This was a pretty awful doom and gloom video. There are plenty of social supports to help you keep your house and catch up on your bills especially if you have the kids. As another commentor mentioned your house is also a source of easy finance if you have equity.

If you have an IRA and then get married and never contribute but that money continues investing and growing and then you get divorced, do you have to split that account even though it was opened before getting married?

Consider that rental is not any cheaper and in best cases you’re saving money over renting, in the worst cases your expenses are equal or slightly higher but you get some equity along the way( not to mention the stress of moving, packing/unpacking, finding a rental, finding new schools for kids, connecting / disconnecting utilities, etc…). You can refinance in money emergency with keeping the house, sell much later if the market is hot and downsize, just more options than selling during divorce because selling in a divorce doesn’t get you the best price.

I have been divorced for almost 29 years, and have not been in a romantic relationship in almost eight years here in Philadelphia. I have absolutely no idea what my ex husband does with his money. My eldest son and I tried to visit him at his job and house,not to ask for money,but to see how he was doing, probably a couple of years ago now. The job said he wasn't there and he didn't answer his door if he was at the house. My son was so disappointed,that I let it go. He was very upset. I didn't know what else to do. He told me (the last time I heard from him on social media that he was happy with his daughters mother. I don't know her. I've never gotten alimony, and have to figure it out for both my eldest son and I. I also have a younger son who is married. He and his wife have a daughter. My granddaughter is three months old.

I’m a foreign national, married to USA citizen (CA) in 2013. He visited me twice and never came back. I don’t have children from him. He was a pensioner at the time of marriage,am I qualified for spousal support? I have never been to USA

I left my job 18 years ago to raise HIS SEVERELY AUTISTIC SON and we had three children together. He filed in July 2023 and told me his money because he made it. We’re in VA. It’s a bit complicated because I haven’t worked in 18.5 years

The problem or divorce laws is that it rewards the least contributing spouse. A stay at home mom job is overrated. It is a no-brainer work. You don't need a college degreee, you don't have to pass any certifications. You don't have to adhere to any standards to do your job. You don't compete with anyone. The breadwinner spouse does all that. Parasite stay at home woman claims half of his income is unfair.

When all your children are school age, get a job, and you might not need a divorce. Usually couples fight about money and if your husband did not agree with your "stay at home mom career path" for next 40 years, that you are financially abusive to your husband and children.
@Janisg616
@Janisg616 6 ай бұрын
If you are stay at home mom with minor children you are safer than the dad who is always absent, because he has to work two jobs, so you insisted on staying at home and do nothing when your teenage children are at school. Put clothes in washing machine, prepare one meal per day - and your full time stay at home duties are done. Dishes and bringing out trash, is dad's duty, after his nightshift. If divorce happens, mom can stay at home, and dad who always worked two jobs has to rent a small apartment and get the third job, because now he has to support two homes, maybe two cars are needed. Dad has to pay childsupport and sometimes alimony because you chose be stay at home mom and did not work for over a decade, and now you cant get a job, because lack of skills.

Hmm mine is 10,000 in rears my attorney said she can not do anything cause we have no clue where he’s working! He has threatened after 10 years he’s going to quit paying! And I wasn’t working I am on disability had to get a part time job and barely making it! He’s lying saying he’s not working! Lying . By the way was married 32 years! Was awarded until I marry or death! Ohio here he can go modify it but he won’t because he can not prove he is not working! So it keeps building! He retires next year and they ARE ATTACHING IT TO HIS Social Security! The rears but and he can stop it to continue! Any help sir? I do pay taxes on it. But only received 1,200 this year. 420 was cause they took his State Taxes!

My ex took me through a divorce after 30 years of marriage. There was no acts of violence or infidelity. We separated for 3 years in May 2020. She went to the friend of the court in Galveston county and filed October 2022. The divorce was uncontested and we both agreed that she keep her car and 401k and I keep mine. Divorce was finalized in Jan 2023 without a qdro and it stated that husband keeps 100% of retirement and or 401k benefits and it said the same for her. I've since remarried in April 2023 and very happy. Now she just sent me a certified mail that needed my signature because she wants half of my 401k and it was a QDRO filed October 2023. She wanted it signed by me so she can take it back to the friend of the court to amend the divorce decree. Is she allowed to amend the decree after it's finalized??

So grateful you made this video, im currently being divorced by my Narcissist husband of 12 years, he filed back in June yet prolonged the divorce by not doing the discovery, it took him until November to turn it in (no consequences thus far) hes been shacked up with the secretary from his work since May, my next court date isn't until the end of January. Nightmare to minimize it

Leave the house, especially if you dont want to live in that town/anywhere near the ex. Get a structured settlement instead of alimony to avoid paying income taxes on the money and you still get it if you remarry
