decent opinion but my god is the pacing in this video horrible most of the video was lacking in energy and it felt like you took the first recording of the script in some parts?? also this video could have been half the run time

eh id make it so that my super break character is meant to be a ??? nihility that makes it so that an effect is placed on an enemy that makes it so that a percentage of dmg is taken away and stored and for however many hits the party has done to it it will spread it out for(so lets say 15 attacks were done to the enemy and the character triggers the nuke the recorded dmg would be spread across those hits evenly rounded down) (essentially a character that is a super break that is good for either follow up attack teams, dot attack teams or super break thats a nuke) with the downside of basically siphoning some of dmg for the nuke in the first place

Good thing I did not waste my jades and resources with SW. My E0S0 JL carried me through everything despite what weakness the enemy has. Now with Acheron and Firefly, SW reruns will always be the easiest skip as she will definitely be useless.

Silverwolf can still work pretty well in other teams, but yeah, Acheron and Firefly have become FAR more universal than she is. I feel like they shoudl be making a Boss or content that is designed to counter the playstyle of Super Break/Hyper Speed teams in order to make other teams shine. Like the DoT elite/boss which can can be annoying if you aren't careful with health/Eff RES

my WB team starting tomorrow will be e1 FF with heta shop LC, e4 (for now) Harmony Trailblazer with s1 Ruan Mei LC, Hunt March with s3 Swordplay (sadly the best LC i have for her at the moment) and e6 Gallagher with s5 Multiplication. I am not using Ruan Mei on the team for 3 reasons: 1. She is needed on my DoT team, 2. Firefly would probably not get along with her if she found out about her swarm experiments and 3. for added challenge, i know it is not optimal but i don't care

Oooh that sounds pretty good in all honesty. Also having S1 Ruan Mei LC is insanely good, nice! Hunt March 7th is a fun addition for the team, and I love the idea of an aggressive team that is meant to delete the enemy before they strike. Ruan Mei is a wonderful addition for any team, and I like the fact we now have more supportive units for WB teams in March 7th. Ruan Mei is just breaking the Geneva convention on the daily at this point, especially with the new information that has been dropped in the new quest. So I begin to panic

8:20 does anyone remember pre nerf Firefly? How in the first version of her kit that got leaked she had the highest ATK in the game together aith Dr. Ratio and how busted her multipliers were. Then they cut all of them in half making the enhanced skill DMG scale on 200% of her ATK instead of 400% and so on. And also nerfed her base ATK to be the loowest out of all the 5 stars in the game together with Sparkle. You could actually have built her with CRIT and still be amazing but I guess it was too busted. At least they buffed her speed a bit

"stats arent everything" yea u could have a unit with 2k base atk but if their scalings are x0,25 of those of a normal unit then its meaningless, u cant define a unit by their stats "stats are nothing alone" thanks actually firefly needs more thinking at e2 bc u gotta leave someone unbroken or at range of kill to activate it, which doesnt always happen for free and doesnt mean its not completely op superbreak only scales on toughness reduction of the attack, break effect and the % of superbreak the unit has, thus the amount of hit has nothing to do, the hits will have their own toughness reduction if they do and wont if they dont, its unrelated a different thing is that units like sampo asta etc have a high toughness reduction on their skills yea firefly has that base atk bc she is balanced around it, its not a coincidence as for units related to break that they can release: -they can make a support that boosts break efficiency more than ruan does but single target, or a supp that gives super break more than htb does but single target instead of teamwide, or a mix. -they can make a unit that has their own superbreak and unlike firefly its enough superbreak to make it their dmg without needing htb. -they can add a debuffer that makes enemies receive more toughness reduction from attacks. -they can make a break dps that triggers their break dmg under certain conditions without needing the enemy being weakness broken (ruan passive triggers her break dmg when enemies get weakness broken, boothill when he hits weakness broken enemies, well there could be a break dps that triggers it before, with the use of an enhanced skill or anything similar) -they can make a dot unit that scales on break somehow, they'd do dmg even if the enemy is not weakness broken, paired with kafka/black swan or other dot units, but once weakness broken their dmg would improve if supported with superbreak and break efficiency -they can make a support that enables a second break bar on the broken enemies while keeping the broken state, aplying break dmg and delaying again (thats the buff of the next moc, they could perfectly make it into a future supp, it was kind of the original idea of the old htb as well) -they can make a unit that mixes boothill and xueyi for the real xueyi 5*, a crit dps that can perfectly make use of break and super break etc (someone that wants both break and crit, not just wtv mix of those, like applying more break vulnerability on enemies the more crit they have and attacks having larger scalings the more break they have at the same time) -they can make a supp that gives an ally an state that applies weakness of the allys element to one enemy every attack or that makes them ingore weakneses for a reduced toughness reduction or sth like that

Didnt pull for firefly because i didnt have the jades since I felt pressured to pull Ruan Mei on her rerun. Lord knows when she'd get another but I'll have to try and save for fireflies rerun but i wanna pull for Feixiao. Just gotten up to 3k jades after getting Jade so.. yeah. Gonna need to save for a while 😅

That is fair, Ruan Mei is considered to be so strong, with her speed, damage and weakness breaks buffs she essentially does everything. Best of luck and wish you the best on Firefly's rerun

I have a team consinsting of E2S1 Firefly, E6 Harmony MC (with Ruan Mei's LC at S1), E2 Ruan Mei with S5 Memories of the Past and E6 Gallagher with that Abundance LC that gives Break Effect at S5. 99.9% of the game is really easy. Aventurine's Dice phase still gives me a mild panic attack. That team also is not that good against SAM or any enemy, that can become break immune. That being said, beating SAM with that team is relatively easy, just takes a long time. I can understand where the "too easy" thing is coming from. But the game already has counters for that team. Just wait a few months and we'll have more enemies immune against weakness break or against weakness implant or whatever. That being said, I do think that teams around characters like Acheron (reducing toughness regardless of weaknesses) or Firefly will be able to fit into any Meta for a long time since weakness break is a core mechanic of the game and making every enemy immune to weakness break (just as a hypothetical) would also hinder every other character in the game.

