As a football fan from UK, I find it unfortunate that the 2002 World Cup's narrative is still overshadowed by this controversy, especially since the success of an Asian team was so unexpected. Before the introduction of VAR, many calls during this tournament were controversial. Watching the full matches reveals that both teams exhibited remarkable aggression and calls went both ways. It's disappointing to see achievements tarnished by selectively edited videos like this and being circle-jerked from neighboring country. That is so creepy and disrespectful. On a positive note, 2002 World Cup introduced the world to Park Ji Sung, who went on to become a legendary player for Manchester United and Korea now has many star players playing in big clubs in UK and Europe. Perhaps, I feel this wave of criticism is mainly out of jealousy that Japan can’t produce star players like Korea. I find it interesting how most Europeans I know moved on w this issue but it’s mainly Japanese who cling on this issue like hyenas lol
