Is it better to use your dominant foot or your non-dominant for takeoff?
@hopsquad
@hopsquad Ай бұрын
For long jump, it’s common to use your dominant foot. But if you feel like you get more pop off of your non-dominant foot there’s nothing wrong with jumping off of that one.

Does this workout also help High Jump?
@hopsquad

I’m not a high jump coach, but I would guess that there is some crossover since it’s a pretty generic plyometric workout.

@@hopsquad thanks! Also, for the weighted jumps, how heavy are the weights?
@hopsquad
@hopsquad Ай бұрын
@@unidentified6363 These were 8lbs but if you stay in the 5-10lbs range, you should be able to move quickly through the jump.

Don’t jump as high! 😉

But seriously, practice takeoffs into the sand pit so you can just run out of it and not land on a hard surface, and pay attention to your takeoff angle. If you have a camera, have someone record you doing it from the side and practice until you are hitting a more shallow angle at takeoff.

Neither option is limited by gender. Boys and girls can do either technique.

How many reps need to do this coach?

2-3x for about 20-30 meters would be a good amount. This is a light warmup drill or pre-competition drill to prep the body for more full-speed jumping.

The biggest things to work on are your speed, takeoff, and landing. The flight technique is important, but not as important as those 3 areas.