Oooooh that's an awesome team. Aventurine's dice phase will always be panic inducing, especially when he rolls a huge number and it becomes nearly impossible for Ruan Mei to not lose the bet. Speaking of Sam. Personally I like having him KO himself. My go to team is Silverwolf, Aventurine, Clara and Robin/Sparkle. Essentially I liked using SAM's absurdly high speed and make have Clara resolve that. I want to edit that team to be Yunli, Clara, Silverwolf/Boothill, and Aventurine for the future. In all honesty, that would be a cool way to counter super break teams now that I look at it. Make an enemy that punishes the team's over-relliance on speed. Similarly to how the Ebon Deer or the Silvermane Guard does. Then add a healing reduction to it maybe. It would put both Firefly and the Trailblazer in danger as those 2 are always forced to attack. It would be pretty hard to balance though I feel, especially as I am writting this. Yeah, there a good bunch of enemies that counter the strategy. But people also just tend to showcase themselves breaking the game and overhyping things out of proportion. Nobody shows the battles in which they get destroyed. And yes, Firefly and Acheron will be forever meta stables. But they are pretty limitng in which units you can use which can make it dull. It is nice that their teammates don't overlap much, so you can reliable have 2 teams for end game

Yeah it is pretty nice and helps balance things out for him with his own passive of two peas in a pod. Critting on that weakness break that x2 your damage is wild

If I were to make a break character, I would make a 4 Star break support because we lack supports for the play style. I would make them a 4 star physical Harmony named Jake (Can’t think of a fancy name) (I would prefer Fire but Boothill needs love too) with the following kit Note: Numbers in () are level 10 traces Path: Harmony Element: Physical Stats: (Level 80) Health: 1,023 Attack: 493.92 Defense: 441 Speed: 107 Basic Attack: Doom Shot: Deals Physical DMG equal to 25%-55% (50%) of Jake’s Attack to a single enemy Skill: Commander’s Advance: Grants an ally the Cadet Buff to increase their weakness break efficiency by 25% and their break damage by 20%-44% (38%) for 3 turns. Turn counts decreases by 1 on Jake’s turn. Only the latest target of Jake’s skill can have Cadet. Ultimate: (Cost:120) Supreme Airstrike Initiative: Deals Physical DMG equal to 200%-350% (325%) of Jake’s Attack to a single enemy and delay their action by 15%-27% (25%) Talent: Sergeant’s Combat Maneuvers: Increase Jake’s Break Effect by 15%-35% (32%). Ooooooh I reay love that concept. I love the way you created all of his kit. I love the Eidolons and the way that he operates in field control setup, to increase number of turns the enemy is vulnerable in and increasing the main DPS speed so they can wreck enemies. One thing I think could be cool to add. Since he is a supportive unit that is encouraged to be paired with Physical element characters. Having a sort of refined version of Sparkle's trace. Enabling physical characters to do more damage if there is 2 or 3 characters in your team. But yeah, literally from all of this, I adore it so much!

@@mariokungfu2216 I am a huge fan of the flavoring with it being in terms of Soldier and Military. Especially with the way the kit was made it literally gives the character that sort of strategist and person in command and I love it a ton. Especially with the name of Cadet being added now where it feels like Jake's expertise and strategies is what is helping the buffed DPS shine and excel

Well theres only 1 superbreak dps were missing. And thats AOE superbreak dps. So if they gonna create one. It should something like this. Ice erudition Traces 1 - if there are atleast 2 extra ice element unit on the team. Every time the caster atack. It will inflict ice weakness for 1 turn. Talent - when attacking. If the enemy is frozen. They inflict 1 stack of chill, max is 5. If the enemy has reach max stack. Chill will be removed and apply dissociation. If an enemy with dissociation been unfrozen. They will deal 70% of their CURRENT HP(not max hp) if they're non-elite units. Boss and elites will deal 30% of their current hp. Chill debuff will slow enemies by 2% per stack and reduce ice weakness by 2%. If an enemy triggers dissociation on their turn. The caster will boost itself and grants Weakness efficiency by 50%. Onky trigger 1 per 2 turn of the character. Basic - atack one enemy. Skill - grants break effect up to self that can stack up to 3x. And atack all enemies multiple times. If this skill use when max stack. The caster will grant an extra turn to self and grants enhance basic atack. After extra turn ends. The break effect stack will be reset. This skill will be unavailable when in extra turn. Enhance basic atack - atack 10 times to random enemies. Ultimate - it ultimate has a unique charging mechanic. Instead of energy. It will charge based on how many enemies has been break. All break counts even if allies the one who break the enemy. U need to do 5 break. When full. The caster will make a domain for 3 turn. All allies on the field will have their super break damage increase by the amount of break this unit has. And increase caster break effect and speed when the domain active. Traces 2 - for every break effect this unit has. Effect hit rate will increase. Traces 3 - if the caster is still on the field. All allies resistance is increased. Technique - apply chill 3x to all enemies.

This would go absolutely crazy for Herta and Ruan Mei. I especially love the concept of "if you have x amount of [Element] characters. I am surprised we haven't seen it more after Sparkle. Also playing around Frozen enemies like Dissociation was such a cool concept. Adding slow is a great and massive help for it. Though, instead of Dissociation, what do you think about this change? We call the debuff Frost Bite. Which accumulates a % of all Super Break Damage received by the opponent and on turn start they take that damage. It would synergize with the slow system I love how you worked the skill to even give the character an extra turn. Also an Enhanced Basic attack sounds really neat. The concept is super interesting

Implant characters are released to alleviate the issue of elemental coverage until the roster expands enough. In v1, having elemental coverage was important to survival due to the lack of sufficient sustainers, allowing you to interrupt big attacks with break, and required getting lucky to have the correct 4 and 5 star units, so they released Silverwolf. In V2 they released superbreak, which requires elemental coverage for damage, and with no room for Silverwolf on the team they elected to give implant to the dps. Going forward, its unlikely that new superbreak units will have implant, you will be expected to use the dps with the right element similar to how dot and follow up teams require you to switch out one or more units to match the element, or how its been steadily getting harder for certain hypercarries to brute force off element. Enemy encounters will only get more and more niche to make a diverse roster appealing, with standalone powerhouses reserved for when they expect a large influx of new players in order to give them a leg up and not be immediately overwhelmed because they have so few characters.

