The Olds is a different kinda foot/pedal control, because of the lower torque curve, master it, and they were very fast!😮😊❤

1972 Olds 442 W-30. 455 CI V8. 300 'net' Hp/410 Lb-ft of 'net' torque. LoL!! Yeah, maybe just on the left bank and with just the primaries.

The GT500 launches are weak. They need a retune to launch any decent. Once their launch is fixed, the 500 runs 10.7@133mph stock, juat fizing the bog at launch.

The new GT500's bog down a lot if you launch it and not really fair without slicks vs awd M5 comp. In a roll run taking awd out of it the GT500 runs away.

Lol! Those g m full frame cars really hook up! I've seen other comparative runs against half a dozen different pony cars against something like a Pontiac with a 421 in it and it just hooks up better than everything else.

They used a stop watch back in those days... a '65 Bonneville 2+2 with a 421" V8 couldn't really do 0 - 60 in 3.5 seconds like one magazine reported...

The MPH reminds me of my 69 340 Swinger, 3.23 automatic, it was consistent 99.98 to 99.99 mph all year long. I figured at some time through the year I’d pick up a bit of a tail wind and finally see 100, but it was not to be.

Looking at these comments a lot of y'all don't really know shit loll. For anyone to say a scat is running low 12s a 12.19 to be exact. That scat is tuned as well. Just because someone say their car is stock that doesn't mean you listen to them. Dodge has the scat pack at around 12.4-12.6 in a quarter and thats on a prepped track. Ive seen a lot of my friends bring their scats to the track and they literally run a 12.9-13.0 so if this scat is running faster then what dodge quoted them at that scat is tuned. Please people be smarter then that. But then again its to many people that are opinionated and not really looking at the facts or truly have no clue when it comes to racing. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ Pick up a book and learn.

Both are good cars and almost equal. The ISF has more HP and more Torque but introduce some corners and the gap gets wider. The M3 ran the Nurburgring in 8 minutes 5 seconds. The ISF ran it in 8 minutes 18 seconds. That's a 13 second gap and anyone in the racing world will tell you 13 seconds is HUGE. Lexus has reliability no doubt. That cannot be argued but no question about which is the better drivers car. You'll get more out of an M3 if you have the pockets and know-how to maintain one.

Put the same engine in the Olds 442 and it would have beaten the Vette easily. 442's were built on the luxury Cutlass frame/body plan. It was a TANK. But it still beat Pontiac GTO's built on the lightweight Temepst platform with very little effort. My '69 H/O Hurst Special 455 cu in. would do 13.4's when I brought it home. It ran low 12's without working up a sweat after we tinkered with it a bit. Mostly just taking out the front fender liners, passenger and rear seat bench, removed the air conditioner pump and putting TWO smaller 6 volt batteries in the trunk, one over each tire. Better traction and double the starting juice for that engine. Even then you only got 3 tries to start the motor with those two 8 foot long battery cables. The battery was put in the trunk to make room for the air intake hoses under the front bumper. We used a stock Muncie close ratio trans. Stock rear end. Hurst shifters of course. I would estimate our 455 with the TriBarrel (3 duece rochester pieces of crap) was hitting 425 hp, more or less after we changed to lighter weight higher compression pistons. I used the same stock factory cam shaft. The Olds 455 was a low revving torque monster, and did not have a high red Line . You won the race in the first half of the track. Revving anything over 6,000 rpm and parts would literally fly off the engine. This was IN FACT because the cam shaft was only held in place by timing chain tension and wobbled front a rear routinely. The factory fix was to put a piece of FELT in front of it up against the timing cover. We simply made a solid bearing with a collered bushing on the front journal that did not depend on chain tension to hold it in place and tossed the little piece of felt out. Hey have to save weight somewhere eh? ;-)
