Great video as always. I Kdm I usually don't consider support an impactful enough role, more like something every one has to do... Do you think they should buff the support role? If so.. how would they do it?

Supports are so unbelievably powerful that you'll find veteran players talking about how they've stopped using the deck control elements and spread the rest of the job out between other survivors. It's really just a playstyle thing, if you run a really hard to break tank then the support dismantles the rest of the monster threats really hard. Otherwise, switch from a support to an Archer (that's the next video btw).

@@FenBossBattlers I think full support is just too boring to play and makes the game very unfun to everyone perhaps I should have explained the buff more in the having fun section. Also a full support character slows down the showdown as well

You can always hybridise into a mixed build such as a team with: support/tank, Off-Tank, Damage, Support/Damage so IMO it is all fine. KDM is a non-competitive sandbox game, so players can switch up styles. Also Team Death have been building on the "Squire" support play style over the years, so there are more options coming for supports. In short, I think it is in our hands, if you don't find it fun, don't use them! It's not like deck scouting is vital once a player is experienced with the behaviours of the two monster decks.

I was rewatching and thought about something when you talked about scythes. Almost every scyth has an alternate activation ability, the nuclear scyth has edge ignites, for example. Or Titus has the luck consumption. The scythe mastery let's you activation the scythe twice each turn, letting you freely tap its ability and then use it.

I dont recall of many interactions outside the showdown for saviors , i know there are a few during the hunt phase... If you have gone the survival of the fittest route Morgan will give you a better chance of getting a savior.. other than that... Is pretty underwhelming

Titillation goes hand in hand with KDM. It's one of the many inspirations the game unashamedly carries over from classic sword & sorcery fiction and anime, and I don't think it would be the same game without it. Thankfully white box content is entirely optional, so anyone bothered by Morgan's miniature can safely skip it without consequence. Personal tastes aside, I think her model is consistent with the setting and doesn't look out of place next to other KDM minis. It's interesting to note that Morg is just as hyper-sexualized as Morgan, yet you were much more positive about his model when you reviewed it.

I often use bone darts well beyond their usefulness, even forgetting its a weapon, because it's left red is just so useful.

Another great piece of content. Thanks for addressing "the importance" of the tank and damage dealer roles... As you mentioned everyone wants to be a damage dealer but no one wants to tank. I am not sure how you can be a tank with a low attention span but I know you know how to. Damage dealing is low skill floor and high skill ceiling, you also need to have very good "instinct". I love playing high speed damage dealers... Anywhere between 10 to 16 hit tries per round can still be ok if you know what you are letting yourself into. Also forgot to mention... I think katars from core game are ok even against the watcher I don't see any problems with them before that and against some lv 3 monsters as well

I haven't had that combo happen yet. So I can't really say much about it. It's very rare, so all I can comment on is have fun and experiment with it.

34:49 already mentioned it in your Tank video, but going from 1->2 Evasion is in fact more value per point than going 0->1; what you want to be looking at is the proportional effect on Monster Hit% rather than Miss%.

I think Fen explains this correctly in the video and both statements apply. Fen point is the cost of increasing your evasion through gear rapidly outweighs its benefits. However... original commenter is also correct... More evasion is just massively good from an "HP" point of view. Well... To be fair... More stats are just more stats and they are great. If given the option to get +1 STR or +1 Eva (for free) I almost every time would rather get the evasion

i understand your hate towards noisy as i just lost a survivor with that hunt event but I mean... come on... its only 1% CHANCE!! 1 hunt event out of 100 different hunt events! And i know that with multiple random hunts throughout a campaign the chances of getting it go up so you're bound to get it at least once probably but its not that bad... you can also think of it like hunting monsters you could kill with 3 survivors which typically your noisy survivor is the support who you don't necessarily need to kill the monster!

I feel like someday there will be a record you have to play backwards to get some demon babble and unlock something in the simulator/game. I think this simulator is boss. The opportunities are endless.

This is so weird. KDM would greatly benefit from some level of assistance which digital can provide but doesn't. E.g. automatic setup (do I really have to get the rulebooks manually off the shelf?), help with enemy movement and status tracking. This is completely useless to me. I'd rather play the TTS mod which has much more advanced functionalities.

It translates very well into all Boss Battlers, you'll even find as you progress and unlock other titans that they are designed to fit into various archtypes. But even with the standard Dreamweaver titans I ran their equipment loadouts as certain roles.

Disagree slightly to call tank the most important role... I agree its awesome and can make everyone elses job easy... But damage dealer is the most important role because its the one which advances the showdown in your favor. (Except obvious showdown). All damage dealers require a certain level of tanking/soak as the game itself doesnt incetivize going naked and only having weapons except in very special occasions when you actually have this soak "for free" but this still damage dealing. Stats for tanks movement, evasion and str in this order.