On one hand it is very much true. But at the same I feel like it is a necessity specifically for Break DPS otherwise they do 0 damage. As you said, while it has gotten harder for teams from the past to brute for the content. They still can clear within the 20 to 10 rounds range in MoC and such. Where they essentially miss out on the last bits of clearing but still can reap some rewards. While on the opposite for Super Breakers it is a much harder task and should have access to ot simply for the fact that they, as DPS character should be able to output high damage in one way shape or form to even out the damage output they have vs conventional DPS characters

I could see them putting implant in the e4 or e6, but if it is in their base kit it would invalidate the whole elemental system and make other archetypes nearly worthless, exacerbating power creep to make non-break units worth pulling. If they all have implant, theres no need to get a break unit of every element, which is why I feel like they will stop at the one single target and one aoe we have.

omggg I'm sorry ;-; I am trying out new SFX for when things pop up. I want to add more variety into it. I accidentally used the safe sfx from pokemon in a few parts in the video when I just use it for the end, so that was my bad. I'll probably add the Kingdom Hearts SFX when you close a window for a future video

I'm a bit radical in thinking that weakness implants should be exclusive to Hunt characters. I think, giving this to Firefly already makes her a much stronger character than Boothill since there are more scenarios that favor her...

I feel like it was over kill on the fact she could ignore the adjacent enemies' shields. If it had been single targetted I think it would have been a bit more balanced, but would nerf her in many other scenarios

Boothill taunt is irrelevant, specially since he can just use hp or def orb/suit since he doesn't care for atk/crit much. It's like he lost some power budget for flavor, even tho it really doesn't matter much. You could cut the skill and make it something else like always implanting weakness in ST and moving his damage/multipliers around and he would feel a lot better. Right now he feels bad to play in dailies/farming/general OW use, the opposite to Acheron

I think what will really break the game is if we get a superbreak erudition character that implants weakness on the entire enemy team. I doubt they will, since that seems unbalanced, but that would be nuts in pure fiction. Kinda hoping they'll do something like that with Screwllum... but I know that's probably not going to happen. Also, imaginary seems like the ideal element for superbreak since that keeps the enemies from recovering for longer, and quantum would be great too, but we don't have either of those that can implant weaknesses yet.

If we do get a super break erudition it will be a huge struggle to balance, but it will also skyrocket Himeko's Gameplay depending on what element gets it too. If they are Ice Erudition would absolutely break Herta Himeko comp and make it the most overpowered in the entire game. I would love that to be Screllum's mechanic and I will hope he is Imaginary so we can combo him with the Trailblazer Yeah both Imaginary and Quantum feel the perfect fit for it, given how both slow enemies' actions massively and give you a huge window of opportunity to try and delete the opponent. We do have the weakness implant in Silver Wolf, and Xueyi for Super break we just need more support in that realm, since you still have to tailor for your healer/shielder element and Trailblazer's Imaginary element needing to be there so Xueyi can have access to Super Break. The problem there is we need the DPS to implant the weakness. So having it separate between both Silverwolf and Xueyi makes it hard

@@MrsSetsuna101 Yeah, that would be the best way to work around with it. Ideally what I'd like is for a Super Break Erudition to have the mechanic of Argenti, having a Tier 1 ult, and Tier 2 ult. WIth Tier 1 doing damage and Tier 2 doing focusing more on adding damage and the weakness implant on the enemy team

I looooove my Boothill, but without using technique for the weakness it's really bad, and even then it's only ST for the first skill you use, needing to ult, again, ST, to deal any damage at all. Sadly, I only use BH in MoC or SU, but never in the overworld or doing daily relic farming, because of how bad he feels in between waves. I wish E1 permagave him a weakness implant

I feel like they should have added a way for him to more consistently debuff the enemy, like if you slay the enemy with the physical weakness implanted, then the weakness get forwarded to another enemy that does not have a physical weakness already. Using him MoC and SU is best, though I'd argue he can work alright for farming relics since he keeps his pocket trickshots between battles, so he will always start with 3 stacks and if you are farming specifically an enemy with Phys weakness

Absolutely, she has a peak potential given how we can have them at Eidolon 6, and their eidolons are pretty powerful all things considered. But once we get the Super Break Support that would be equivalent to Ruan Mei in terms of just being dedicated to this niche, firefly damage will absolutely obliterate all. I am still shocked at how low her own ATK stat scaling is. If she actually had it being here, she'd probably decimate the game. Like, looking at it, we get so little buffs from the ATK% Body and ATK% planar spheres, but we need them

I love that my fav character, the female MC, is meta now and potentially forever because she's an enabler and may age like the finest of wine with more character and like ones we have already: Kafka, Ruan Mei & Topaz. Now a character I'd like to see is a character who has like a 10 stack debuff and each stack increases the toughness reduction by 10-20% and they can make it so if they have the right weakness, then they can reduce them to 1 toughness remaining and that'd enable your breaker deal the most dmg instead of a character who only has half that or smt like that would be fun to play around so there is an incentive to not auto-play and focus on harder content.

The MCs are so freaking funny and great. I am so happy that they are meta viable without needing to SUPER invest in them like it was for Destructio and Preservation MCs. I still used them even though it wasn't the best idea, but it was a struggle at times. The fact she is an enabler like Kafka was for DoT brings me so much happiness. Having a Nihility debuffer that focuses on making more vulnerable to getting hit by toughness reduction sounds sick, mainly for game modes like Sim Universe expantions and Divergent Universe. It would be a long term pay off character, they wouldn't excel in Pure Fiction I think, but the concept is super interesting, I love it. The idea of reducing an enemy's toughness immediately to 1 is so god damn awesome, like putting them on a death's door so to speak, I adore that. This also means they'd synergize incredibly well with boothill to guarantee him getting his pocket trickshots The more incentives for players to not auto play the game, like when doing the end game content the better yessss. I also see so many people autoing the game when facing hard content like MoC and then complain they can't win when they are seeing their characters just toss it for content when the auto mode does dumb decisions, like some did against Aventurine too

