Do you recall what time you boarded? And did you board with special privileges, or as a common Joe?

What night was Morimoto offered? A sea day or a port day?

Great question. It was a sea day for us. I'm not sure if it changes depending on the itinerary though.

We're on the Koningsdam to Alaska in September, also from Vancouver. We've pre-booked Tamarind, Marimoto by Sea, Rudi's Sel de Mer and the Alaska seafood Boil. Huge seafood fans here. Toying with booking Nami Sushi but the voice of reason says we've paid and arm and a leg for the cruise and should eat the food we've already paid for - in the MDR.

Maybe you visit Nami for a quick appetizer since it's a la carte. This way you don't spend too much extra :)

Good information. I think it's important to note most verandah rooms on the Konningsdam do not have that size balcony (suites and larger rooms may). The large verandah balconies are mostly found on deck 4 (only at the front and back beyond the lifeboats) and are a result of the design due to placement of the lifeboats. A looks at the deck plans will show which rooms to choose if the larger balcony appeals to you.

From my understanding you can have you room attendant empty it for you so you can put your own stuff in there. I didn't do this, however, I did take back a soda or two that I ordered with my package and put it in the fridge.

You’re 110% wrong about the conductor. The conductor was not your tour guide / narrator. Great footage tho!

Hmm... the guy that was in our car said he was speaking across the entire train, we just happened to have him in our car. So he was the "narrator" but perhaps not the conductor?

Hi, thanks for the review. I didn't book thru the cruiseline but booked directly with the compamy. Is the train very crowded for the 1pm ride? I read that passenger who booked independently board after ALL the cruiseline passenger board first. Will there be seats for party of 4 ? Or u think we all have to sit separately? Thanks.
@AllAboardWithJoe
@AllAboardWithJoe Ай бұрын
I would reach out to the company. Sadly, I don't have your answer since I booked through the cruise line. They didn't make mention of priority boarding since we booked through Holland. I'm sure the company can make sure you get seats together.

Great video but a couple things. 1) If you cruise a lot you should know they are super sensitive about filming near security. I personally love to film my boarding onto the ship too but lately have stopped because I know its not allowed. So i film walking up to that point, shut it off then immediately turn on right past security 2) Didn't you get assigned a boarding time? You seemed surprised when you were the first after arriving at the terminal super early. Like people are still getting off the ship at 9:30. No wonder the staff looked at you weird, its because they didn't expect new passengers that early.
@AllAboardWithJoe
@AllAboardWithJoe 2 ай бұрын
Hey Chris! Thanks for the comment. You're not wrong, but allow me to explain. I totally understand not filming at security, but my reaction was more that he was super rude about it. Without hesitation I apologized and put my camera away. By the way, it wasn't like a big DSLR camera; just a small Osmo Pocket. That being said, he was very rude and later in the cruise he was rude over something else unrelated to filming. Not really a nice guy haha. As for your second comment about the weird looks. There wasn't a set boarding time, which I thought was very odd. According to a guest and a staff member, they said Vancouver does it differently. Not sure how true that is because it was definitely odd to me. ALL OF THAT being said, there has to be someone that is first to board, right? The weird looks wasn't a big deal but there was definitely some unprofessional things going on when I was greeted by staff, which I can forgive since those poor people work so hard and were probably just finished dealing with those exiting their vacation. Hope that all makes sense. Thanks again for your comment. Hope you stick around :)

So glad you added this! We cruise on this ship in 3 weeks! First time cruiser ( family vacation) and I saw your room had a door. We have a joined room as my brother is in the other room next to me. How is the sound? can you hear your neighbour? Do they have black out curtains? Also, do we go through american customs when boarding the ship? I heard they have new biometrics technology? Thanks so much in advance!

You hear the neighbors a little but not bad at all. Assuming your neighbor (brother) isn’t too rowdy 😉, you should be ok. Curtains aren’t blackout, but they work really well. Never had an issue sleeping. The biometrics was very impressive and super fast! Hope you have a similar experience. Get there early so you can cruise on through. AND ENJOY!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

@AllAboardWithJoe 2 ай бұрын
The way cell service works on cruise ships is pretty straightforward. I would highly recommend never using it unless for an emergency. If you connect to the cell tower on the ship, it is costly. I have AT&T, so don't quote me on this since I honestly don't know if TMOBILE has some sort of special deal. I imagine they don't. Give them a quick call and find out just in case I'm wrong :)

Nice cabin, huge balcony. Too bad they don’t have a dining table out there on the oversized balcony as that would be a fun place to have room service breakfast, weather permitting. Thanks for the tour. One note - you called this a suite several times but you are staying in a veranda cabin, not a suite. Holland America offers four sizes of suites, all larger than this veranda cabin.

Some people jump off cruise ships intentionally, but many others are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and make poor decisions like standing on their balcony railing, leading to accidental falls.
