Hi, really hoping someone picks this up. I’m a staff nurse in gynaecology and often deal with ovarian cancer we and ascites drainage, I’d be interested in reading the research that Dr Roshan Agarwal produced, we have a 500ml/hr clamp and release protocol and would like to understand more about how the procedure is managed following the research and if this is criteria led in terms of main streaming patients who are suitable for faster drainage etc. Many thanks

I was diagnosed with ovarian germ cell cancer when I was 19 and had to undergo chemotherapy. Now, at the age of 21, I have been in remission for about a year and a half. I wanted to express my gratitude for the informative video you posted on the topic. It has answered many questions that my doctors couldn't or wouldn't provide me with about my cancer and treatment. Despite being the one undergoing treatment, I was often told that I was too young to understand. Thank you so very much.

In 2012 at 28 yo I had stage 1c serous BOT. Had salpingo oophorectomy. In 2017 at 33, I had a reoccurrence and at the time of diagnosis found out that I was 6 weeks pregnant. CA125 was also elevated. I decided to wait to deliver my son and had complete hysterectomy in 2018 at 34 years old. I’m curious if there are any cases of a 3rd reoccurrence?

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 4 months ago and a pigtail catheter was inserted into my abdomen by a interventional radiologist under anesthesia. My husband drains the accites at home. I'm on to my 4th chemo therapy and the accites has greatly reduced. Before chemo 8 litres of accites was usually drained every two to three weeks. Now its 1 litre every 3 weeks. Also my blood pressure is monitored at home during drainage as once it starts to go low the drainage is stopped.

Dear Jackie, thank you so much for sharing your story. Hopefully you are doing well still & coping the best you can. You have been through so much & are so brave as well as amazing. It isn't just the cancer, it's so often the highly questionable bedside manner that causes so much unnecessary stress & trauma to the sufferers as well as their families. There needs to be training in place, it's been going on for too long. I send you so much love peace & hope.

Thankyou so much for this livestream, as an endometroid ovarian cancer patient it can be dispiriting when every question seems to be answered with “we dont really have any data” or “the trials didn’t break that down”, so it is brilliant to hear about the work that is going on and planned, and the knowledge that is being learned about these rarer cancer types. Thankyou.

Thankyou so much for a fascinating and informative webinar! And nice to hear endometroid ovarian cancer being mentioned as I rarely find any info on it anywhere. If I could ask any questions it would be the following 1. CA125 isnt diagnostic hence screening doesnt work - is that the case at all levels of CA125 or is there a level (eg mine was over 1000!) where actually it pretty much is going to be cancer? 2. Do we know if bowel cancer screening programmes have reduced the incidence of ovarian cancer which has spread to the bowel (or vice versa if that is a possible pathway)? 3. Is there any more definitive work on whether phytoestrogens in food are beneficial for oestrogen receptive ovarian cancer patients (as they seem to be for breast cancer patients I think from research) bc eating them makes the body think “ive got enough oestrogen” or harmful because they might theoretically have an effect on the body as if they were oestrogen. Thinking of the soy, flax type foods. Thankyou!

Dear Shetland sheep, Thank you so much for your positive feedback on the video posted and for sharing some questions. I hope the following information is helpful. 1. A raised level of CA125 is an indicator that more follow up investigations may need to take place to identify the cause of the rise. This is because CA125 can be raised due to many conditions, and some people have a naturally higher level of CA125. You’ll see that this booklet on CA125 from a US- based charity called The Foundation for Women’s Cancer explains that “the number itself does not correlate with how much disease a person has”. www.foundationforwomenscancer.org/wp-content/uploads/FWC-CA-125-Levels-Your-Guide.pdf 2. At the moment we are not aware of any link between bowel cancer screening and diagnosing ovarian cancer. 3. This factsheet from the British Dietetic Association explains that “Comprehensive reviews by the European Food Safety Authority, World Cancer Research Fund and the World Health Organisation all conclude that soya foods as part of a healthy balanced diet are safe”. www.bda.uk.com/resource/soya-foods.html A member from our expert advisory panel has written an article on this subject in one of our previous magazines that you may find useful. Here is a link to that particular magazine edition and you can find the article on pages 10 and 11. www.ovacome.org.uk/Handlers/Download.ashx?IDMF=11175f32-cdf7-48ed-b897-1715690ace41 Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like any further information or if there’s anything else we may be able to help with.
