I would love your enormous garden even with the trees, I have a tiny garden veg patch but grow quite a bit. I think everyone's tomatoes are late in ripening this year. Your cat is a joy to watch. I have only just found your channel and have subscribed.

Ahh thanks so much for the lovely comment! Yes a bit of a bad year for tomatoes 🍅 would love a homegrown tomato I can’t wait to eat one haha! The cat in the video he turned up one day after being abandoned at our house! So we caught him and took him indoors and domesticated him. It was hard work but it is very rewarding 😀

Great video ! All looking good. I’ve just got my second allotment and I’m planning to get a similar polytunnel to yours. Is it 3m x 4m from outsunny?
@SelfSufficientCJ21 күн бұрын
It’s 3m x 6m I do believe we ordered it of eBay! So I’m not sure what make it was but the Polly tunnel with the individual vents in it rather than 2 big vents that go all the way along is a lot better! If you look in the video again you might be able to see what one I’m talking about. I wish you all the best with your growing! 😀🌱

Growing garlic for the 1st time. I pulled one out today. How long do you hang it for?
@SelfSufficientCJ25 күн бұрын
You can hang it for a month or 2 then plat them or just leave them hanging there and use when needed. Garlic is an excellent storing vegetable and will store for many months in the right conditions. Happy growing!

Hey any particular reason to store the garlic upside down?
@SelfSufficientCJ25 күн бұрын
Draw the moisture out of the necks of the garlic. You can also lay it in its side on a rack to do the same thing. Then after the necks of the garlic has dried you can then plat them and hang them in the house ready to use for months to come! 😀 don’t forget to save some tho to plant out next year! Happy growing

@@SelfSufficientCJ thank you that'll help a lot with storage

I wish I had a garden. I would love to grow my own fruit and veg. Until then, I will have to imagine my garden through your videos.

Ahhh hopefully one day you will be able to grow an abundance of vegetables! Don’t forget there is a lot of things that will grow in a container on a windowsill or a balcony. Replace them house plants with veg! Thanks for watching and I’m glad that you can enjoy the videos 🙂🌱

Its enough for one week for one person i belive. Nice harvest from small basket.. ao basically ot would be possible to grow potatoes all year around anywhere
@SelfSufficientCJАй бұрын
main crops store better than first and second early's, so yes if you grew enough of them to see you through until you get to harvest your first and second early's yes sure is possible here with a bit of planning :) Happy gardening

You got a better harvest than I managed. Bloody ants got into mine and dug all through my potatoes 😂
@SelfSufficientCJ2 ай бұрын
There were actually ants in this bucket that i harvested in the video. I did say about it on camera but i could not fit all what i said in 60 seconds. Hopefully you will have some more luck next year. Saying that you still have time to plant first earlys if you do it before the end of this month, you should then be harvesting them in September. :) Happy growing

Deer ensure , oh and woodpigeons , blackbirds , voles , hares ,badgers etc ensure i am lucky to get anything at all but as we are in an island of dreadful monoculture i say let them have it , i got a shop i can use ..creating the monoculture ..oh whatever . I've stopped using plastic(well not replacing what i have )as when they breakdown , esp fleece , i find the bits annoying . It does restrict me to a smaller glass house and i try and create S facing shelter beds to compensate . Lovely place you have . Good growing !! A great change for me was instead of using a 500w background heater to winter things over was to swap to a 400w led lamp, better heat application as its more like sunlight ,,and fresh herbs all winter and easy early starting tomatoes etc , in long freezes i have to put them all in house as cant afford 24hr heating . I like moles but often a row failure has a mole hole right underneath ! Watching a brand new mole hill form is quite magical .
