Hello CarFan Your video is perfectly clear, thank you for the explanations. The wiring harness in my car has the reference DX23-13A444-BA, do you think that the reference C2Z19978 replaces it? I'd like to take advantage of your expertise to ask you for 2 simple pieces of advice. How to check if the camera is working before changing the harness and how to dismantle it too. I have a faulty plate bulb, how can I change it too? Thank you in advance for all your answers.
@carfanfan16 сағат бұрын
@Warguy-uw6pi unfortunately I don't know what that reference number means. I just know the part number which I used. The only way to know the camera isn't working is when the screen goes blank instead if giving you an image. The you know it's the cable. The camera rarely breaks. The license plate light bulb can be changed from outside the car. Just use a small flat head screw driver, insert it in the little slot on the lense and unclip it to reveal the bulb.

What are your ideas for a new set of rims. Are you going to keep the car authentic with the 15 inch or are you going to modernize it a little bit with perhaps some 17 inch? Late 90s early 2000s had some amazing Audi rim designs. Of course you can go for some B5 S4 rims, or I think it would look really good with the 17 inch sport package rims that came on the B6 Audi A4, 2002 through 2005.👌
@carfanfan7 күн бұрын
I made the mistake with my 1999 Audi B5 by dumping the 15" wheels for 17" BBS wheels. Looked great, but suffered from potholes and hard ride. I'm going to keep the wheels stock. It has a nice soft ride and those high profile tires will help shield the wheels from getting buckled on potholes 😄
@nicholasbabeaux205211 күн бұрын
Hey Hilton, I’ve been following you since you had your XF, the first generation, I had one at the time. So my first car was a 1996 Audi A4 2.8. I got it in 1999 when I turned 16, I worked my butt off for it and I think I got it for 9k. I always loved the key had the little light on it, and then also it had pneumatic locking kind of like the W-140 S class. I never got sick of that sound when you locked the car and you can hear the vacuum sucking down the locks lol
@carfanfan11 күн бұрын
Hey Nicholas, the 2.8 was s nice machine. Especially in A4 form. Smaller car, lighter and very nimble. It was a toss up between getting an A6 of that time, an A4 again or a 2001 A6 4.2 V8. I chose the more challenging one unfortunately. Not knowing Audi don't support them anymore. When I had my A4 until 2018 parts were readily available but this one I bought is now very scarce. You just don't see them on the roads anymore. Thanks for following my channel all these years. 🤗
@nicholasbabeaux205211 күн бұрын
@@carfanfan well, it’s definitely in excellent condition and very unique. They just didn’t sell that many Audi in that era as far as parts go especially the A6. That Audi generation was only around for a few years, they were just coming out of the unintended acceleration fiasco. The 2.8 L was a really good engine, it was quite underpowered, but I had the five-speed manual. It was more reliable than the 2.8 5v 200 hp V6 that came out in 1997. The only issue I had was the catalytic converter failed and then control arms, but this suspension on the A4 was different. I look forward to seeing what you do with it,

Hello, where do you connect the boxes to have power in them?
@carfanfan13 күн бұрын
I rigged a main line into the center console lights. If you watch my video on the door sill lights, I show how I did this. You can also rig a main line up to your dome lights by identifying which wire supplies light to the switches. But you can use that premise for any buttons in the console getting light when you turn the headlights on.
@EragonThenics13 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot ! I have no lights in the center console, but if I understand the tips well, I just have to wire up to a light from the car (like the roof lights)
@carfanfan12 күн бұрын
@EragonThenics nope, find a button in the car that lights up when you turn your headlights on. The buttons 9n the dome light usually light up when you turn your lights on, so they are a good source to use. Don't use the actual dome light, that wouldn't work. Any buttons on the dash that light up can be used to tap a wire into.
@EragonThenics12 күн бұрын
@@carfanfan ohhhhhh okey, I understood !
@carfanfan12 күн бұрын
Connect the main box to your main wire inside the car. That's for your dash lights and footwell lights. The door lights need to be connected to a source inside the doors. Each door box communicates with the main box via wifi. So if your window switches light up or door lock buttons, you can find which wire is the one for the switch light and splice into that.

my trunk is not working with remote ,,,,why
@carfanfan5 күн бұрын
One of the wires in your trunk loom is probably broken. This happens as they age from opening and closing over time. Instead of replacing the loom, which I would rather do, is removing the loom and prying the rubber cover back to race where the wire broke. It won't be long before you spot the culprit. But repairing it will just lead to the other wires snapping over time and eventually license plate lights and rear camera will also stop working. It's best to replace the loom.

(Gen 2) MAKE SURE the upper bracket is pulled as far forward as it can go before you torque it down. If you don't, the hood bracket bolt will grind against the strut and push it off the ball, causing it to decompress in your engine bay and hit something. Everyone says these are easy but they really should come with instructions to avoid returns and damaged cars!
