trees at designated spots. Many owners cut down the trees. We still have our giant maple with it's leaves to rake every year. On hot days, however, many a driver will park beneath the green canopy to eat lunch or to drink coffee. I'm so grateful for that tree. And now all are forbidden to cut down any tree without permission from the City.

I will reiterate: it is gross. These F.I.R.E. industry goons are only trying to make themselves money by attracting people to the region. Cost of living, along with crime (both violent and not) are on the rise, services are in decline. I have yet to encounter one of these pro-uber-progress/YIMBYs who ever want to discuss (or even mention) the correlation between density and the increase in mental health and violence. Kitchener used to be a solid working class city. Now it is a shelled out corporate husk. Do better.

Summer in waterloo is great. most students go home and they leave all the amazing bars and restaurants empty enough that you know you can always get a table or quick service at take out places. not hating on the students at all, its just a sweet bonus for the locals.
