Hi - can you make another positive affirmation hockey video, similar to your last one, however with additional affirmations. Recommend blending with the background music of Tibetan meditation bowls. Commercials only at beginning. I think it would be a big success as many would play regularly. Thanks and good luck!

@@identityshifthockey Just a question about strengths and bottlenecks If my skating is my bottleneck, but it's something I improve the fastest on and want to get good at, is it ok if I prioritize it to get good at it even if it's one of my weaker skills? I think I have potential in skating. My natural playstyle suits playing along the boards and making plays which skating is an important skill to be good at. I need to be able to turn on a dime, be strong on my edges, explode out of a corner, etc.

Weird observation. This is absolutely not causation. A facial expression is a biological consequence that differs in every human. Some people can generate extraordinary amounts of power with a blank face. Look at Muay Thai fighters. It’s like saying look at the veins in his arms, that’s a sign his tightening super hard. (Ps, not true)
@identityshifthockey
@identityshifthockey 4 ай бұрын
Sure it’s not likely directly causal. But I don’t agree with the comparison of his arm veins. I am making a hypothesis that he is generating a ton of power on the shot and there is something unique about the fact that he even tenses his face, worth considering there is something to this. You are free to disagreed but I will continue to point out these hypothesis for people to explore for themselves

Unrelated to this video but I don’t exactly fit into a player archetype as I am not a goal scorer since I’m in a slump so I can’t be a shooter/sniper, passing and deking aren’t my strengths so I’m not a playmaker, I’m definitely not a power forward, not a two-way forward, and I do not have any traits of a grinder. Last season I did try to make plays so I might’ve been a playmaker, but I just don’t have their traits. My greatest asset is my shot, but I’m rarely able to get a proper shot in a game because I either take too long to load up, or I just mishandle a pass. I have decent speed as well. Anyway am I screwed? I heard from your "Stop trying to be McDavid" video to not try to be a player your not. What do I do now?
@thejfk_experience490
@thejfk_experience490 6 ай бұрын
I'm gonna give you a hard truth here. There is no easy fix for this. There is no little missing piece that will help you with this. NO PLAYER WAS BORN WITH THEIR ATTRIBUTES, THEY DEVELOPED THEIR STYLE THROUGH PRACTICE AND HADD WORK. What you need to do is work a lot and practice a lot on developing your physical skills, stop worrying about the mental side of the game if you struggle with shooting and passing. You took the "stop trying to be like mcdavid" too far, it sounds like you just stopped trying. This all aside, I got a lot of advice for you, I was in this exact situation 2 years ago, and you can improve a ton if you put in the work. 3 important things: Stickhandle frequently at home, shoot frequently at home. Do hockey camps, focus on skating a lot. Watch lots of hockey training videos. You NEED to become very good at those things and AFTER, you will find your identity as a player. As you practice, you'll find out what naturally plays into your game the most. For me, my edge work and stickhandling became my 2 most important skills, I implemented them in games and they came naturally to me. Some other kids I see are really good at shooting or speed, but everyone had to practice a lot first. Find which parts of your game are your strongest. Master those. But one thing I cannot stress enough is WORK ON THE OTHER STUFF when you can. My stickhandling only became useful after I could shoot after creating chances. One kid has the best shot on the team but scores for shit because he has no hands. Basically, you don't have the attributes. But you can develop them. You have to practice and you have to believe that you can develop them. You can do it. It's not far out of reach for you.

I am a high school hockey player and I’ve been playing ever since I could walk and every year I’ve been put on the B team over the A team every year I would come so close to having a spot on the A team but I would always fall just short most commonly because my dad would be put as the B team coach and the other 4 coaches would be set as the A team coaches so really no matter what I would be screwed and I was hoping once I got into high school that it would change and unfortunately for my first two years it was the same sort of situation where I would fall just short of making my varsity team and be put on JV both my freshman and sophomore year I played mostly JV I would occasionally travel with the varsity team but very rarely get playing time despite finishing as the top JV point scorer my freshman year and finishing second in scoring my sophomore year finally this year (my Jr year) I’m finally getting my chance and playing respectable time on the varsity team as well as volunteering to be a leader to the JV players I’ve finally grown to make a name for myself after a consistent battle of being put down by coaches, teammates, and in some instances parents of my teammates it was a long road and I’m finally proving to my old coaches and old/current teammates what I can do and ever since the start of this hockey season everything has gotten so much better for me

In terms of shifting my identity, what if my skating is a weakness yet I want to be known to be a good skater? Do I work on it until it doesn't hold me back anymore but not be my best aspect? Or can I prioritize it, even if it's going to take a bit longer to have it as my strengths? My greatest strength is my shot, I could use that to separate but I feel like there are too many good shooters.
@identityshifthockey
@identityshifthockey 11 ай бұрын
If you goal is to make it a strength, then work until it’s a strength which is usually a multi year process. If you want it to simply not be a bottleneck, then that’s more about making it good enough to not hold you back. If your already a great shooter I would consider taking that to an elite level. These are more things we would want to talk about live to go deeper into this
@0After30
@0After30 11 ай бұрын
@@identityshifthockey Which do you think is better? Making it into a strength but taking longer or making it not a bottleneck? In my opinion, skating has more value than other skills, so it may be worth being a good skater but an average stickhandler than a good stickhandler but an average skater. What do you think?
@identityshifthockey
@identityshifthockey 10 ай бұрын
@@0After30 talked about this in detail in my next video on becoming multi-dimentianally jacked. You wanna elivate weak points to no longer being weak points and simultaneously attack your strengths. Double down on strength and level up your weak points until they no longer hold you back. Yes some skills have higher ROI like skating, but this is why every player is an individual
