is there a way to remove the headers once hammered in?
@Tinkerneering13 күн бұрын
The pin holes on Raspberry Pi boards are really well manufactured, so you should have no trouble turning the board upside down and applying pressure in the opposite direction. You’ll want to make sure the chips are not squished though. 😃

You should remove the blue plastic film thats covering your power supply under the right lid. It prevents the heat from disolving in to the air. It should be clean metal color on it.

I was pricing up galvansied steel versions of this kind of DIY camera rig and watched may videos but your PVC design is much more attractive for small spaces - and I have that same desk! Have you used this with a DSLR camera? Does the structure suffer from not being glued?
@Tinkerneering Жыл бұрын
I have a bridge camera, which is the one you see on the static shots. I did find that after time, the horizontal bars at the top would sag if too much weight was left on them. Swapping them for wooden poles (dowels or curtain rods) or metal versions would be a good solution. I did follow my idea of extending the length of the vertical pieces to get a greater height off the counter. Much more flexibility that way.
@Lyvvie Жыл бұрын
@@Tinkerneering Thank you for replying! Of all the PVC DIY's we watched, we agreed your design is best. We are going to need stronger support in the office-studio and are going with the galvanised steel. I will recreate your rig design for iPhone recording, and will attempt to make a portable version for plein air painting that I can carry with me; something to setup on a picnic table. Thanks for the inspiration!

What the f did you do?? I don't understand this video.
@phuzzo1 Жыл бұрын
He made a multi pen into a multi pencil. It makes sense for people who do pencil art, and don't want to carry a big roll of different colored pencils. If the leads can be refilled or switched at will it's quite a nifty trick.
@phuzzo19 ай бұрын
It makes sense only if you can change the lead color. This way you can carry up to 4 pencils in one pen. It will cost you 4 of these pens to make it. But as a side effect you get 3 multipens, although each one will have a double of one color. One could argue carrying 4 pencils would be easier and cheaper. But they would not be a single multipencil.

Hi ,i wish i seen your video as i arsed mine up.I ended up bending the pins and broke the thin perspex where the long rectangle is.It was a nightmare to sort the pins but once sorted ,i used the female gpio header on to the male header and repeated the process. This rescued an almost disastrous situation. The use of a adjustable clamp is a excellent idea which i will use in future unless i am lucky to purchase RPI with gpio headers soldered on. Thank you for sharing the video and the excellent tip (use of clamp)

¿Would it be possible to show days/hectodays/kilodays/megadays instead of days/months/years? I think it’d be neat if the decimal clock featured also a decimalised time path. For example, right now when i’m commenting this is 2022/06/04 01:27 but, following the human era/common era in kilodays, today’d be 4,738,310 d at 0.60 dd

What's wrong with the supplied usb chief?
@Tinkerneering2 жыл бұрын
Just being overly cautious. There are at least 4 chips hidden inside an Apple Lightning cable. Who knows what might be hidden inside the USB cable supplied in the bag. If I’m not going to plug the dongle into my PC, I should be consistent and not plug their USB cable in either.

First thing to say is safety! Never allow moisture/liquid anywhere near your melt pot, the result is explosive. Because your tardis is a solid block you will have quite a bit of shrinkage and sinks, to avoid this simply push a square of silicone into the centre of the mould so your casting will finish hollow and the best bit is you will only use a fraction of that expensive pewter! @Tinkerneering3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I’ve seen some 100mm pots are quoted as going as high as 550c by some vendors. That should certainly be enough to melt Zinc. I’m not sure how it will react to the steel used in the pot though.

hey, is this scrap pewter you used definitely 100% lead free? I want to use some to make jewellery but not sure if 'lead free' means 100% lead free... thanks!
@Tinkerneering3 жыл бұрын
The Pewter Grains I bought were sold as Lead Free. Reading up, this may contain some naturally occurring lead (up to 0.05%}. I think you need to look for specific pewter if you’re making items to be worn against the skin. I’ve not looked into this myself though.

I used this kit on other PCBs, but with the female connectors instead of the perspex bar applying the pressure from the top, and the whole lot squeezed in a small vice to apply pressure slowly and evenly. (Obviously no bolts in my case and remove the female connectors once done.) Not tested it yet but it seems to have worked a treat. Thanks for the creative 'spark'. I would have hated to have soldered or hammered this lot.
@Tinkerneering3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. You’re right, the female part of the kit is great on the extension boards. I used them on my Patreon display with a Pimoroni Ultra White LED display.
@rogergoldfinchelectrical41593 жыл бұрын
PS On about my 6th one, I found the female connectors pulled the male connectors out when I tried to remove them. However, if the vice jaws are smooth, you can do away with the female connector strip / perspex top bar altogether: just use the slotted perspex piece underneath.
