Yes this is the fastest lap around the track to date. No one has been able to best it since it was set in 2012.

Laguna Seca reminds me of Phillip Island in parts, we don`t have a steep corkscrew like L.S but the back section of the Island is pretty daunting for w/end riders like myself, I have an `09 1098R and it`s an ex - SBK bike with a very snappy tune, it even gave my "A-grade" racer-mechanic a bit of a scare when he test-rode it told me later he`d almost looped it in second gear.. 😅

Every other car on the track weighs 1000 lbs + more than the Z. The secret of the 240Z is good engineering and light weight. I will never sell mine. Others have and always regret it.

I was there on this day. Just the sound of alone of this particular V10 is beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Listening to it on anything other than being there in person, Doesn’t even come close to its dynamic sound range. I can’t imagine a full grid of these. Then there is the speed in which it does everything… difficult to comprehend. This thing is remarkable. Hats off to its engineers, drivers Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Marc Gene.

Yesterday, Lundgaard beat the 2022 IndyCar pole by 5 SECONDS and beat the 2000 CART lap record and got within .65 sec of Marc Gene's 2003 Ferrari F1 record lap time! All done in a heavy 2023 IndyCar and on a resurfaced Laguna Seca circuit. AMAZING!

I've watched this so many times...It's hard to believe the ability of Gene's reflexes, anticipation, judgment at this pace. It's like fast-motion. All F-1 drivers just seem to operate at a level above.

I love Z-cars. I loved mine, and loved the '70 that dad raced in the '70s (which is still racing up in the PacNW). I can't quite figure out what the car in the video is. The c-pillars aren't from a 1970 model. Did the originals rust out, or was the car crashed hard, or is this just a franken-car in the body as well as the mechanicals? The supposedly 'built' engine still has the rough, as-cast finish in the ports in the head?

He actually has the engine tuned almost all the way up!! Attaboy! I hate some videos and they dont turn the engine up.

I'm glad these cars are still out on the track. They don't belong in a museum or garage. Ferrari s are born racers and this car is one of them 😊
