It's always a pain for the first 5 minutes when you change supersonic to any other board that is twice taller. Doesn't matter which one. Pushing technique needs some time to adapt, and the amount of time is individual. But when you get used to it, it's just a different experience. There is so much fun on vanguard because it's as flexible as a sofa. It is less stable but very fun in its own different way. Pumping and carving are like magic. Icarus is somewhere in the middle between supersonic and vanguard. A little bit lower then vanguard because of drop through, more stable. Everyone says icarus is the best board ever, but personally for me it was not my board. I cracked the bolts every month, and finally it began to crack near the dropouts, and the guys from loaded exachanged it to vanguard, which I'm happy with. I also tried dervish several times. It reminded me of icarus despite being longer and having more flex. But again, drop through truck mounting is not for me, it felt like something is stealing my energy. Maybe it's just my poor technique.

It totally depends on your setup. In my case I have vanguard flex 3 on medium bushings, so the deck flexes a lot under my weight of about 85 kg, but the bushings on paris trucks keep it overall a little bit harder with extra rebound. The supersonic has an asymmetric setup (50/43 + wedge/de-wedge by the deck itself), medium flex (7-ply) and very soft front bushings. The rear truck is not flipped and has hard bushings. This all means that both boards are pumpable with wide arcs at low speed (up to 10-13 km/h). I usually skate with my wife and friends and they don't ride faster. The technique differs a little bit because of trucks and decks flex, but not much. But when we speak about the faster pace, like 15-20 km/h, there is no way vanguard can compete with supersonic even in this configuration. Because on supersonic you may wiggle, on vanguard flex 3 it's not effective. And ss can be made even faster by flipping the rear truck. Concerning the carving I find supersonic more stable and predictable at high speeds. But both boards are fun, that's why I ride both regularly.

The board will become almost 200 g heavier, more "lazy" (have more inertia) and 5 mm higher. In terms of LDP on good straight roads Hoku are even maybe better then Karma. But when city streets cruising maybe not. Haven't tested them, those are just my thoughts.

Видел, что ребята собирают на брекетах g-bomb и торсионных задних подвесках. Ценник комплита уходит за 1000 евро легко. Из недорогих китайцев есть lepsk8, можно хорошо сэкономить, посмотрите, по отзывам они ок. Если же тратить много денег не хочется и требуется большая универсальность, то есть pantheon supersonic, есть у zenit несколько комплитов. Считается, что суперсоник всех их заруливает, но сам не сравнивал.

Спасибо! Каждая доска имеет свои особенности, от каждой свои ощущения. В каком-то смысле каждая требует привыкания, даже сейчас, когда я меняю доски регулярно, приходится первые минут 10-15 просто привыкать с ощущениям: флекс, глубина приседа при пуше, управление траками, колёса - всё влияет, не только форма деки и дроп даун. Из хороших новостей: при регулярной смене досок туда-сюда те новые скилы и ощущения, которые при этом появляются, переносятся в том или ином виде на все доски. Т.е. на мой взгляд менять доски нужно, чтобы просто быстрее прогрессировать. Можете посмотреть на этом канале видео, как Вера сранивала Supersonic и Loaded Icarus, при этом она до этого каталась только на LY Dinghy. With my setup it feels a little bit less stable because of very soft bushings in the front truck and smaller wheels. Both make supersonic like more turny. But in fact when you gain speed it is totally ok. No wobbling, no instability. You just need a slightly better balance at start.

@@xiaochenliu2326 they look the same height but due to flex (mine is 7-ply) and a little bit larger wheelbase supersonic might get a little bit lower when you ride it depending on your weight and efforts. So from the sense of just pushing they are the same, from the sense of going on top of obstacles, jumping from curbs etc prana is more "all terrain".

Отчасти можно, но у меня это получается делать в очень специальных условиях: хороший асфальт, штиль, мышцы свежие. Т.е. эффективности при моей технике (правда она далека от идеальной) хватает, чтобы в этом случае не терять скорость. Я бы сказал, что делать это не нужно, доска явно не для этого. Если поиграть с углами подвесок, поставить поменьше колёса... но зачем, если есть трип и суперсоник. Такие вот мысли про это.

