Can you explain why some want to run a sizing/ decapping die when actually running the press from a fired case to a fully reloaded round? Im somewhat new and I always run all my casings through the sizing/decapping die and expander die and then run in the tumbler to clean. After there clean i put away the size die and expander and run the powder drop, lockout, bullet drop, bullet seat and then Lee factory crimp. What am I missing? Do some people not clean there cases or clean them without decapping first? Also if there new cases I always run through a sizer die to before loading.

I use the fake-cheapies, and they do the job. I did check file sizes before using and so far, they are correct. Maybe they won't last as long? When at homebase I use an 'Oregon 511' clone bench mounted, when away fakes work for me.😎
@ReLoadersBench
@ReLoadersBench 7 күн бұрын
Good to know some of the fake ones work. In general, I'm not against purchasing a clone. I am however against being mislead that I'm purchasing the real brand/OEM and paying for that when it's deceptively advertised. When I checked the file sizes of the real against the fake, there were differences, so I clearly got a bad fake. I just did a video on a coffee scale that was a $33 knock off/clone of the $250 version, so I went into that eyes wide open knowing what I was purchasing and at what price. It's the deception and lying or false advertising that irks me.

I was navy school taught, when I was released I took Small Motor Tech lvl 1. Then during the course I found out it included Brazing and MIG. For some reason I aced the theroretical side, and was pulled aside to be talked to by the instructor and Senior instructor. Once I explained i've already had over a years training, TIG, MIG, SMAW, GAS, ETC, they had me run a few beads then sent me home. So I wouldn't eat school resources on basics.

Interesting...as there were a number of folks in my "intro to welding" class that were clearly advanced and already welding practiced. One conversation the instructor had prior to the midterm was with a student was discussing his job (the student) had him welding all day. All students were treated the same (class was overflowing initially, can't say the same 6 weeks later towards the end). I will say even though a short class, the amount of time available to practice on very high end equipment with an endless supply of materials (steel, electrodes, wire types, etc.) was MANY times the value of what the class cost me IMO. Great learning opportunity I would not have done on my own at home with my low end welder.

@@ReLoadersBench I didn't want to eat the resources of having time testing etc, As it was just brazing for a week and a half Finished 2 months of that , I ran the exam pieces before I skipped school. Then a day and a half on the same Lincoln I have, that was no non graded section (basic familiarize). On the way out I ran into one of my instructors, now there is a man that can weld! I keep my hands busy, I redid my rusted out Suzuki Samurai . I was given it from my sisters ex, OMG I didn't know the ex was driving my sis around in a deathtrap. The rear main leaf springs were sheared! Passenger floor pan was a STOP sign taped into place! 3 popcans siliconed in one wheel well, 2 on the other. Completely and utterly unsafe, it was about 3 weeks fabbing and welding. It was redone properly !

@@PlayingWithFireOutdoors - what really planted the seed for me on learning how to weld was a project I had a local welder do for me. The welds were stacked dimes and looked amazing. Metal artwork to me eye. Took me long enough to take action and learn. One of my instructors was in the local welders union for 50 years. Talk about talent. There is no accountability from VEVOR or the stores that represent there product. One hand has no idea what the others doing. That said, I'm out 700 Dollars. And for the life of me I cannot find a replacement bed way for this type of motor config.. I'm still trying. That's my Vevor story.

I have a roll of blue painters tape that is 1/4" wide that is perfect for masking off tight/thin/small areas. All my reloading (and quite a few other larger tools) presses and bigger components have custom made covers. I pick up the heavy canvas (10 ounce+) aka duckbill at a local fabric store (mix/match colors or what's on sale) and then take the material to a local tailor with my "design" and about a week later I have a very durable and long lasting cover for less than what a cheesy plastic non-custom fitting generic version would cost.

LED issues on #1, digital keypad issues on #2 and no issues on #3 (and this video is 3+ years old). They never prevented me from access, the benefit or exact point of a digital/analog combo lock (technically it worked EXACTLY AS DESIGNED - when the digital keypad was problematic, the analog/mechanical functioned perfectly - just try and open your safe with a mechanical lock when you're in a hurry...easier said than done unless you play games like always leaving it near the last number for a slight turn). As you learned, no guarantee on ANY safe lock (do a Internet search on failed MECHANCIAL locks) since your digital failed. And now they are $600, nice. Got and continue to get my values worth.

And yes that was with kids and then grandkid there. Heck I didn't even own a safe until kids were all gone. The odds of a quality mechanical lock failing suddenly are almost infinitesimal compared to the regularity of e-locks doing so. And most that do are decades old and simply worn out. Which give warning signs prior. Unlike my digital that gave up the ghost with no warning at all. It seems you are trying to stay on Securerams good side so they will continue to send you free replacements when it fails again.

Just north of MSRP/retail, so it wasn't too painful. They laughingly (I was literally laughing at prices I first saw for PPT's) started at $5k when first available "locally" and the hype was off the charts. I waited a year for the dust to settle and the price premium to collapse (nice pew pew, but even at MSRP it's priced too high IMO). I just uploaded my DWX Compact trigger job video. Rolled up a piece of 100 grit sandpaper to to smooth the hole. Works great. Just take the plug out to top up the powder w/o disturbing the setup. I also bought some larger 625cc (21oz) clear bottles (w/caps) with 53/400 thread size (same thread/cap size as a std container #1 of powder comes in & the Lee powder bottle adapter) from US Plastics. No need to empty out the powder when finished reloading, just screw the cap on & put it on the shelf 'til next time. Cost w/shipping & tax for 12ea Bottles, screw-on caps & plugs was $33.84 ($2.82 per bottle/cap). Get a buddy or two and split the costs.
