Nice wheels bud. I spent a fortune getting a carbon Orbea. For what I spent on that, I coulda totally replaced everything on my Specialized that needing doing for less than half the cost. I never really rode that carbon bike, felt too rigid even if it was light as a feather. That's good going with three rides of that size in that time. I could only ever take hills slow and steady, and having ridden a 25% hill I know how it makes ya feel. I thought my lungs were gonna jump out my chest. That was great watching that, brought back many memories of when I was as daft as you doing this kinda stuff. Brilliant stuff, stay safe mukka

You probably won't believe what I'm gonna tell you now. To look at me now at 23 stone and a lazy bustard, hard to believe that my highest mileage for cycling in a day is 118 miles on a training ride. That was cos we got lost and took a wrong turn. In 2013, at 17 stone in weight, we decided to do a charity cycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands End. Well, I did it !!! Rode every hill it threw at me and enjoyed every minute of it. I used to get to 60 miles and felt I'd just warmed up. I'm a weirdo like that. Hills killed me but on the flat I was like a BP supertanker and took some stopping.😁😁 There's a video on my channel of it. Get y'self a handlebar bag and a pack of fig rolls, keeps ya energy levels up and you can eat on the go. I ate 2 packs a day on that trip and we did 80-90 mile days for 12 days on the trot. I just shit like a goodun. Great vid, apart from the punctures, I bet that felt great.👏👏👏👏👏👏
@outoftheshed84073 ай бұрын
I've always cycled, I just fall in and out of love with it from time to time. Just a shame you can't buy time, eh? I use dried figs in my flapjack, a great energy source. Looking to do caernarfon to cardiff soon as a warm down from the Fred Whitton.

I enjoyed your technical review and judgement on the tyres. Especially at 10:04. Very funny, this is my kind of commentary. By the way, I've got the CRF300L and I changed to Trackers which are pretty good, but even they can find themselves going sideways when it gets slippery.

That looked steep even on camera. I expect you've ben reminded how tiring it is riding off road. As kids we used to have Bultaco bikes in the quarries and tracks on Portland. Used to ache all over after a day on the bike. Got quite used to falling off😁😁 Fly tippers...scumbags. Do many people moan at you for riding the trails? Funny things, people, but then I would imagine some off roaders have just blasted past them in the past so they tar everyone with the same brush. That geek squad you passed looked "special" Feckin hate deep puddles, ya never know what's lurking in there to throw you off.🤔🤔 I did consider another GoPro but then remembered all the problems I had with the Hero 7. Why thhese manufacturers don't make a camera with bluetooth record straight to the camera I'll never know. I get that these adapters make them money, but the customers soon get pissed off with them and will look for alternatives. Glad you got through that without binning it before ya holiday.
@outoftheshed84074 ай бұрын
No one moans. They just look at you like you are shite. The thing is they can walk anywhere and we are limited, so those that go off piste give us a bad name whilst the rest have to battle with the hikers. In my opinion, the trails should be open to all, and everyone should be more tolerant. That would be too easy eh?

The opening dates for the passes are well timetabled. You will have passed signs telling you that the Col d’Aubisque was closed soon after passing Eaux-Bonnes and I’m sure that there will have been similar signs early on on the road to the Col de Tourmalet as well. May is still a bit early in the season to be touring in either the Pyrenees or the Alps.
@SteveInskip4 ай бұрын
I’ve got a theory that Ramblers only exist to make other people miserable. Very well ridden anyway mate, great lanes and the bike looks superb. The Honda stock tyres are really good on road and hard-pack but not so good on the lanes you’re doing….or dry grass surprisingly. I use Michelin Trackers at 15/20 psi for a good road/lane pressure with extra thick inner tubes. They’ll normally get you through (and up) most stuff. Another thing on steep downhills is to pull in the clutch and go down on the back brake so you definitely don’t get any engine drive. In my old trials riding days (around Ashbourne in the 70’s) you’d have a decompressor which was brilliant.

I'm gonna try the trackers soon. Cheers

Great vid. The go-pro issue could be battery heat which is solvable using a powerbank, and also saves having to change batteries every farts-end. Just bought an Osmo4 which could be another way of solving that problem.
@outoftheshed84073 ай бұрын
I do use a powerbank. I used to be able to run a power bank without a battery in the gopro, never any problems. It then updated and then required the gopro battery in it, which I believe overheats. I think the gopro knows to stop when there's something interesting to film.

Great to see the small Honda, you’ll have plenty of fun on that. From experience, ditch the original tyres for Michelin Trackers, ditch the original mirrors for Double-Take enduros, and get a rear rack to give you something to drag the back end of the bike round a bit if you do lanes on your own. Well done for the snow attempt……..we’ve all been there. 😂😂👍
