Star looks like she is a Herreshoff Marco Polo (H-55). The design was published in Rudder Magazine in 1945 or so....for double-handing long distance fast passages, ostensibly for servicemen who wanted to go back to the tropics after the war. I built one (Valkyrie) back in the early 70's and given the wind she was indeed fast....and 1800 mile range under power for when there is no wind. Like in 1982, when the trades shut down on the passage from Cabo San Lucas to the Marquises...we motored from 3degrees N, the rest of the way....about 1200miles. We were one of two boats to survive the hurricane in the anchorage in Tahiti in 82, all others broke their gear and went to the beach. Blew all the paint off the front of the masts....kinda breezy. -Veteran '66-68