@@ManCarSua Exactly like a death's door, like you're tetering on the edge of getting completly fried and they don't even know it. I believe it also allows more dmg to go to superbreak instead of it getting held back by chunking through toughness which is another plus. And in all fairness, I say the less autoable content the better because I was able to 8 cycle clear MoC 12, fully clear Apoc Shadow and Pure Fiction too, so I CRAVE some less autoable content PLZ (I am F2P so it's a fair ask)

I feel like the whole analysis raises an intersting question : Does a team have to be universal ? Starrail meta took quite a drastic turn with Penacony, first with Black Swan solidifying DoT teams with her DEF shred/bybass and DoT amp, making DoT more universal. Then came Acheron who flat out ignores enemy res, and finally Boothill and Firefly who can weakness implant. Prior to these characters, teams were thought arround enemy weaknesses and ignoring them was considered as "brute forcing" (which was only available for heavily invested top DPS characters like Dan Heng IL), or you could "sacrifice" a slot for Silver wolf which has her own specific conditions to work well. Honestly i'm a bit conflicted on this approach, on one hand having universal teams is comfy and greatly eases the access to late game content to newer players with a limited roster. On the other, it completely erases a core mechanic of a game which already has a limited combat system being turn based with 3 abilities on each member of your team of 4.

I just realized how much I typed aaaa. Sorry for the long reply That is a fair question in all honesty. Because I do feel like a team should be, to a certain extent, universal. I wouldn't want to have a team that absolutely destroys everything regardless of enemy weaknesses, resistance and mechanics they have to counter your teams (such as SAM countering healers with their aura, makes it hard, but still do able if you invest the time to tailor your healer to the fight). Like, essentially based on your team, it should feel like an easy game if you arranged your team properly, or it should feel like dark souls if you decided to be stubborn. As a whole I like for example Pure Fiction given how it discourages hunt characters because it is a place for Erudition to shine If anything, I don't want to encourage brute forcing, as the game needs their own sales, but if someone invested a good amount of time in a character, they should be able to hold a bit of a fight, even if futile, rather than plumet to the ground instantly. I do like a ton your analysis on the fact that in Penacony we have gotten a lot of tools that have further enabled us to brute force the game easier in different playstyles. In an ideal world, you need to tailor for the enemies' weaknesses. But I have seen people from beforehand brute force enemies with Jingliu and Kafka before, but they barely scrape by Regardless, you should be punished for not tailoring yourself to the enemies weaknesses/using Silverwolf to help enable a character, but also I do like how comfortable it is to have the ability to use the one team you have in order to at least get the star of 20 rounds in MoC. That would be my threshold of what a team should be able to do if you brute force without much strategy. Though as you mention it is nice for new players to have those tools. I am unsure as to how to feel, I like the mechanic, and I want to see how Hoyo further develops it

I... am not sure. That is actually an interesting. She gets a complete elemental ignore which is wild. On top of reducing defenses that does help super break. Not to mention that whatever you do she triggers Lightning break effect I want to say... Yes? But you'd lose a lot of the good Crit based scaling. That it would probably make it not worth it. She does multi hit a fair amount also so... huh. I am now confused

actually, robin's attack buff doesn't work on firefly's trace only buffs that scale based off of firefly's attack (like asta's) work

Throwing a couple ideas here: I’m of the opinion that by the time the second anniversary comes around, we’ll have a DPS character for each element who can implant their own weaknesses. For example, could you imagine a future erudition character who can AOE implant weaknesses with their skill? Never have to suffer the weakness matchup again in Pure Fiction 😂 Purposely, I would not recommend using Silverwolf for a super break team. At least for right now, we don’t have a character of every element for every role, so building a mono element team are pretty restrictive already. I guess a duo element team would work best in theory.

Having a character for every element or roll would be sick. Especially for Erudition, it would also allow Herta and Himeko to pop off even harder than they currently do in the meta. It is especially busted in Pure Fiction yess I am mainly looking forward to a team that can run Mono Imaginary and Super Break that would be absolutely insane in all honesty. I feel like Lunae might work decently well given he has a multi attack too on his ult and Basic attack 3

I actually think we have a great example about why your assertion is correct; There was a character prior to Super Break who cared about attacking weakness broken enemies, and didn't have a weakness implant like Firefly, Boothill, or Silver Wolf or the "colorless" weakness reduction that other characters like Firefly (she has both how crazy is that), Xueyi, Acheron, or the slight variation that March 8th has. It was Sushang, and I'll forgive anyone who forgot that was how her kit worked, given her meta performance.

That is honestly so freaking true it hurts. I still use Sushang from time to time because she was one of the first DPS characters that carried me through content alongside Clara. If it wasn't for Boothill a lot of this content I'd be Sushang What actually hits so hard is the fact people used to build Break Effect on Sushang in the past. Giving her the Theif Set that gave Break Effect. On top of her being the character that would benefit of enemies being afflicted with Weakness break. You actually have just destroyed my mind aaaaa I still like using Sushang because I use Guinaifen and I wanna have both best friends thrive in my account

@@TheoDimitry For a good amount of time early in the game people actually built her as a Break Effect Character in order to max out the bleed and get that x2 Physical break as strong as possible. So that plus the fact she did bonus damage to weakness broken enemeis feels like a failed attempt to how Super Break currently operates

Wait does she actually IMPLANT a weakness. I thought she was adaptable to whatever ally she assigned as master Regardless that is my bad. I didn't express it properly there. It was meant for me to say that The Implanting is not something they could probably add to a 4 star. But a 4 star Super Break DPS is possible just hard to balance Also it is probably just me. But even though March is a Hunt character, she does seem to look a lot like a supportive unit than a DPS. 9:16 I’m not sure if this is true though, given that Boothill’s talent is not Super Break, and his Max considered toughness is 16x the *base* reduction of his BA, not 16 times the modified toughness reduction. And even then this only matters for enemies that have greater than 160 Max Toughness, since Boothill uses regular Break on his Talent, which scales off of Enemy Max Toughness, unlike Super Break, which uses The Toughness Reduction of the attack instead. (This is why Break does massively different amounts of damage to Bosses/Elites compared to minor enemies, while Super Break is much more consistent). We only have 2 DPS that are fully Break dependent, and BH uses traditional Break calcs while FF uses Super Break. We don’t know what the next Break DPS character will be like. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were more like Boothill/Traditional Break, because we currently only have one source of Super Break, and having more than one character dependent on HTB would mean that one of the Super Break DPS could not be used at all on one of the sides of MOC/PF/AS Ruan Mei’s skill is a 1.5x damage amp for most Super Break units though, unless they already have Weakness Break Efficiency buffs, because it’s additive with itself. Boothill is relatively fine with skipping Ruan Mei, and he’d even rather have Bronya than HTB on his optimal teams

