QUESTION: I Love this Video Gemma. Do you know how amenable Disney would be to allowing you to hire Profiling beds, Air-flow matress and hoist?

I am Autistic, but not to the point that I would require DAS. I believe they need to include more physical difficulties in this new System!

I'm sorry I don't understand exactly the explanation of what Disney has done are they making disabled people go to watch another attraction until they comparative wait time is reached that they would spend normally in line as a so called regular person has ended and then they can come back and get on the attraction? DAS IS so wonder for a multitude of disabled individuals.

I've been so excited to return to Disney, I'm now terrified. I have autism, I get nervous Everytime. I have also physical disabilities. I had always loved going to Disney because I felt included. This feels like twisted money scheme.

Disneyland CA stated that physically disabled people can still get the DAS pass because most of their quenes aren't wheelchair accessible. So I personally will make my next trip to Disneyland not Disney world. Disney world is the only theme park discriminating against the physically disabled. Even Universal lists "unable to stand in line" as one of the reasons to get their Disabled pass.

I honestly don't understand how this will stop people from abusing the system. You can't really prove an invisible disability. Parents are still going to lie about their child having Autism,ADHD or Aniexy. There is no way to prove someone is lieing about Aniexy and ADHD. They just say "there child is on the spectrum". How is discriminating against those with physical disabilities,heart conditions or other medical conditions going to stop people from abusing the system.

I am completely disgusted by Disney. The "wheelchair accessible" lines aren't even accessible. I pushed my sister in a wheelchair and those lines are incredibly hard to push a wheelchair through some those quenes. They are uphill,they are in the dark,they have MANY obstacles in the way etc. My sister actually got hurt in her while on line. Which is why we got DAS. Those lines quenes are a death trap and Disney not subject physical disable people those unsafe lines. I hope Disney gets sued.

I love My Little Pony from 1980s to the most current version. I think I like MLP Friendship is magic the best. It took a while for like the newest version on Netflix, but I do like how they did tie back into the previous timeline and characters

Just to be clear, DAS was always meant for those with developmental disabilities, not physical. Disney just failed to make that clear, until now

What was your comment on EasyJet? I couldn’t understand it…they don’t allow travelers with disabilities to fly solo? I’ve never flown them but am very curious as to how friendly their policies and practices are to customers with special needs

Love your video, thank you for posting this. I’ve traveled extensively through the Middle East as a solo traveler with a disability. I don’t think that the “stay on the plane until your chair shows up” is good advice. Unfortunately a lot of airports in the Middle East and North Africa don’t bring your personal chair to the aircraft door. As policy, the chairs are treated as special baggage that must be claimed in baggage claim. Although I’ve similarly felt that angst of not seeing the chair show up and thinking the worst, if you insist on staying on the plane you’ll just end up generating a lot of anger and frustration in a country where you may not speak the language.

Ive used DAS for the last 10 years, I will be a few lawsuits for Disney by taking peoples ankles out in the queues on my scooter, maybe we all should as they would soon change their minds😂😂, They really should do what Universal does and use the worldwide recognised Nimbus card which I have and you cannot get without proof. I was angry when I heard about this and TBH its another reason not to purchase DisneyWorld tickets and get a Disney fix in Paris who ask for the Nimbus card.

An able-bodied person with no disability experience can't possibly educate themselves without asking question to disabled people. It's where and how they do it that matters. Ask us normal stuff first like our names, our hobbies ect.

How does Disney know that the program is being abused. They are not medical professionals. This is honestly just disturbing, and makes disability travel even more inaccessible. I hope that Disney changes their mind about this. It seems like they want people to either pay for, whatever the fast pass system is now or rent a wheelchair, but also renting a wheelchair isn’t the answer. You can’t be forced to sit in some uncomfortable and potentially dangerous wheelchair because you can’t stand in line. That might not even help you in your situation. This is just poorly thought out.

The problem is the people that abuse the systen. When you can't see our illness or disability we look like a Fraud, even though that isn't true, It must make people feel they have to justify their actions. It's so wrong.

This is awesome Gem. from my experience the professionals are pretty bad at givin out this info. I have recently discovered a disability travel company called Limitless Travel. So if any viewers are in need of a break that does not smack of traditional respite I would highly recommend them. I've just had a week in the Cotswolds visiting The Roman baths in Bath, Hereford Cathedral and Gloucester Cathedral.

