i am just learning and your teaching makes a lot of sense and I am motivated. THANK YOU. I need to buy me a piano because the keyboard feels a bit different and i find it quite hard for the fingers. I have small hand..... i hope i will be able to play after following you.... i need to make a daily practice habit...... thanks again. I probably will get some lessons once my fingers are good with walking on the keys..... God Bless!

Hi, I'm from Myanmar and we mostly sing Burmese (Myanmar) praise and worship songs at our church. Most of the chords progessions or notes of the songs here are hard to find online. So I'd be grateful if you could make a video on how to play worship songs by ears.

Great video! You have a very good way of explaining it. The only thing is that at 3:03 at the key of A, it's missing the G sharp. Great teacher tho. 10 out of 10.

Hey Garret, thanks for these nuggets man. Quick question, do you know where I can download a pdf with the root keys and the inversion keys as well?

I am starting piano way, way late in life but your video helped something in my brain click where other videos haven’t. Thank you for taking the time to share the information. 👏🏼

Awesome. I had a similar approach when I first started playing bass in church. Learning keys is more difficult to me, but I'll continue to plug away at it and apply the principles you recommend. Thanks!
I have the yamaha e373 it has midi built in but doesn't have any faders. It sounds good but doesn't quite sound like the piano you have. Would this still be achievable with the software you are using ?
@garrettijohnson24 күн бұрын
Hey Paul! Yes that keyboard would still work great! I would purchase Ableton Intro if you don't have Ableton already, then you could follow the steps I talked through in this video for getting going with your own worship tones through that keyboard. Not having faders is hard, but that's totally fine too - you could always get one of these: amzn.to/4cxoycU for mapping your tone and volume controls to.

Great job Garrett, you are a God send. Waiting for the next video on playing tips. May God Bless You and your ministry.
How are you raising and lowering levels during play, pedal or the laptop controller?
@garrettijohnson25 күн бұрын
My Ableton Template has all the controls inside of there, and I map the controls onto my MIDI keyboard so that I don't have to touch the laptop at all while playing. I control via the faders and knobs on my MIDI keyboard.

Super informative video! Very well explained! Can you also show how to make the chords sound different for each song? Ie. Daigle's "You Say" has that pattern at the befinning where she isn't just playing the chords, but the individual notes in the chords.