Yeah that was poorly worded on my end. I was trying to refer to the 16x being of the base for of a normal attack. So it would only be up to 160 toughness reduction. From what I understood however, Boothill also does just Regular Break damage on enemies that already have been afflicted by Weakness Break. Still, his kit does synergize well with Super Break given how he scales on Break Effect and does massive Toughness Reduction Damage which also falls in those calculations I do hope next Break Effect characters is more aligned towards how Boothill is and that they can be as fun to play with strategy being something players have to think about And yes the Ruan Mei skill alone being a 1.5x damage increase is just insane. And yeah as you say, Boothill doesn't NEED Ruan Mei as much, but still is a wanted addition to clear enemies more effectively since he first needs to make enemies reach that Weakness Break state

Yea you worded it perfectly how Boothill struggles to implant physical weakness consistently, I love him so much but good lord, putting him against enemies who don’t have physical weakness from the start can be a bit of a struggle but once he does break their weakness bars, he just goes nuts :3 Also getting Ruan Mei on my account on her first banner has spoiled me, my break effect characters and I can’t live without her anymore 😂

Yeah it is a struggle sometimes to get the ball rolling, but once an enemy has been dealt with, Boothill absolutely wrecks them a new one. In the Apocalyptic Shadow, I was literally doing like 2% of Argenti's health until I broke his toughness shield and then Boothill did like 60% in one attack And yeah Ruan Mei literally has spoiled us all that got her omggg aaaa. But she is so broken and amazing

Yes, but also Xueyi and March. I know Xueyi's ult is single target and not that great and March isn't THAT great at break since she isn't a dedicated break unit, but the mechanic is also similar.

That is true, Though I feel like Xueyi is more of an ignore rather than an implant, but their ult is really neat, but just annoying to work with. It does A LOT of Thoughness Reduction so its Super break is amazing, it is just rough you don't get multi hits on it. March's mechanic is actually pretty neat, having it do 100% more toughness reduction does mean you get x2 the amount of damage you would do within your Super Break

I definitely hope to make another deep dive on her character and the new outfit and design they are going with As a whole love the outfit, vibrant reds fit amazing March's Cheerful personality. Even as a Hunt character she keeps her supportive skills and the focus on supporting a specific teammate to make them the highlight of the show Additionally her having both Yanqing and Yunli, two characters that are complete opposites in how they are and their ideologies is bound to make things interesting and fun. Also I like that she has a non 100% chance to launch her follow up attack because as they said on the live stream she is still learning and improving, similarly to Yanqing. As a whole definitely she is high up on my favorite characters

@@ManCarSua agreed and same, also the follow up with the non-100% you mentioned is just the extra hits on the enhanced basic (which automatically triggers when you get enough stacks of charge, but you still get to pick the target), i have seen the leaks but i won't spoil but i think you are really going to like her new kit! i have all her trace mats, relics and a lightcone all ready for her, she may only officially be a 4 star but she is probably the best sub-dps 4 star in the game!

Same! I have prefarmed for her traces and went ahead and had leveled march 7th for some time now to lvl 80 in order to get myself ready to use her in combats. I hope that these new supporting units like her that aren't Harmony/Nihility enable new and interesting teams. I think it would be cool to have buffs similar to Acheron but more fleshed out for the Hunt for example, given how well Ratio, and Topaz work together or Herta, Himeko and Jade in Pure Fiction. The fact Jade and Topaz enable this supporting role and March 7th further expands it gives me hope even cooler game mechanics. Also I love March's versatility for her skill depending on what ally was selected.

i got some cringe talk, my bad, but I really like his importance of self-improvement, it actually feels pretty motivating, i don't actually think i've had any characters that change the way you think. It gives me confidence to put importance on yourself in a way..? Like, f*ck it, I'm gonna walk around with my alabaster head if I don't wanna talk to you. I'm gonna read a freaking book in a bathtub, I don't care if it looks gay as hell to you. This is also extra, but it's also interesting that this type of character would often be leaning towards... like, authority or would side with higher ups, if that makes sense. But even when it came to conversing with someone as high up as Sunday, he does not.. mince his words, and he says the truth. Plus is drive to provide knowledge to everyone as well, and not just those who can afford it, that's awesome.

I actually feel bad for making the video on Dr Ratio so quickly. His character massively evolved and got super fleshed out in the Penacony Trailblaze Mission. He is so amazing and is making me want to make another video on him The self improvement is huge and I love how he will respect any that takes time and effort to better themselves. I also loved how even he gives a lot of attention and care for resting and taking breaks, saying time for fun is vital to let yourself grow and relax when you need it. Not only is he very motivating, but I also love his voice actor posting a "Just Do It" audio as Dr Ratio to motivate people. It really has been helping me out for as cringe as it may sound Yes, I adore the fact that despite of it all he is truthful and blunt about where he stands and what he believes in. He stands by his values and what he sees as the truth, and as such remains always true to himself which I appreciate a lot. Him wanting to help people and educate them to further their knowledge is great. Initially he sounded snobby I am not gonna lie, but the more we learn and see of him he really does wish for people to grow and be able to have the education to drive them to accomplish their goals no matter who they are, and I love him for that

Petty intensely petty and their demands make no sense. Have these Twitter whiners even MET people from South/central America? Even indigenous Americans are... tan..Tam... not black... not even as dark as east Indians. And a huge amount of intermarrying with Spanish and Portugease resulted in a large amount of white or medium/tan people. Mualani is about the same shade as Candace. Clearly Hoyos skin tone scale is lighter than people IRL, but that's across the board and it's a byproduct of the entire anime/Manga style genre largely being high contrast and striking lines. Anime doesn't hardly ever depict different races as that different....essentially the same faces/body shapes, just a bit darker skin... thecmain way anime characters are diversified is by hair color. It's been yhat way for decades. It's not IRL accurate it's symbolic of the genre.

