A couple of questions... 1. Why would they testing want you to do a tug test/ in cab test first, without checking the king pin/ trailer connections/ locking pin/ ect? That seems like a bad idea. 2. Also, on the brake test, why don't they test the compressor strength (50 to 99 psi) in 3 mins or less? 3. Should not the brake peddle also be pressed during the brake leak test?

This is great. I Train in Texas and your video is the first I have seen on the new version! Of course I train Class B w/ School bus & Passenger but it is basically the same. Great job on your explanation!

Your drivers demonstration on the forward offset seemed to miss the mark when you said it’s required to drive the passenger side trailer tires between the mark and the cone. I guess the object is to try to not go too far out and that’s what it looked like happened in your example. Your truck was highlighted outside that area.

Fantastic video, but I would like to add a few things. Now, I took my CDL test in Texas so the first two points could be state-specific, but it's better to be safe than sorry when you're trying out for a whole career and it certainly can't hurt you to implement them, so why not? Give yourself the best odds! - When listening for odd or suspicious noise(s) through your window(s) during your in-cab inspection or you just happen to have your window(s) open during any of the other test portions (road test, backing), be sure not to let any part of you hang out of the window. This can be seen as a safety issue. Personally, I just lowered the windows a few inches to prevent the possibility of that occurring while still having the benefit of hearing any noises should they happen. - When doing your in-cab air pressure checks, do not touch the parking break valves during the emergency brake function test (seeing that they pop out on their own between 20-45 PSI). I was told by my instructors that they have personally seen students fail because the test examiner considered the possibility that the student may have pulled the valves out either intentionally or by accident rather than the valves popping out themselves. - When placing your wheel chocks for the air pressure test or really anytime you place them (roadside issues and the like), a good trick is to place them at either end of a steer tire rather than using your drive tires. If the truck rolls and settles on one of them, it can take some persuading to dislodge it from beneath the tire with some good heel-kicks or a hammer. If you place the chocks on the steer tires though, you can simply turn the steering wheel side-to-side a few times to push them both loose. No hammer or heel-kicks needed! Good luck everybody!

Great job with all your videos Jeff. You teach much in the same manner as I do. I can appreciate your professionalism and I can tell that you put Safety first. If I was ever in Kansas, I would want to stop by your school just to sit in on some of your classes to learn more. "One person only knows everything, until they find a person that knows more than them!" Can't wait to watch your Range skills training. Question: Do you think that it would be easier to test in a pup trailer (better for on road) or a 53" given that the backing portion is a longer distance...keeping the 28-32' straight might be tougher...Thoughts?

I love this video and it’s very detailed, but am I the only person that noticed he didn’t do a pre-trip on the other side of the engine ????? He just did the three oils. The video didn’t include the alternator water pump and air compressor.
