Okay.. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but I also think that your middle part is thinning as well. I’ve watched your content for some time now and noticed that you wear a middle part often and I think that area is beginning to thin as well.

As someone who has done both, I will say my hair grows like weeds on its own when it's natural vs. When I was relaxed( I used to go to a Dominican shop). My hair wouldn't grow past shoulder length. Also, my hair is much thicker now than it was then. Transitioning is rough but as the relaxer grows out trim it off little by little until its completely gone. I wore my hair in protective styles so no one knew what state my real hair was in. I just took care of it in between take downs. Took about 2 years to let it grow in fully.

People can be very rude! Could you possibly try relaxing your edges last? It’s been a while since I was relaxed but that was my stylist’s approach at that time. She mentioned that edge hair can be finer, more fragile and usually process pretty quickly for many people. Maybe that would help, idk? Enjoy all your content btw!!

Needed this! Lost a patch of hair on the right side of my edges due to back to back braids.

Good morning, sometimes we don’t see what everyone else sees & that’s ok, but I was shocked when you mentioned a corrective relaxer because I had never heard of it. I’ve had relaxer twice before that didn’t take, but I just made it work until it was time to do it again. We live & learn. I’m glad everything is working out for your hair now. I’m the same way about my hair. I love my hair! 😊 have a great week. 👋

My second and third pregnancy really thinned my edges. They came back but were never the same. I’m going to give this a try.

Sometimes unless it’s really bad you don’t notice it. It’s a gradual change. I was low key shocked when I saw my bad side too, crying to my boyfriend and all. And I saw the comments too 😅 people are so rude in the comment section.

Young lady once again... you're not heeding sound advice. Relaxed hair needs to breathe. Braids are a barrier from the hair receiving oxygen and causes tension irregardless of how loose you may believe your braids. are on youredges. Ps- I hope that was nice enough for you to receive. Sincerely a KZfaq Auntie

Yes, braids will definitely give sectional breakage and thinning, especially on relaxed hair. It's just that the more hair you have the less noticeable it is. Niara is so careful with her hair so the damage was minimal.

Your hair staying straight has more to do with the health of your hair. If it’s not staying straight your hair might be dehydrated or damaged

I will never tell another blk woman what to do with her hair. I will say that I feel like hair equipment(flat irons and blow dryers) r way more efficient than what was used back in the day. Growing up, my mom got my hair done every other week. I would get a relaxer/touch-up and a flat iron with the hot iron and hot oven. I have noticed with the equipment I have now, still gives that same relaxed look, without damaging my beautiful long curls. My hair is also pretty healthy. I just want women to possibly try other options, before putting such a harsh chemical in their hair 💕💕

Hey! I’m a super oily girl too like by the end of the day my face is a greaseball and I had the same results with this setting spray no matter what different setting techniques I tried. I then realized these products are not meant to reduce the oils but like it says on the bottle stop sweat and be waterproof which is very different from being oily. I feel like people including me mistake “sweat proof” products as like an against oil products. Hopefully more products will come out that are specifically geared towards us oily girls !

I so agree about the Russian manicure taking too much cuticle skin off. We actually need that skin to keep bacteria out. Oiling and pushing back your cuticles a few times a week is safer and better for long term maintenance.
