Still remember that game like it was yesterday. Watched it at my Uncle’s house in SoCal and won’t forget how both of us (originally from Montréal) went crazy when Floyd hit that 💣 - it was that moment when I thought that this was our year. 😢

Disappointed this didn’t go into the transaction with Jeffrey Lurie more and how he cut out French broadcasts, nonetheless alienating the French-Canadien following of the expos

When asked why he threw the ball at Keith Olbermann's mom, Chuck replied, "I was aiming for her stomach and 68yrs ago." In other news, sales of Knoblauch jerseys up by 2025%.

Sammy Sosa as a leadoff hitter. The loaded Expos who were robbed of an opportunity to win the World Series. Interesting times. Still could never figure out why they couldn't wait until AFTER the season to negotiate a contract. The strike in August was the dumbest thing ever.

I do not buy the argument: "Well, everyone else was juicing so at least 50% of pitchers he faced were also on the sauce". It is the easiest way for baseball fans to not have to take a moral stand and keep Barry Bonds out because it is the right thing to do. There were plenty of players who didn't juice. A kid I faced in high school several times was indicative of how bad cheating is. Harry (Junior) Herndon had only about 50 IP for the Padres in 2000-2001. I KNOW he never juiced because his parents were very strict, and he was so naive he thought "buying juice" meant buying Creatine. He got lit up by guys who were named as steroid cheaters, demoted, and never played again. Those runs he gave up did not happen in a vacuum. For every home run, someone's ERA went up. Mr. Herndon never made more than about $300k playing the game. BUT, he did it the right way. He and others like him were robbed of any career they could have had in the game. Saying that other players did it does not make it right.

I'm a Mariners fan and I always had a soft spot for the Expos. Shame when they left town after the '04 season. They always had some exciting teams and players, even if they weren't contention-worthy.

Not sure how I never seen this before. We lost the team but the Expos provided so many great memories for Montreal sports fans. 1979 was the coming out year for the team and was great year coming up short to Bucs who went on to win World Series. Great times! but we can't go back.

In 1987 the NFL did the player strike but they also had replacement players if they would have done that in Major League Baseball in 1994 we wouldn't have that problem.

They had the best record in baseball at the time of the strike. Then before the '95 season, they were in shambles cause some of their best players were with other teams.

Love these classics.. Are there any full televised broadcast vs San Diego Padres for the '79 season or '80-84? Looking for old memories of Jack Murphy Stadium and can't find any games for the Padres other than a short clip vs Cubs.. Any old Expos games in San Diego for '83 season? Searching for Any in existence

The thing that really drives home how good the Expos could have been was that they went 88-74 in 1996! Mark Grudzilienek (however you spell it) had over 200 hits and hit 300. Henry Rodriguez hit 36 dingers out of nowhere. Ken Hill went 16-10 with the Rangerzzz that year with a 3.63 e.r.a (which was 45 percent better than league average when accounting for ballpark). If they could have had Hill and Wettland for 96, they could have won it again.