Along with being totally blind, I also have a spinal condition that prevents me from standing for long periods of time. We’ve use the dash pass in previous trips to Disney and it’s been extremely helpful. If this policy is going to continue, I don’t think I’ll be going back to Disney.

I’ve had ME/CFS for 45 years - my mobility has deteriorated in the last year and so yesterday I got a beautiful, refurbished power wheelchair. Today I’m upset because I am nervous to go out in our village and be seen. So I found your video which has helped a lot! I intend to go out later but definitely today. Thank you.

I got Covid the day before my Disneyland trip in January but my ticket can be used for two years. Now with the new DAS change though I don’t know if I even want to bother going back. I’m not leaving the line to get to the bathroom in an emergency and then have to butt in front of others to get back in line? My anxiety would go through the roof and people are of course going to assume I’m faking cuz I look normal. I wasn’t physically well enough to go to Disney as a child so on have gone a couple times as an adult and had hoped to go more.

To everyone complaining. My family is a multiple disability household. Mine are physical. I use an ECV, that is the accommodation I need. With that I can wait in lines just like everyone else. Without it, I cannot. Therefore, I am being accommodated under the ADA by being allowed to use a mobility device. My daughter has developmental disabilities, hers requires the DAS because no other accommodation makes it so she can wait in line with everyone else. DAS is the accommodation she needs. If your condition can be accommodated by something other than the DAS, then you don’t need the DAS, you simply want it.

Scooter rentals are limited in the parks and are $70 to rent. Not everyone can afford that plus some days Disney runs out of Scooters as early as 9:30. Some these lines quenes are extremely hard to push a wheelchair or scooter through if you are not used to using one. My sister had a very difficult time in the line quene using a wheelchair. She fell because the hills are extremely steep on almost all of these line quenes. This why we needed DAS and more people will continue to get hurt, fall,faint get sick,etc on these quenes because of these stupid new rules.
@amielawson8344
@amielawson8344 Күн бұрын
Disney isn’t preventing anyone from getting the accommodation they need. The changes just mean that those who don’t actually need a DAS won’t get it. Physical disabilities are accommodated with the use of a wheelchair or ECV. Speak from personal experience. That IS the accommodation. The mobility device provides the accommodation to assist the physical limitations. The DAS isn’t needed for a physical disability that is assisted by said mobility device. Just because you want the DAS, doesn’t mean you need the DAS.

Honestly I wonder why that virtual queue/return time isn’t more standard. People would spend a lot more money at the parks if they could buy some snacks before a ride and maybe they could also experience more of the lesser ridden attractions. I get that’s how the Genie thing works but think of how much food and souvenirs would be purchased if the queue was all virtual/time based (eg your ride time is 2 pm, please be in the queue 5-10 minutes before so you don’t miss your time slot)

This is really frustrating, I don’t have autism or ADHD, but I do have several chronic illnesses that prevent me from doing a Disney in one day. I have sensory processing problems, learning disability (doctors refuse to give me an adhd diagnosis) chronic fatigue, and a very weak immune system. I have no idea if I will qualify or not as most of the problems come from cancer I had several years ago, and I’m still liveing with side effects. Beacuse of these I can’t do Disney in one day. But it seems now that my trip won’t be enjoyable as we’re gonna need to find shade to sit in, and plan for ride that don’t have long cues so I can wait without getting sick or over stimulated. Mybe Disney really is takeing a turn for the worst.

I will use me as an example looking at one of my disabilities and its effects. I have difficulty standing or being on my feet for extended periods and may and have resulted in muscles randomly saying f this and giving in. But in most situations where the curb cut effect accessibility is enough with a priority access to seating is enough. combined with the fact that they are trying to rectify my walking (the hit the milestone adaptation is coming back to bite me) I don’t have a mobility aid by the looks of the new scheme even though I could if be a fall risk (I’m not because the help I’ve got before never caused me to get far enough to be declared one) I wouldn’t get it. I wouldn’t care if they had a tamagotchi queuing for me with a key point checker or they did magic on someone’s magic band to have the same effect so long as I have a seat I’m chill
