Spent all last week fishing on KY Lake....all the heavy rain on Tues and Wednesday really stained the water, as well as raise the lake level by about 2 feet by Friday. The bite seemed to just shut down on Thursday and Friday was nearly impossible to get a bite.

3/0 was what I was using. Could definitely get away with a 2/0 as well. Depends on the brand and application. I was using a gamakatsu 3/0 heavy flipping hook

Hah, I mean if I didn't set the hook hard I would loose fish. Just unfortunate for this guy he was smaller than the average frog fish and ate right next to the boat. Got to drive the hooks home, I've lost many fish on bad hooksets.

Everyone clowning on him has never thrown a frog in their life. You gotta set the hook as hard as you can, its two giant heavy wire hooks. Bunch of 9 year olds sitting on their couch who think they can fish cause their dad took them bluegill fishing a couple times.

Yes, a top water hollow body frog. If you look up other people's videos I guarantee they set the hook that hard. This one was just unfortunate enough to be small and eat close to the boat. Reflexes kicked in. Setting the hook hard is important for frog fishing with the heavy duty hooks and the frog body you need to get out of the way. Not go mention needing the momentum to bring fish through the matted vegetation

it would be illegal for me to keep him... In Illinois the legal size limit is 14" and he was well under, about 10". I'm not trying to risk a ticket from the game warden for an undersized fish. The game warden probably wouldn't care or believe me if I said he died so I didn't want him to go to waste. If he was of legal size I would keep him for sure. Not going to waste tho, Im sure a turtle had a nice meal that day!

Lol, not with a frog. Hooks are big on a frog, and you have to push the frog body out of the way. If he was bigger he wouldn't fly
