It's sad when someone rejects Christ, for whatever reason they use. To accept, love & trust Christ with your life requires your mind and also your will as well. I don't know a lot but the reality of God is more real than sunshine or oxygen itself. You have to have faith in God and realize that you are serving a true person. Not a concept or mythology. It takes a lot to trust I mean really trust like that.

So if you're talking about the census luke claims under Augustus pre-taxes, you were right, a census taken in 7 BC (its also mentioned in Acts). But archaelogy and biblical historians have now seen such periodical registrations took place every 14 years (check out Ramsay). Rationale for the BC one I think is justified by Augustus and Herod tensions (see josephus) and thus he wants to treat Herods domain as a subject land of sorts and thus the census, especially as a sign of allegiance

Second one is more interesting, and I guess as always I hope you can always research bout it. My take on it focuses on the authors background. John in general uses the Roman time (midnight to midnight), due to his appeal to wide audience, and attempts to leave out as much tradition and philosophy to appeal to his universal audience, with Mark using then traditional Jewish time, though to a roman audience. This view I think works cos throughout Johns gospel all the references to time I can find
