My son loved the Notgrass OSSS when we used it a few years ago! I always recommend it to people when they're looking for a christian elementary history curriculum. We also enjoyed their choices for the read alouds. I would say we definitely had more fun with it once we got to part 2!

We did TGTB last levels 2 and 3 last year and this year I am doing a separate spelling and grammar program and writing program and realized TGTB really isn’t that good and robust if I’m adding additional language arts components. 😆 I’ve really had to evaluate the actual benefits of TGTB besides it being the most eye pleasing curriculum on the market.

If anyone who has started a Co-Op could give me advice on how you handle the monetary aspect of your co-op, I’d appreciate it so much. Do we have to file with the IRS and all that? Even if we do it in our homes and pay for our own supplies? I’m overwhelmed but my area needs this.
@LifewiththecanosАй бұрын
@@Dreaming4EverAfter I personally don’t file anything homeschool related when doing taxes. The homeschool group I started is completely free. I just ask each parent to be financially responsible for their kids whenever we do have a field trip. For parties or activities that aren’t field trip, we all can pitch in.
@Dreaming4EverAfterАй бұрын
@@Lifewiththecanos Thank you! That’s exactly what I am wanting to do. How do you manage when you have to collect money for field trips? Or does everyone just pay the place you’re going directly?

I run a co-op and i have a board compromised of 4-5 moms that help me run it. We have a treasurer that collects semester fees($50/family). But the money goes right back into the co-op for supplies for classes, or giving to the church that houses our co-op for the power bill, etc. Because we arent for profit per se, I just keep up with reciepts but I dont turn anything into taxes.

Why did you change from TGTB to math U see? My son used math K with TGTB but I always see people saying they switched.

From what I've seen in curriculum groups I'm in is that TGATB doesn't give a very strong foundation and number sense as to why people switch.

I feel you! Pregnancy seems like it gets harder and harder on my body with each one, and I'm on number 4 right now, too! We majorly cut back on homeschool for a while, but now we are back to picking up the pace in preparation for baby in April - I plan on taking a whole month with very minimal lessons after she's born

What part of Indiana are you in? I was thinking of starting a homeschool group for many of the same reasons. We're in Noblesville. Our kids are in a weekly group right now, and we're not really happy with it because it costs money, it's cliqueish, the dads aren't welcome, it's too large, it's too much of a time commitment, and the activities aren't what we're looking for. (We're looking for extracurricular activities, not classes.) It's hard to find a good homeschool group these days. It wasn't like this when I was a kid. Now all of the parents are kids looking for someone else to teach their kids, which is not what homeschooling is.

My last pregnancy was twins! We homeschooled from my bed sometimes😂 and we dropped down to Language Arts and Math. Your kids will be fine. Those are the subjects that matter. When we were one month out from having them, we dropped down to Language Arts. We didn't take any time off in the summer because I knew come December I was going to need 8-10 weeks off. My kids begged for me to start back up around week 6 so we started with Language Arts. The next week we added Math. The next week we added another subject. Now all 5 kids are doing great! We still haven't added History/Science consistently but we're getting there. 🤪 Be kind and gentle with yourself in this season. Do you have a baby registry? I'd love to send you guys something! 🤗

Yea this we plan to homeschool most of June, take maybe a week or two off and start back up on July. That way we can take another two weeks off after baby is born. We’ll probably be doing the same, adding in one subject at a time until til we’ve all adjusted to life with a new baby.

I’m glad you’re doing great! I got pregnant in July, we started school at the end of August and the first two months were fine. But then this pregnancy hit me like a bag of bricks and we found out it was twins. I was so sick and tired so since October we’ve been doing just the bare minimum, LA and math and lots of cuddles and reading. But I’ve felt like I’ve been failing my kids, and then hearing you say you had to adjust also has finally freed me of those negative thoughts. I’m now 3 weeks away from when they want babies to come out and I’m giving us all an early homeschool vacation. I can’t wait until you come back, I love all your videos.