A good amount of people have been. Just as there are extremists on one side there are on the other too. The fact people wanted to ask for players to notify politicians for this and representation was wild to me for example. Especially because, I, living from a 3rd world country in South America, the LAST thing I want is my politicians to be doing some gaming thing that has nothing to do with the countries well being or improvements. Especially with the amount of corruption there is here For Mualani I felt the skin tone was darker on Candace, but I'd need to double check on that. Though thanks for bringing that up to my attention to now go see Yeah, Neuvi's skin is LITERAL white. So in comparisson I do admit that Natlan characters do have a darker shade going in for them, and it is super noticeable when you see how pale fontaine and other nations characters are

But the proposed art changes I've seen online is absurd... fully nubian versions of natlan characters? 🤷‍♂️ I get there are afro-Cubans, all kinds of mixed colors and combinations in places like Brazil. And historical meso Americans are darker than genshin Natlan characters... but I dont think these characters are meant to accurately portray meso-americans at all. Teyvat tells earth's mythologies, but they aren't a faithful depiction of types of people. They're an eclectic fantasy depiction of a tribal nation *inspired* by the mythology of the Americas and Polynesia. We already knew Bennett and Deluc reflected Naltan better in-cannon than Xinyan or Kaya... so this demand Natlan people must be the darkest just doesn't fit with the world thats already established in game. IMHO, the only real objective racial problem is that dark skinned characters tend to not be very good. As a Dehya lover, this is certainly the issue that I have. She should have been better.

At the end of the day, things just go a bit TOO intensely by some in the fandom. Both sides have had their problems And yeah, that has been a bit of problem. The characters look great, but they didn't give them good kits currently. Arlan my boy got gutted from the best DPS to a laughing stock. What they did to his E4 is an absolute joke. Literally made his revive only last 2 turns and then it's gone for good. Like, that just gives you 1 turn to use your E and the 2nd one, when he is at like 30% HP, he already lost the passive ability

they won't , one black people in general aren't popular in china. two they cater for the chinese and asian market which their market's biggest money maker. darker skin tone are viewed ugly there. of course there are stereotypes like xinyan being tanned because of her tomboyish and outgoing personality (she isn't black) three : even if Eu and NA combined and boycott their games, it won't even dent their profit margins. carole peppers is the only canon black character in mihoyo games. the rest are inspired by the culture doesn't mean they should look like where those culture originated from. himeko's japanese but she has red hair. kiana's origin is germanic why does she has white hair? separate fantasy from reality , guess people from the west can't seeing how their men pretend to be women nowadays. this whole thing just solidifies how idiotic the west has become

