I've been following the Charlatans since their debut, just got into broadcast and was already sick of the grunge when this one hit. The late Jon Brooks hit it out of the park with his drums and Rob Collins hammered that Hammond B3 like it was free. I recently retired from broadcast and signed off with Only One I know. I can't think of one "bad" Charlatans tune despite the untimely loss of Collins and Brooks. Every time I play this album I'm back to my 20's with all my hair!

I was in Aldi in Wolverhampton and I asked the shop assistant if there was any other muesli apart from Alpen cause it's expensive. The guy mumbled 'Thats the only one I know' - it was only Tim bloody Burgess. He said the irony of that being their only song anyone knew was no longer lost on him.

YAH IS “THE NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME” (Philippians 2:9). “Then He said to them, ‘Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem’” (Luke 24:46-47 NKJV). Halleluyah, Praise YAH! “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The Savior told the people that He is YAH, “The I AM,” as in “HaYAH.” YAH, the I AM, is “the name which is above every name.” In other words, He told them that He was, and is, and is to be their God forever to the glory of His God and Father. He the Messiah said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). I AM is YAH. Christ told them that He is their God! There is only one name by which we must be saved to receive eternal life, behold the name given by God the Father to the Son of God our Savior has the only name of YAHSHUA! The name Jesus has only existed since the 17th century, and more importantly, the name Jesus was never revealed by God. YAH=I AM, and shua= “my help,” as in “my salvation.” Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! The essence of the Gospel is this: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. ‘He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God’” (John 3:16-18). You must believe in the name of YAHSHUA in order to be saved! If you reject this name you stand condemned! “...that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord” (Deuteronomy 8:3). God revealed only one name for our salvation! Every word from the Lord is a revelation from the Lord, and He has revealed the only name of salvation: YAHSHUA! “Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “HAYAH ASHAR HAYAH.” [“I AM WHO I AM.” I AM is YAH] And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM {YAH}’ has sent me to you. Moreover God said to Moses, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This {YAH} is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations’” (Exodus 3:13-15). Behold, the name which is above every name: YAH! But doesn’t God have many names? There is only one name. “And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as EL SHADDAI, but by My name Lord {YAH} I was not known to them” (Exodus 6:2-3). God’s essential name, YAH, is found in the names of prophets. 1) Elijah in Hebrew is Eliyah, which means: “YAH is my God.” 2) Isaiah in Hebrew is Yeshayahu, which means: “YAH is my salvation.” 3) Matthew in Hebrew is Matityahu, which means: “Gift of YAH.” 4) Nehemiah in Hebrew is Nechemyah, which means: “YAH comforts.” 5) Jeremiah in Hebrew is Yirmiyah, which means: “YAH will exalt.” 6) Obadiah in Hebrew is Obadyah, which means: “Servant of YAH.” 7) Zechariah in Hebrew is Zkaryah, which means: “YAH remembers.” 8) Zephaniah in Hebrew is Tsephanyah, which means: “YAH has treasured.”

I love this song with every fiber of my being, but it is a bit funny that they were a one-hit wonder and the song title was "The Only One I Know." True banger, though!
