Is mineral oil only good for metal?
@Rafedavic
@Rafedavic 3 сағат бұрын
Still decent for wood but BLO is better for tools because it polymerizes aka hardens over time in the pores of the wood, making your tool stronger while keeping it from drying out too much. Mineral oil is often used on cutting boards since good quality mineral oil is odorless, tasteless, and food safe, although I wouldn’t go drinking the stuff.

Your voice sounds like a mixture of California, a hint of New England, former NFLer and NPR Sports announcer Tim Green, and Red Sawxer Bill Lee, who has worked with axes plenty, making his own brand of baseball bats.

Or just buy a new one every month……that’s just stupid dude. You’re only focusing on someone who “needs” to care for the axe handle. Are we short on small sticks now?

Also you can coat with a liquid wax finish. With grits from 800,1200 and 4,000 if you want a bit more attention. The Liquid WAX will have embedded itself into the grains of the wood w/ every coat. Then it could last you for years and years. 😉 Take care and happy woodworking ❤

that’s for show axes… Real loggers and outdoors men just dip it in a used motor oil and let it drip wipe it down works for all wood tool handles actually works best if you submerge the whole thing in motor oil the old ones have been doing it for a long time like treating Haywagon poor old motor oil on it push it in with the broom and let it sit… Time to go to work we ain’t got no time for no fancy oil Country boy can survive
