The “slain in the spirit” nonsense. This is not something we are told to do in scripture. Holy laughter is not is scripture either. Benny Hinn is a false teacher. He says a lot of good things but his life is filled with greed. Jesus said by their fruits ye shall know them. I know he’s departed from the faith because of greed just like Judas or Balaam. His lavish lifestyle and covetousness disqualified him from the ministry.

@@whatistruth2810 Thanks for getting back. Let's take the easiest part out of it first. Only God knows who is truly serving Him. None of us can be the judge of any other, including Benny Hinn. He should be matured enough in the knowledge of God to know how God deals with fake people. i hope that takes of bothering with personalities. Then, we can talk of concepts. Especially, as it regards The Holy Ghost in this case. To be honest, I don't know what being slain in the spirit means. I think it is a derogatory language from people who are suspicious r do not know what they are talking about. However, you cannot know much about The Holy Ghost if you do not believe in Pentecostalism. That is where the true power of The Holy Ghost is allowed to express itself. To the best of my knowledge, no where in the Bible are the boundaries of its manifestations defined. I will like that reference if you will. Finally, do you care to wager an explanation for what happened to that audience? Why respond in those ways? Thanks.

@@noahomoluabi Hey, thanks for being open for dialog on this issue. I disagree that only God knows who is truly serving him. Jesus told us that we would know false teachers by their "fruit" or actions. Paul spoke of false teachers and comparing them with Jannes and Jambres who opposed Moses he says: "but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was." 2 Timothy 3:9. Paul is saying here that these types of false teachers will be obvious to spot just as Jannes and Jambres were because their works will give them away as frauds. For Benny Hinn, he is even known in the secular world for living a lavish lifestyle on ministry funds. He has been investigated by the IRS for fraud and to his credit has even admitted to taking prosperity teaching too far, but he has stopped short of full repentance. I would be considered a "pentecostal" by most because I believe in the gifts of the Spirit. I do think, however, that the pentecostal churches lack discernment and allow things that should not be done. We should not allow experiences of the "spirit" which are not stated in scripture. We must remember that not every spirit is of God and therefore we must test the spirits. The gifts of the spirit are clearly defined in 1 corinthians among other places and Paul outlines how they should be practiced in the church. For example, the speaking of tongues is forbidden if there is no one there who can interpret what is being said. This is almost never followed in churches today. In summary, I would point us to listen to 1 John 3:7-8 "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil...". If we see someone who's life does not align with the teaching of scripture even if they say the right things we shouldn't accept them as ministers. Benny Hinn's covetousness disqualifies him. Also, we must remember that there were false apostles in Pauls day. Satans minsters clothe themselves as angles of light. Jesus warned us that false teachers would even be able to "show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Just because someone has spiritual power does not mean it is from God. We must test everything by the word of God and then we will never be lead astray.

@@whatistruth2810 Hi, once again and thanks for your detailed explanation. And I agree in principle with most of it. Luckily, you admitted that there is a spiritual realm. This is a challenge for many. Irrespective of whether Benny Hinn is fake or genuine, the point is that a rather supernatural influence exists. In fact, I tell people that it is folly to suggests that psychics are just hypnotics. There is a communication with the supernatural in their trade. With regards to Benny Hinn and the choice whom people should follow, and I agree that taking counsel, finding knowledge and wisdom are well advised in the scriptures. For his person, whatever he has bowed to, he did it not as a baby but by adult choice. He should know. Should people follow him, the reservations pointed out here is enough grounds for people to do their research. When, Paul counsels that we should pray for people to interpret our tongues, the language of the supernatural, he did not outrightly ban the speaking of tongues where there is no interpreter. In fact, prophesying to the church in a language that they do not understand makes no sense. However, personal communication with the Holy Ghost, even within the assembly is expected. In fact, it is the first outward evidence for their believers to recognize a born-again child of God. Up till that time, they are left to assume that what you say is what is really happening.

So sad that people like lynsey would be so blind. I've seen it healed, just not every time (it should be every time!). You look at the muscle and skeletal structure and can tell exactly what that child was dealing with. Lynsey, I hope you come to Jesus, I really do. Apart from that, you've got nothing, otherwise.
