Just got this generator, and for half the price of a honda 3300 and 3000. It does the job just as good, or even better. But just a little tip, for a brand new unit, do a oil change after 30min to a hour. Lots of glitter for the first break in period.

Great video! I just bought an 87' Catalina 22 and I'm about to put her this weekend. Advice to you. PLEASE, when you are working on a boat and sailing . . . exchange your wedding band for a silicon one. I almost ripped my finger off a few years ago on a sailboat when my ring got caught on a cleat.

We bought two of the first versions. Ran them almost 24/7 for two years straight for an off grid camper. One generator had a tick over 14,000 hours, and the other over 9,000 hours. Both still start and run (however one is hard to start 14,000 hour one). Needless to say we were very impressed. When we built an off grid cabin we bought one about 6 months ago, and the new one has around 2,500 hours. Run Mobil 1 full synthetic 10W-30 HiMi and change the oil around every 500 hours (or when oil shut off happens). I use E3 22 spark plugs and change every 2,000 hours. Never messed with the air filter except rinse it out. Had to take one apart after 6,000ish hours due to a rubbed wire. Other than that no major issues. They are a tank of a little machine! Surprised that a single cylinder with a dipper oil system and no oil filter can last that long.

What's the fuel consumtion per day
@BretteCaldwell
@BretteCaldwell 23 күн бұрын
@@OffRoadOutpost That’s hard to say per day as daily needs varies; but I will go through around 12 gallons (two 5gal safety cans,and one 2gal safety can) per week. Running regular pump gas since new and no problems. If I run 12 divided by 7 it comes to an average of about 1.71gal per day roughly. This is with a E3 22 spark plug. However most of time it’s a light-medium load on the generator. If heavy loads (table saw) I will use more.

Quite frankly, that Porta Potti is way too complicated and much work, and I sure wouldn't want to clean it. My Rhodes 22 has a marine toilet with a holding tank, but I never use it as such. I just put Wag bags inside the toilet and dispose of them after use. No mess, no cleaning, no smell, and much cheaper. There are numerous foldable or collapsable camp toilets on Amazon that take up much less space than the Porta Potti when not in use.

C-22 owner here, The turnbuckle T-bolts get bent usually when raising the mast if the shroud turnbuckles aren't facing the stern. They jam as the mast is coming up or going down. Another thing I can suggest is to put an old water bottle lid on your deck plug for the mast lights when your boat is in storage. Otherwise water can get inside and corrode the wiring. Not such an easy fix tracing wires and such.

Ahoy Apple & Rob! I'm Thankful you made a video about setting up your mast. I've been contemplating getting a Catalina 22. Your video showing the bent hardware for securing the mast, as well as the size of the bolt going into the base of the mast, & a glimpse of the gauge of the mast, gave me pause for concern. I understand this is a small sailboat, but even small jaunts up & down the Pacific, from bay-to-bay, seem like trips, that could potentially become beyond the little boat's capabilities. My search for the right boat, should probably be expanded to more stoutly built models. I need to try & keep the boat/trailer combo's weight down, but I need to stay mindful of a boat's fragility-factor too. Seeing your video was possibly *HUGE* in my tiny little life. Thanks again folks. 🙏🦉 🌊⛵🌊🌅

This is such a nice river boat ride to see the best of Fort Lauderdale from the water. The captain/narrator is very entertaining and informative. So many huge yachts and super tall condominiums on the Fort Lauderdale New River. The folks on the boat are so lively and often wave with enthusiasm. Cool boat life here in Fort Lauderdale. Thanks again Captains!

That just happened to me this last time I went out in my Capri 18. The Left Handed T bolt that is the part of the turnbuckle that attaches to the starboard chainplate got bent. What happened was that during the stepping process it was not facing forward (it was a little crooked). My partner who was winching it up forced it the last few degrees and the force of the winching bent it. I got a new one from Catalina Direct. Lesson learned: shake out your shrouds before the last little bit of stepping to make sure they are straight.

Lots of folks buying these mid-sized Sailers and just using an outboard instead of sails to cruise around. You can use the outboard to steer but if you have not figured it out yet, the motor almost needs to be where the rudder is to be a good steering outboard. If you have a off set mounted motor, then you are probably better off with a rudder and just leave the motor locked. If it is off set it will turn great in one direction but not so much in the other.