Спасибо за отзыв. А чем так зацепил вас фатом? Дорогая доска, тяжёлая, не для пампа и жёсткая. Ни рыба, ни мясо. Не встречал пока фанатов. Хотя отдельно на других деках видел сборки на тех же зи-брекетах у людей. Могу попробовать договориться взять фатом на обзор здесь, но пока не могу найти интереса к ней.

It's possible to go downhill like 30-40 km/h probably without wobbling. But as far as I know downhill is a discipline requiring a special setup that also includes a stiff deck, so I don't recommend dervish for downhill. Concerning the uphill, I'd also recommend a more stiff drop-down deck, you'll waste less energy.

Спасибо. У меня был икарус, не сложилось у меня с ним, то болты рвал, то расслоение деки началось. Теперь только топ-маунты использую. Пантеон понравился просто, для моих целей самое то. Заниженная дека для пуша, ассиметричная конфигурация для пампинга.

У нас тоже не так много подходящих мест прям с хорошим асфальтом для мелких колёс, велодорожки чаще всего просто нарисованы абы где, хотя кажется, что их много. Но есть города, где прям есть, где катнуть, например Нови Сад. Там велодорожки везде.

@@BalkanWalks66 ахах да уж, это он умеет красиво исполнять))) у нас ещё город холмистый, основная проблема в этом, равнина только набережная и так местами в парках. Смотрю канал британца (Bartek) ещё, вот у них там раздолье, гоняет по всему городу вообще, круто прям.

@@Vitos700x Ж))) Этот канал тоже был вдохновлён видосами Бартека отчасти, хотя и не только. Просто приколько было прогресс снимать, ну а потом и выкладывать, хотя хз, зачем вообще это кто-то смотрит. И у нас холмы, в этом есть особый кайф: прокачанная жопа и футбрейк. А местные ребята гоняют вниз карвами прямо по тротуарам и проезжей части, мне за ними ездить даже стрёмно. А вот вверх они не так сильно любят.

В том году Бартек вдохновил к покупке Dinghy Emboss своими покатушками по городу и памп парке)

Привет. Да, икарус начал слегка трескаться, заменили по гарантии как раз на вангард. Скажу, что все доски хороши :) но мой совет найти сообщество в вашем городе или соседнем и всё своими ногами попробовать. Даже у нас, где катают 3 калеки, кое-что можно найти. Могу ещё добавить, что если пампите агрессивно и весите 80+, то я бы не рассматривал дроп-сру. Только топ-маунт. Для совсем новых ощущений можно выбрать что-то из другого лагеря, например памп-снаряд на брекетах или суперсоник/зенит лдпшный.

@@BalkanWalks66 вес 95, ну вот лэндяхтс выдерживает нагрузку уже лет 7) очень качественная доска оказалась. Заказал вангуард с авито в общем, надо пробовать. В городе народ есть, но такой доски нет. Икарус в том году пробовал у парня, понравилась. Но пока все что продают дорого, ну и риск что там будет по состоянию. А на счёт лдп это очень дорого для меня пока. У лоадед вот интересная появилась Fathom и цена вроде норм, может быть в следующий раз уже её возьму, выглядит как то что нужно, у нас длинная набережная в Нижнем Новгороде около 10км и вот по размерам, высоте, размеру колес и конструктиву все это смотрится очень интересно как универсальная доска. PS: есть ещё landyachtz dinghy emboss, тоже интересный круизер, но брал его больше из за дизайна:) хотя кататься тоже на нем свой интерес есть.

Икарус убьёте быстро. Что-то ребята недорасчитали в дропаутах, к сожалению. Мне лоадед написали, что у него ресурс 200 часов пампинга, когда я с ними общался. В моем случае вышло в несколько раз меньше. У фатома видел проблемы с брекетами, ломучие, а сама доска тяжёлая. Для пампинга не особо. Насчёт вангарда поздравляю, классная доска. Какой флекс выбрали? Вчера много пампил на нём по городу, у меня флекс 3, вес 85. Такой диван, но очень фановый. И главное топ-маунт.

Да, динги у нас тоже есть, но после покупки пранаямы он одиноко стоит в углу.

Hi, Michael! Thanks. The setup has changed a bit since then - new front truck because of the broken pin of bear gen 6. What happened? Well, I've learned that one should never pump while riding through a puddle. The hard way.