I can agree with you to a certain extent. I do support the boycott for my own reason. But not entirely in it. Heck some people really are insane and wild and that to me feels bizarre. There have been people in the west that have blown this out of proporsion in the worst way. Regardless of it all, they gotta appeas their local community first and foremost. It is hard for people to find that disconnect from reality at times. I personally like things to be closer to it, to some extent, because of design and in game flavor. I understand why people are angry but I still do not agree with them. Genshin Impact is a game that takes inspiration from real world countries and cultures for their regions, however, I want to highlight "inspiration". A documentary on native americans and everything regarding those times is expected to be as accurate as possible, because a documentary is informational and educational. Genshin Impact however isn't, each region takes elements from a real world place, but that does not mean they *are* that place (I think Fontaine is a good example of this). Now, each region uses instruments, architecture and clothing based on those regions, I remember people in the comments of genshin OSTs from the respective cultures pointing out the instruments used and personal stories about them, so in that regard they are setting differences between what defines a genshin nation and another. So what about the skin color? Well... Mihoyo is a company, and companies like paper, specifically those with numbers, and genshin's primary selling content are characters. Knowing this, they have to make sure their primary source of income in the game stays strong, and the best way to accomplish this is by giving players what they want (or well, China, since they don't care much about the rest of the world, or maybe they do, after all they only listened to the chinese community when these went absolutely feral, like 1.1 Zhongli and Neuvi bugfix, but ignored the chinese community when they complained about the 3rd Anni, so I don't know anymore... Plus it is said that they only reverted Neuvi back to its pre-bugix state because they were threatening with suing and doxxing). What do chinese people want? Well, each person is different so of course this doesn't apply to everyone, but on average white skin (although I'd call it flashlight white but whatever) sells the best, and I'd wager it's not just "a lil better", from what I've experienced... But why? Well, putting aside asian beauty standards, from the data I've seen, the percentage of black people in china isn't by no means high (to some this might be obvious, but sometimes one gets a surprise, so gotta check just in case), so people are most used to clearer skin tones (plus most characters in other franchises there are white/pale, so it's kinda like the "default"). At first the beauty standard part didn't seem that strong of a reason to me, until I saw korean standards and their perception of certain physical attributes on women. From my pov, mihoyo is simply cattering to what the chinese community will swipe the most, releasing more darker skin characters in Sumeru and Natlan relative to other regions as a reference to the irl counterparts having mostly dark skinned people, without risking it much on the character side. This explains NPCs and enemies having a higher dark skin ratio, as those don't sell, so they don't have to hold back as much, plus, the big bads from the Sumeru quests were the white ones, in this case the Akademiya, and one of those who helped with that were Dehya and Cyno, especially Cyno, who has a bigger role. There's also the interesting case of Xinyan, a character who at the beginning (and in a way still kinda) was considered the most forgotten character by both the community and mihoyo (Aloy doesn't count, no one expects anything from her, the Imaginarium Theater further confirms this), however she was one of the main characters in the 2.2 signature event and the 2.8 one. In 2.2 she was the main character with Tartaglia (Traveler aside obv), and in 2.8, she was one of the 4 characters to receive a whole story arc and domain dedicated to her (whose music slaps by the way), meanwhile other characters like Rosaria, Chongyun or Thoma haven't shined nearly as much (okay Rosaria and Thoma were released after Xinyan, but the time gap isn't that big come on), they had no incentive for doing this if they truly wanted to neglect the darker skin characters, plus both Kaeya and Xinyan are from regions where darker skin is a minority, yet they added them, and Kaeya specifically descends from Khaenri'ah's royal family, which I think is an important role. Yes, you could argue the dark skinned ones suck, but most are 4* and let's be real, most 4* suck. Bennett, Xingqiu, Faruzan for anemo and a few more are the exception, but we have Thoma, we have Layla, Chongyun, Sayu, Dori... I didn't even remember Heizou existed, where the hell is Heizou, only thing that dude has is a hangout event. For 5* we have Dehya and Cyno, whose kit looks cool, but is underwhelming in battle performance. For Dehya we knew for a while from leaks that she was going to be standard, so I wonder if that's part of the reason, which might be considering the abyss usage charts I can find point to Tighnari (the other Sumeru standard) also being quite low usage (though higher than Dehya), in a 4.5 chart being 2 tiers above Dehya, and in a 4.6 one being right with her. (Usage rate doesn't necessarily prove which characters are better, it can be influenced by people simply liking a character more, though some like Kazuha I bet are there mostly for meta, even though there's nothing wrong with him as a character). Cyno... Cyno is weird, his E is the most disappointing thing I've seen since I've looked at a mirror, but his burst is probably the coolest in the whole game (animation is sick, the form is sick, the eye QTE mechanic looks sick), yet he's mid (I mean, not Sigewinne mid since even Dehya is better than Sigewinne (I actually don't know if that's actually how it is, but it's a meme at this point)). We have Natlan now, still unreleased, but we are already getting leaks, and I'd normally say that Mualani's kit stat wise and skill wise looks strong because it got nerfed and many people were saying she was actually powerful, but I will ignore this since that's how it basically is for everyone, everyone is broken until proven otherwise seems to be. If we had to talk about racism or cancelling hoyoverse, I'd rather direct that to the part of the chinese community that actually hates black people (I don't know if this is true, but apparently there were many chinese comments saying stuff like "screw you black demon!"), however I only think it's problematic if the chinese community discriminates against black people, since not liking how darker skin looks aesthetically is just a preference and not racist, same goes the other way around, but I feel like in this case it goes beyond that... But maybe we can trace this further back to the CCP itself, from what I heard china isn't really a comfortable place as a person from a country that is, to their eyes, seen as less developed or problematic, especially as an african (though if someone here went to china as one feel free to share your experience), though I know people who fall in these groups who haven't had any bad experiences, so I guess it depends (by the way this is in relation to the CCP). Ultimately I think that if anything, Hoyo is guilty of many things but not of this specifically, I'd put the blame on the radical chinese (emphasis in radical, not every chinese person), but this nature is probably CCP's fault to at the very least an extent. As an end note, I don't think it makes much sense to regard characters that use the name of a deity as being that game's incarnation of said deity, many games and series use names of gods with little to no relation with the god itself, and Natlan characters clearly aren't intended to be that god, maybe they could have one or two references to them, but that's it, in the end Venti isn't the demon barbatos, Ei isn't the demon Baal or the Raijin from the japanese folklore. First of all. Apology not accepted for I will be reading all of this. And also because I appreciate reading all of this and hearing the input honestly. I find it reasonable that you do not agree with the boycott and honestly fair. As you said the game does take inspiration and that is just up to creators as a whole to do what they wish to do with it. So it doesn't HAVE to be 1 to 1, though it feels better when it is. And designwise, in terms of flavor, it is something I personally give a lot of attention and that I want. Representation is neat, but also I like when people give as much details as possible and pop off with references and small details. That being said it is not something I expect 100% of the time. I do find it hypocritical of people saying these things at times though when there were people laughing or saying awful things about the Yunjin Trailer too or when they were mocking the instrument used in Blade's trailer. As you say Mihoyo and Hoyoverse is all in China and as such they have to cater and appeal to their Chinese audience first, and that is perfectly reasonable. I do like that people have highlighted that even from the Asia side, a good group of people have spoken about wanting to see the diversity, but on my end I have a seen a pretty even split regarding that. So I cannot fully comment on it. In terms of government and such, I do not know if maybe something there has influence and if it does then it makes sense. The Chinese playerbase being essentially near Hoyoverse's HQ does make their voices better be heard. I had heard, allegedly, that people were doxing or going after employees from Neuvi's nerf. But I do not know if that is true or accurate, but if it is, that is horrifying. Appealing to the beauty standards is rough honestly, and people go super hard on that because they shrimp a bit TOO HARD for some characters. Heck, the Korean community exploded and complained about Lyney apparently, and my former roommate who lives in Korea did say things were very intense there regarding Lyney. I appreciate hearing your POV on this. And thank you a lot for the comment again. Your explanation does make sense in all honesty and looking at it from a more neutral stand point, yes it makes sense. I also like to add that in regards of storyline and NPCs. I did like that we had the whole story with Jeht and her father. They were depicted with a darker skin color than the regular enemies. But I don't feel like people talked much about that, but they did in the reverse with the enemy eremites in red being darker skinned than the Sumeru city ones that were light skin and green. Xinyan was an absolute treat to have in the event she had with Tartaglia. And the Golden Apple Archipelago was peak in all honesty. Her area was my 2nd favorite behind Mona's. Also damn not the forgetting about Heizou, but honestly true. I think it is just something about the 4 star characters, like Heizou with his birthday art, Thoma with the Aya siblings, Chongyun with Shenhe/Jonathon(for those that watch him), Sayu with LilyPichu and Dori for the controversy that happened. Still, beyond just that they are forgettable as you say. I am also sending this now and editing it later because I do not want to miss this wall of text I already typed and finish addressing it all. Some mechanics were a bit janky or over complicated for what they were supposed to be doing. I am looking forward to Natlan despite all that has been happening. Specially I want to get Kinich because I like to do Pixel art and him having pixel effects and the little pixel dragons is neat. So even if he isn't the best I just want him for aesthetics and because I resonate with him That is honestly true, from both the CN community but in general as well. A lot of nasty and racist comments have surfaced from all of this. With people throwing slurs or insults that are just depressing to see how they just come out swinging like that at the sight of this. I can agree with some people that some following the Boycott are nut cases in the way that they are that they approach this, but others just go GIGA hard at this. I do feel like things do depend from person to person and as such from CCP to CCP too. I like your conclusion of ultimately this is partially on Hoyo, but not 100% that they do this with intent to be racist or be mean to people or to demoralize the community. They have to adhere to things related to their communtiy and such. Not to mention authority I feel like it is wild to use the name of the deity as the incarnation. Some names are just really neat to use and also to just use them as inspirations for the design they wish to use. Such as a lightning wielder holding the name of Susanoo. Or character with names like Amaterasu, Agni, Apollo, etc, etc I respond to you with this essay back and also a thank you for this comment once again

