You're right, "Folks can acquire an accent, but not have to get rid of their native one". I took 3 levels of Spanish in High school. It's easy, if I acquire to speak Latin- American accent publicly, but standard in private. I get a little tired of certain Southerners asking, "Where are you from?". A Latin American accent feels better, for me to use, soo I won't sound soo Country, or halfway ignorant".

I believe data is pronounced day-ta. Some people pronounce it as though it has 2s. This would be datt-a. I think it's more correct to pronounce it Day-ta.
