Thank you. These are great pointers and a very well detailed and filmed video ❤🥺🫶❤ I am no longer with a coach but continue to skate and use the training my coach gave me before retiring. I appreciate the effort you put into this video trying to help skaters land it. 😢 Thank you!!! ❤

thank you! I am struggling with waltz jump as the kick through is scaring me and I find myself with not enough power from the free leg.

Thank you for the top angle! It seems to support my theory and self experiments: I slowed down several spinning videos and for some reason nobody mentions the heel/foot angle during the spin, i.e., as you demonstrated at 3:18 when your left foot enters the spin the ankle enters inside so the foot points away diagonally. Just tried it today and it fixed a lot of redundant "scratching" of the blade side, while beforehand even if I did my best to stay on the ball - it still felt a very stubborn turn. The angle of the ankle seems to control the amount of speed/scratchiness and radius, so the angle most likely should adjust according to different speeds and contexts (wide/slow spin vs fast/narrow). I believe this missing part is very significant and is the reason 2-footed spin doesn't magically get you to spin on one leg, unless we develop some different variation/instructions how to take that ankle/foot angle into account.

Follow-up on my previous findings, figured out that when I bring my heel inside - the spin feels much cleaner because the spin is actually done on the outside edge, opposite to how I perceived the spin (meaning it's not a small "turn", so the technique is different). I suppose it's either on both edges or the outside edge, because doing it on the inside edge - digs the front part of the skate into the ice too much, creating a "bad" scratch with the side of the blade.

@@DimaPavlenko This spin should be done on a back inside edge, not an outside edge. A spin on a back outside edge is done on the opposite foot with a forward inside 3-turn-esque entry.

i don’t have an ice rink near me anymore so i’ve spent TONS of time researching off ice jumps and tbh this is the best tutorial i’ve seen online that’s not from a paid program! so much more detail than the standard “jump, land on the other foot, and check out” tutorials lol. kudos!!!

I find this difficult to follow...too quick for me. I'd rather have ONE choctaw broken down (per video) more slowly. Baby steps. Too much information at one time confuses me. I am a senior citizen who never learned this stuff when I began skating 35 years ago. I learn slowly.

It's such a great breakdown! But why nobody tells that you must also rotate your stepping left foot slightly to the left? :) makes huuuuuge difference because it naturally causes your body to rotate. The author is doing it on the video herself. Perhaps would be a great additional step to include 🤔

I like your technique of step over but I learned my a Axle single and double the old school way. I'm trying to remember how I did my Axle. But, no one teaches that way anymore. But, I'm trying to learn the new way ( not the old school way). I am having trouble with what is called the "Snap and the "H". I learned my toe jumps to cross over but I never could make the transition to the new way that you describe. Should I just try to remember my old school way or learn the axle snap?

I’ve been trying to do it on an inside edge! I didn’t realize it was supposed to be on the outside! I can do it on the wall, but when I try to do it away from the wall some part of my blade makes this scraping noise. It’s not the toe pick it’s like the edge of my blade is scraping the ice and I move very slowly…