Evasion doesn't experience diminishing returns in the manner described, since what matters isn't your Evasion value but the *Effective HP* derived from it, and each Evasion point you stack on top is in fact more valuable than the last in this regard (up until you hit the Evasion 8 softcap). For example, if Evasion 0 and the Monster hits on 2+, which is an 90% hit rate, then my actual HP could be though of being X/0.9 = 1.11 times the displayed value. If I went up to Evasion 1 the hit rate drops to 80%, so x/0.8 = 1.25x, a 12.6% increase in EHP compared to Eva 0. Now, if I'm at Evasion 7 (HP 5x) and add another point for the soft cap Evasion 8, that's x/0.1 = 10x, representing a 100% increase (doubling) of my EHP compared to Evasion 7. Thus the higher your Evasion already is the **more** you're incentivized to stack further Evasion if possible, with the limiting factors (besides the softcap) being considerations on retaining sufficient utility/mobility and dealing with automatic damage. ED: And you can add in Block/Deflect mechanics making it mathematically unlikely for Monsters to land any hits at all against higher Evasion values.

You have a valid point from an HP point of view in a linear probability. What Fen refers to as diminishing return is the likeliness to be hit which both cases apply... Mostly because you have other tools at your disposal such as dodging or dashing away and also some hits don't only deal damage. I still think evasion is first or second most powerful stat in the game as even having evasion +2stat +2 gear already trivializes many monsters and is really easy to get +6 or +8 total evasion but at that moment .. are you really benefiting from it?

There's of course a whole other dimension to tanking beyond to-hit probabilities when we involve Survival Actions and targeting manipulation, but if you can math in passively sending most monster attacks into the void through a stat check, then that's tremendous for the survivor's combined Action Economy so long as you slot in a useful attack or utility action besides tanking.

That's the point I was making, the diminishing returns are in resource expenditure, not in showdown evasion totals. I believe I end the point with something to that effect. If resources don't matter, you want all the evasion you can get until you hard cap at 2+.

Not even 2 minutes in you have already said all that any player needs to know ... someone needs to take the hit. Accepting this and managing this fact is what separates a succesful run from an unsuccesful one since prologue fight. (regardless of having or not a designated tank) Will watch whole video when I have a chance.

Thank you so much! I’m currently in the middle of a campaign about to fight the butcher next! Me and my brother are pretty experienced but we’ve never beaten it yet, mostly on account of us restarting after not playing for a while and not feeling attached to the settlement anymore! We actually almost beat it once we even crafted the perfect slayer and had a badass team but right before the last boss we got fog settlement event and had to restart the campaign, AND THEN, after like 2 years our survivor with the perfect slayer fell to cracks in the ground 😭 totally ruined our morale lol but we’re back at it now and your videos have me itching to implement all this stuff! We’ve always played cautiously as you have to but I’ve never thought about the idea of the Hit Location deck in the way you describe we honestly all go bonkers with attacking but it usually works out for us haha my brother likes to play aggressively but I’m like you and like to play tank/support because they honestly are the real difference makers in the showdown!! Thank you so much for your videos!! They’ve given me hope in this dark place we call Kingdom Death, can’t wait for more!

Continuing with my rant as I finished to watch the video yesterday, I dont have many many extra comments or my comments closely align to video. Seems to me node 2 monsters are gimmicky to easily kill them (they are victims after all, excep spidi), and node 3 has gimmicks to easily kill you... difficult to explain this unless going one by one which I will not, but a simple example is that the only time that an ageless survivor with evasion +8 in my campaign was in real danger of dying was against a flower knight. Flower knight though its "easy" it is only easy because of exploiting the fairy ring, if you dont exploit the fairy ring it could be a hard fight (why you wouldnt?) . Manhunter... i feel this guy is just meh compared to butcher, several people would prefer it because it actually provides gear , some of it is great but the vials idk... they never seemed interesting to me. Kingsman vs Slenderman... oh man ... why people love slenderman so much? I get it is different from Kingsman in every single way but the showdown is really slow... you gonna say with silent hymn makes the fight so slow is unbearable for kingsman. I counter argue with: do you let the fight go over 4 rounds to the point you reset movement? hit him fast hit him hard... the trap does nothing anyways and you can spend survival to recover your movement in a pinch. On the other hand slenderman... slenderman encourages survivors to split in 2 groups and only one group at a time being able to attack it per turn, slenderman also removes survivors from board ... of course exceptions may apply . Isnt slenderman a slower showdown? At least i find it slower... im not gonna disagree slenderman has better rewards. I really like the lion knight and if im being fair... I dont recall have lost a showdown against him, therefore i cant comment on if its better to win or lose against him , i might not know the difference but winning against him has never truly hindered a playthrough. I really like lion knight showdown and the hybrid armor sets so for me this is a must.

I think spidicules is the exception... But node 2 quarry monsters seem to be more on the prey/victim side rather than predators. The node 2 lv3 seems to be easier than the lv3 node one not sure if this is by design. Gorm... I don't know why to me the gorm lv3 feels "easier" than the level 2. Is cool to see the life of the monster but just seems weaker. The main issue I have with spidicules is taken. I wish there would be better rewards for beating the hand. My opinion in kings man I feel is a great fight and the in built weakness to daggers and speed gives a reason for this weapon type and attribute. I think the trap could be reworked in a way. I'm only halfway through video , enjoying it.
