Ultratech for sure, proven through the years. Likewire has a little more loose blade play but ergonomics are good. Microtechs hold their value more. But the satin finish with the tanto, will do it for me. Save the limewire for later, wait until more hard use videos pop up.

The good thing about these knives is that if the leaf spring breaks, you can actually change the leaf spring very easily. Buy a new one online (they sell them) and just take out the broken spring and slip the new one in there till it clicks. No disassembling the pinned knife either. These are the only old school leaf spring autos I know of where the leaf spring is replaceable and replaceable without taking apart the knife

Before I call him this week want your opinion on this Piranha Knives Excalibur as of today. Thank you

I personally had some issues in the past with Piranha Excaliburs. The last 1 I reviewed was the newer batch from last year with the s-30V blade instead of the 154cm. I’m not sure of any changes made to the knife, but it seemed to fire better. That one I fired quite a bit and not 1 misfire. I would buy one again. I really like bigger knives, I think that is why I keep letting the Piranha go. It has a 3.2 inch blade and I tend to purchase near 4. It is a very good knife, blade HQ has some right now.

You are correct, there was lots of different years that I had problems. Select fire, with double stamped serial number (2 different numbers), at least 3 combat troodons and an ultratech misfires around the same 2013 to 2017 times. A halo 5 and 6 with lock out problems. I did get pissed at one point and sold all my Microtechs, but got myself back into them eventually, happy with what I have now.

@@Momo-hy7qjI personally owns 5 hawks model C include the John wick 4 set. No doubt hawks knife is way better than Microtech, with zero blade play, am I ever going to use it, definitely NOT. I have over 20 Microtech knife in my collection, and also I have serval Chinese copy of the MT knife. I find the Chinese copy has better frame than the original MT, comparing the Ultratech between the Chinese copy and authentic UT, I still prefer the Chinese copy, the reason behind it is, the housing of the knife is larger and slightly bigger blades, and I need to mention both OTF miss fired serval times

Curious how the new scarab compares to the new combat troodon?
@Momo-hy7qj
@Momo-hy7qj 4 ай бұрын
Ergonomics are better on the combat troodon and always have been, as far as strength goes, probably about the same. Thinner blade stock on the combat troodon and a set of locking sears to match it. And a thicker blade stock on the scarab with some beefy locking sears. Both action is smooth. Pretty much comes down to how the knife feels in your hand. I own the previous gen Combat Troodons, and I prefer to carry one of those over the new scarab just because of ergonomics.

Flip a coin, lol, I usually do that. If I could only have one to go with, I personally would choose the combat troodon, more of a sleek design, ergonomic and great feel, good pocket weight and has the newer options you are interested in.

Wow man it's a true grail! There is not much out there that is that cool. I also had the opportuinity to get one of these from a german dealer and I was almost buying it. It was a pretty hard decision not to buy it. But it was about 1'500-2'000 dollars and I just wasnt ready to spend that kind of money for any knife. I have a couple of knives that cost multiple hundreds of dollars and I started to spend more and more. So I had to stop buying knives. Of course one could maybe resell knives again especially such rare ones but I dont want to sell things that I like.

Mint, I have two Darrel Ralph knifes. I meet him when I lived up north had a gunshot for many years. I first meet Darrel at the Amchar Wholesale show in up state NY first show they had. Then I would see him down in NYC knife show when you could have those shows in NY. Darrel would lay all of his knifes on these cool little red pillows at the show it was such great time at that show in the hotel in NYC. I bought two knifes from him at different times. I bought one at the NYC show on west side from Darrel and one from Bud Nealy. Darrel was very cool and nice guy. Then I bought prototype knife he sold me at the Shot Show in 2010 when it was in Orlando Florida . I was sad to read that he passed away. Darrel even went and told me to buy from this company Meyerco knives he lic them to use his stuff cheap knock offs but he said quality was good to put in my cases. I did not want to but I listen to Darrel and sold tons of them besides the customs. Joe Perry from Aerosmith has one of those Expendables knifes also Darrel sold him a lot of knifes he said. For sure Darrel was so right he gave me great advice god rest his soul.

Yes, you are right, just watched, I am very interested in seeing the longevity of this knife. Should hold up fine, not a big fan of grivory, should have been at least G-10 for the price. The 420 liner is something Benchmade has used on lots of their lineup to strengthen handles and has been proven over the years, the liner is used in the infidel and that knife is great. I have a guy at my job that is waiting for one in coyote tan, hopefully he will get it soon. I honestly am not interested in this one enough to spend that kind of money on cheaper materials, I would go with a hogue or guardian tactical before this. Nice knife as far as looks go.