I always came at it from the view point that issue doesn’t stem from nobody caring at Hoyo; it’s that they simply understand that the country they live in pays the most and can crush them so easily because of the community over there. Pissing off CN for them is to be avoided at all costs and I don’t see that changing in a grand way. I wouldn’t be shocked if one or two higher ups were a couple of bad eggs but I never got behind the entire company being mean spirited and closed minded necessarily.

Yeah, I can agree on that. It does rough that they pin the whole blame on Hoyoverse as a whole. There are SO MANY external factors that hit on this. And while I do support the boycott, to an extent, I do recognize there are things that are unreasonable and that I do not like from this end. Blindly following one side feels dumb in all honesty. I appreciate comments like this where you also bring in your input, so thank you for that. Yeah, the entire company shouldn't be placed to blame for all that happened there.

East asian like japan and chinese is mostly tan or atleast its not pale like in genshin but they make them pale in genshin. The reason why its because east asian beauty standard (white/pale,thin,etc) That's why they being carefull by creating dark skinned character. They okay for tan character though,that's why hoyo created tan character more often than the dark skinned character like kaeya

I do see that there was an attempt. And I did mention it how for Kinich in particular and editing the thumbnail it is noticeable. Heck Neuvi and many characters are GIGA pale to an extreme. So in comparisson to them, it is a change. But not one everyone wanted. And yeah, it all just exploded I feel like this also just exploded massively because we had Natlan, followed up by Sugilite's reveal. ZZZ apparently being talked on this too, I think because of Nekomata(?). And then the "we listened to you" post regarding Neuvi being fixed, which nobody asked for, 7 PATCHES LATER. Honestly that one pisses me off more than it should. I am glad it got reverted but they really did give the "we listen to you guys as we nerf something nobody asked for and enjoyed"

the funniest thing about this dumb drama is if Mihoyo listens to the westerners and make Natlan characters black the CN players will riot so it will never happen as Asians from the specific part of the world China, Korea etc are really racist against blacks/browns

I do feel like it is a lose-lose situation. Though there has been a pretty big positive influence from the Chinese and asian communities that are supporting the boycott. It is all split up and regardless of it all it will be chaos. There may be more signs of racism there but it doesn't reflect on everyone there

If you don't like what the genshin developers are doing, then stop this hysteria and direct your energy to maintaining those projects that you like and that, in your opinion, really represent correctly.. . whatever you want to represent there. Your boycott will lead to nothing, but you can support other games that need your attention more.

First thing is first. I appreciate you letting me know about the translator. And thank you for taking the time to translate it to communicate here! It may seem childish but I do support it and like the points some people have been making for it. Others have been insane and I don't. But for the most part I do like seeing people join up and rally on this. Though I do not think much will be done of this. I wanted to voice my issue about the fact they Nerfed Neuvi, a change no one asked for, and then reverted it while having claimed they had been listening to us. That to me, was rubbing salt on the wound and it felt dumb I do agree people should probably direct their attention and efforts to another game that they do like. But I also think that us as the players also want the game we have been enjoying to also show they care. Which makes things more conflicted To me, I stopped playing Genshin and had been focus on HSR more than anything. And yes I do continue to support games I like and such whenever possible because I like to play different games to relax from the drama and just the daily Gacha farming

I also understand how small this amount is compared to those who don't care about all this and who just keep playing. For example, I personally don't care, skin color is literally the last thing that plays a role for me in this game. The nature and architecture of the regions, music, small references, clothes of local characters, their history and personality. Literally all of this is more important, no.? I do not deny that the almost absence of dark-skinned playable characters in genshin is strange to say the least, but is it really worth organizing a boycott because of this.? As if not, especially if you know that it will literally lead to nothing (remember Sumeru). That's why I suggest not wasting time on this. Just in case, I say that I had no intention of offending anyone with such a comment. I hope my opinion didn't sound too harsh.

I'll admit that I'm also one of the last people to bother checking skin color. I am very used to not being represented in foreign media because I do not live in the country of the media's origin and am not looking to be represented there. But there are diaspora struggling with their national identity and representation in media can help validate that. So like, try to see it from that perspective, and show empathy for the people who do care about representation. Also, it's very weird to take inspiration from a culture and not reflect the physical characteristics of the people who practice the culture. The culture stems partially from the environment, and people can look a certain way because of that environment. If you just take the clothes and practices of a certain group of people but make characters not look like those people, it's very telling that there is bias involved when creating the characters.

Ooooh damn really? That's sick! I'll definitely check it out and look more into it. There is also the Trailblaze Timer item we get when we do the Ascension/Equilibrium quest. Which mentions how it is hard to tell if it is a watch or a compass. It has been fixed multiple times, and was owned by Legwork

they listened to the boycott and they will never change anything. lets be real, Natlan archon quest probably have been done by now with all of its cutscene. unlike changing some numbers in nouvillete's kit, changing anything that crucial like skin tone or any design is hella expensive and time consuming

That is true. It is something that is hard to actually change and realistically I don't think much will happen. But I still want to show my support to those in my case. Even if there are no changes I just hope the complaints will be acknowledge in a way. I am just personally pissed at the lack of communication Genshin's Dev team has when compared to HSR's or WuWa (even if I am pretty much quiting the game already. I am glad they were vocal)

All it takes is replacing models doesn’t matter if it’s complete… It’s changing one thing. It’s not hard. Keqing is literally the base model they use for rendering before they change it before release. They can change the models. It’s up to them if they care enough.