@@BalkanWalks66 Really? Can you estimate how much kilometers the bear Kingpin lasted ? And yeah pumping in wetness can cause issues :D

Yes, my estimation is about 600 kms and 4 months of intensive use, mostly LD-pumping. No jumps, tricks, crashes, decent road quality. Kingpin is not the only problem on bear gen 6. It takes about 200 kms to get the front bushing's insert to become trash. So I had to change bushings to the harder ones. But it didn't help either, though slowed down this process. Those two a well-known issues in LD community. I know some guys just change kingpins by odometer or once a season. But I ride for more than 300 kms per month so don't want this shit to happen again.

@@skate-horizons I've seen some people suggest that a hollow kingpin has no business on a pumping board, but I more suspect that Bear drilled them slightly off center. Most skateboarders would never push them hard enough, but pumping is perfect for work hardening the metal until it breaks. I happy I went with the wider 9.5" Supersonic with Paris trucks.

There is a simple way for a board without a tail. For all curbs not taller then the half of diameter of the wheel I do this: 0. Gain some medium speed. Don't go too slow. 1. Preload the deck if it has flex (all of mine are flexible). This is optional but helps with step 2. 2. Just a moment before your front wheels touch the curb, unload the front leg keeping some (but not all) weight on the rear one. It will make the front wheels roll without weight like you are not standing on the deck at all. 3. Immediately transfer all your weight on your front leg and give some forward momentum. This will allow the rear wheels roll over the curb without being stuck. The key here is the correct timing between steps 2 and 3. If the weight transfer is not fast enough there is a risk of hitting the curb with your rear wheels while having your weight on them, thus they will get stuck and you will likely step off the board. And the board will likely go in the opposite direction. Physics, Thou Art a Heartless B***h :)) These 3 things also help: having big wheels, having a drop-down or double-drop deck, having flex.

@@Asheanae this will definitely work with your dropcat 38, so nice board, wanna try it. Unfortunately longboarding is not very popular here is Serbia so... Concerning your second question. Just put your board in front of the curb, leave a 10 cm gap between the front wheels and the curb. While standing on the ground put your rear leg (the one you push with, i.e. right one if your are a regular) on the back side of the deck, make a little pressure and kick it forward slightly. The front wheels will roll over the curb. This is the movement you need to try to achieve. Just put no weight on the front truck. Whether they bounce over or just roll depends on many factors like speed, weight distribution, wheels diameter and material, curb incline and so on. I don't personally like dervish, mostly because of my ex-relationship with a drop-through deck. But comparing supersonic with dervish directly in terms of pumping, the former is much more energy-effective (and that's why it is an LDP deck), the latter is fun, but requires full body pump.

@BalkanWalks66 That's what I want to hear! I'm really busy trying to justify the cost of a supersonic to myself. It also seems very agile, is that true? Can it turn well? How does it cope up and down hills? I don't want to speed downhill, but I must navigate some in my city.

@@Asheanae well, I'd recommend having both of these boards :) Though I prefer not a drop-through dervish, but a vanguard (have a look at my other shorts, it is also pumpable but requires different techniques). Concerning the supersonic: it's known as the best LDP board for it's money. My 7-ply is agile for me (85 kg) and I like it. It turns well with bear 130 mm or paris v3 150 mm rkp at front. My setup is not for downhill, I use foot brake for cruising, we also have hills here. And it goes uphill perfectly. For an over-crowded city may be not the best choice though, I'd look at some other mini-cruisers like ly dinghy, especially if you need to go by bus or by metro. I just haven't tried riding in big crowded places like the center of New York, etc. In Belgrade we sometime have crowds at the riverside of Danube, but usually I prefer to not race across people. If you want to ride long distances fast over flats or uphills, go for supersonic for sure. You'll love it. It will be the fastest board at this price range.

@@BalkanWalks66 Thank you! That's my mind made up! I'm in a small provincial city that's very spread out, not crowded. It's has lovely flat loops at the waterfront, but large hills to get there! You're the same weight as me, and there's a complete available in 7 ply with Paris v3 and 85mm cagumas. Soo..... 😃

@@Asheanae I'm happy my response was helpful. But please consider the 7-ply more carefully. Yes, 85 kg is ok for it, but a little bit more - and you'll have to change your rear truck position or you run a risk to crack the deck's tail. What kind of pumping do you think this change could improve? High-speed wiggle, medium-speed or full-body at lower speeds? I usually do the first two on ss.
